Dear Brits, Thanks for clarifying the many definitions of pudding.
emmymadeinjapan This "ORP", (or as the squaddies call them, rat packs) is one of the worse varieties. (See below) Oatmeal blocks, aka biscuit A, are designed to make you constipated for when you're on sentry duty or a sniper for example. Dark choc chip biscuit , aka biscuit B, really "Unplugs" you, if you catch my meaning. If you're using the newest version (unsure if available for civi purchase) get menu 2. All day breakfast, yellow curry, blueberry turnover... Yummy...
The "Target" is a range card, used by sentries for indicating how far away the enemy is if they come under fire. (The circle would be filled in with landmarks and ranges, so if the barn was 300m and I saw the enemy there, I'd then know they are 300m away and can adjust my aim accordingly)
If you need anything clarifying, let me know ;)
Cheers
Sam
Danske arme fod is Mach better
Have you tried a menu of Canadian IMPs, Individual meals prepared?
For the gum, most are sweeten with sorbitol instead of sugar, these days and sorbitol was first (and is still) used as a laxative...
It's exotic because it comes in a white packet. Ours was green. :)
My nose is also the size of a tabasco bottle.
The restaurant full size version one, unfortunately.
haha love your comment, I was thinking the same thing about my own nose too.
cheekychickenhead I got that nose because I'm Jewish.
What's your excuse?
cheekychickenhead wow you watched this too!
You are hilarious. I hope you are proud of that appendage and are laughing with us.
Oh no no no😇🐙🎃💃👏😹😝
Not sure if anybody told you this already but, Exotic generally means tropical fruits in the UK. Something like Mango, Pineapple, Guava, Passion Fruit. So Exotic means flavoured as these ingredients.
Good to know. Thank you for sharing
I’m America we would call that “tropical punch” usually especially if it’s like powdered drink mix such as kool-aid.
"When you are out in the bush, you gotta have your nuts"... #ClassicQuote I love it!! 😄
That made me laugh 😂😂
i have to say
THIS KINDA LOOKS BETTER THEN OUR SCHOOL MEALS HERE IN THE STATES
They are better than school meals 😊
Mooch's Lunches right?
Tiffy Hsu Not is you go to a school with a lot of money
I went to Bothell High School (same school as Zach Lavine) and the food was super good then I moved to Seaside Oregon and the lunch food was shit
My dude, this looks better than the school meals in the UK, too
Hey. Im an army cadet in the uk and we get rat packs all the time and there soooo nice. We swap with each other and we also mix food. For example if someone has a soup and you have rice we combine the two to make like a curry and we share it. The ration packs have changed alot since you posted this so some of these item are irrelevant. We call the powder drinks crack in a pack or screech. They are full of energy, you can add hot or cold water and you add i packet to 500ml of water. The meals aren't that bad cold I've had few cold meals. The are 20 different boxes you can get including vegetarian and holla(i think its called). We now get given a spork but we take a kfs which is knife fork and spoon with us. There are two different tabasco bottles you can get. The fruit pockets are like a smoothie or yogurt. We call it baby food. We cook all the food in a mess-tin on a tiny cocker where we boil them till the fuel runs out the we know its done. I love ration packs and often bring home what i dont eat or drink. We dont get most of the items in this pack we get similar things in different packaging. If you have any questions on the ration packs i would be more than happy to answer them for you.
Chloe Woodlock I'm joining the British army soon, do they actually taste good? I thought they'd taste disgusting but then I guess if you're out on the field you won't really care because you need the energy
Georgia Wingett you can get some unpleasant meals but saying that i prefer eating ration packs than scoff food. But thats just my preference. You will soon realise to say yes to food and eat it as you will be hungry and tired and cold. The packs are full of energy they have 6000 calories in just two meals. And after all that nothing is better than a brew at the end of the day. Ration packs have changed soo much since this video. In my opinion for the better.
Chloe Woodlock Halal not holla but cool. I'm pretty sure in Aus cadets you do not eat mres I would not know as I go to a civilian cadet (AAL) association.
gesman5000 the acf eat rat packs. I have almost an entire rat pack in my room and take thing to events i have to go to. I prefer rat packs over cook house most of the time
miss spelt halal
Does anyone else wait for her yum of approval ? Lol
I do
hmmm
Mhm
Yeah if she doesnt do it she dont like it lol
Colloquially pudding can refer to any dessert in the UK. As in, the actual dessert course that you have after your main course. Example of conversation: "What are we having for pudding tonight?" "Cheesecake". So a meal goes as follows: starter, main course, pudding.
"I feel like an exotic dancer will pop out." 😂
British Army Ration packs or RAT packs as they are known here were heavily influenced by US C Rations in their form and design. They are highly popular within the British armed forces and are arguably superior to many other nations rations. They were also a very useful trade item for British troops when operating with other armies. US army troops when using the first generation MRE in the first Gulf War were eager to trade items with British troops for 24 hr Rat packs.
The pack contents have changed to adapt to more modern dietary requirements and there also ones adapted for various religious needs. They have also been adapted to more recent combat operations in Afghanistan with the chocolate bars removed due to them melting. Tabasco sauce is include now based upon British troops experience trading them with US troops during the first Gulf War. US MRE came with a Tabasco sauce bottle and British troops liked them so much when they traded RAT packs that UK packs now include them. British troops will happily pour Tabasco sauce on any meal!
The Oatmeal block is usually mashed up into a form of porridge by British troops. Finally all British armored vehicles are fitted with a device called a BV which stands for Boiling vessel. It allows them to make hot drinks and food in the vehicle. They just drop the boil in the bag food into the BV. American tanks don't have them.
For me, it's quite funny watching Emmy drink the tea since that is basically a staple for us here in the uk and I never really think about it when I drink it.
I was thrilled Emmy knew enough about us Brits to dunk her biscuit in. ^^
JCBeastie that's how she usually prefer biscuits/cookies :)
Im English and I cannot stand tea or coffee! Bleugh!!
Lauren B
There are tons of types of teas, you're bound to like one if you try more of them.
I mean I hate hate hate most teas, but green tea and cherry blossom tea are both amazing.
Darius Abend I've tried many different teas and I don't like it either, it's just like grass/dirt/flower water to me and I don't care for it, lol. I like coffee but I have to have tons of cream and sugar in it. :/
Emmy, you are so considerate of everyone's customs and cultures. You compare things but not in a mean or unsettling way. You make awesome vids and you do your homework! YOU ARE SO PRETTY! Keep making awesome vids! ( Sorry that the bun was gross ish)
"I feel like some like exotic dancer is going to pop out or something." HAHA! I love her.
How about: "When you are out in the BUSH, Ya gotta have your Nuts"....LOLOLOLOL
I've noticed you love black currant, someone really ought to send you some ribena! its a classic.
Aww yeah! I only like the strawberry flavour tho xD
We have Ribena in the states. You can get it in the British foods section at any Fred Meyer :)
Only the one in the carton or the squash, the bottled ribena is too sweet I think
The stuff in the bottle is concentrated. You have to add water.
+MisfitsCupcakes well done sherlock.... That would be the squash you add water to... They do a bottled version that's ready to drink but it's sweeter than the carton or the squash/cordial/dilute
The picture of those big military guys eating the fruit pocket made me laugh a little! But everybody love a good sweets from time to time especially in combat situation!!
Back in the late 80’s I was an au-pair for a British army family in Germany. I couldn’t get enough of those oatmeal block biscuits, they are amazing with a good old mug of ‘builder’s tea’ and a hunk of tasty cheddar cheese!!❤️
On most German chewing gum packages it says: "can have a laxative effect when consumed in large quantitites." It just depends what "large quantities" is for you. For me it's 2-3 gums, for my brother its 1+ package.
Interesting...
@@emmymade i think sucralose can give you the runs, but i thought they used xylitol for cavity prevention
@@Elleoaqua Any sugar substitute, in sufficient quantities, can cause the runs. The reason is because the substitute is sweet like sugar, but your body doesn't have the enzymes to fully digest it. So, if you eat enough of it, your body tries to eliminate it by flushing more water into the large intestine. Haribo ran into this problem when they introduced sugar-free gummy bears. First of all, they used a sugar substitute called malitol. Second of all, they were expecting people to eat the recommended serving of 2 or 3 gummies... they weren't expecting people to eat the whole bag! The end result was a lot of people suffering from a 'gummy bear colon cleanse', and Haribo had to recall the product.
Another great vid, Emmy. Castus is a berry that, when dried, is a lot like a peppercorn, and comes from the aptly named "chaste tree." It is traditionally used in herbal preparations for women's health, and gets its name from the fact that it was used to calm the sensual passions. I guess that it helps soldiers in the same way...?? ;-)
Your supposed to put the oatmeal block in hot water to make porridge for your breakfast, a lot of the people I know put a bit of the hot chocolate powder in and add the milk powder to make it more palatable when on longer field outings
beverage whitener is kinda like coffee creamer, you add it to your coffee and it has the same effects! c:
I just call is non-dairy coffee creamer :D
Well most people and product's in the uk say coffee whitener not creamer as it does not contain cream
We know
Hello
When I was in the Army the 1 man 24 hour Ration Pack had a Hexamine stove in it. The Castus bar is a Health Bar (Fruit & Nuts with something Sugary to hold it together). In the old days we had Condensed Milk in a tube, These days they have Beverage Whitener? I think it has something to do with it not being just dried milk (Light Cream maybe). The Exotic drink will be a mixture of exotic fruit flavors. It also said "Isotonic" Which means it is 90 % water, 10% Fruit juice and a pinch of Salt, Which is absorbed quicker by the body than plain water. The Oatmeal Block we used to crush in a bowl, Add hot water and add Condensed milk to make porridge for breakfast. I would imagine the Chocolate Pudding is a Steamed Chocolate Sponge Pudding with a chocolate sauce. We also say pudding in stead of dessert. The "Spotted Dick" was a plain Steamed Sponge Pudding with Currents and diced Peel in it. We only had one "Bar" but did have Hard Tack biscuits, Small Tin of Processed Cheese and a couple Tubes of Jam. Keep up the good work
Andy C
Koopa Troopa! You're welcome Emmy: great video and so glad you enjoyed it. I have no idea what "castus bar" means either! I'm sure exotic dancers in a ration pack would cheer the troops up no end, but in the UK, it generally means a mix of more unusual fruit flavours, like mango, passion fruit, kiwi etc... ;-) p.s. I drink my tea exactly the same way you do, with no milk or sugar.
The glass bottle of Tabasco are literal satan. When you're sleeping people will pour them in your mouth~ Sometimes with rat packs you'll get a green package which can usually be eaten cold as a lunch option. There's one that's just a package of tuna with lemon and pepper flavoring you just eat - it's pretty good after walking for ages carrying a burgan. You honestly need all those calories. Even then I was still hungry (I eat a lot for female my size). Biscuit browns and fruit biscuits have an "Alice in wonderland effect" on toileting. You save those for when you need them. The fruit pockets are pretty good too - especially the yellow one ^^ The powdered drinks people tend to mix together in a large pot into "jungle juice" and see who can drink the whole thing. The rat packs are issued with different numbers and you never really know what you'll get as each is different, but you can usually swap what you dislike with someone else. They also interestingly have a shelf life of around 3 years.
In the US when we mix all the flavors, we call it "Graveyard"
Lol I was in the army cadets when I was in my teens and when we were in the field we used to do the "tabasco challenge" just to bide time
The pudding is chocolate sponge with chocolate custard. My childhood favorite lol!
I lived on these for 6 weeks in afghan in 2007 :D
The saying goes - "Biscuits brown to block you up, biscuits fruit to open you up"
Lamb Curry + Rice -GOOD!!!
Bacon + beans - OK
corned beef hash - GOOD!
tuna rigatoni - SHIT!!!
tikka masala - SHIT!!
Custard + dumplings - OK
Sticky toffee pudding - CRAP!!! everyone threw it away because it had the consistency of tar
Thank you for your service! Being in the army cadets, we get pretty identical ration packs. I've only ever ate chicken tikka. The hot chocolate is pretty decent as well. Hexablocks are a pain though...
did you really heat it up in a stove
+Marcus Brown You get these small aluminium tin containers, which you fill with water, and use to boil the packets. we use fuel blocks to boil the water. The water can then be used to make hot chocolate or tea
Bullshit. You are not a squadie
+Mmmm Tasty If that was at me, i stated that I'm not a member of the armed forces (being that I'm an Army cadet)
As a cadet, I have the utmost respect for the Army, and know that whilst I'm associated with the Army, I'm not part of it.
As a currently serving member of the British Royal Marines, I can say 100% honestly that those rat packs are so good 😍 if you get no.11 you get chocolate brownies and when your in a desert and pull out a brownie, it's heaven 😂 good video I like it
I love it when some of the rat packs don't get finished and I get stuff like the puddings home. Although the oh doesn't tend to part with them they're just too nice haha
Seems like the ORP is slightly better than the MRE. :)
Yepp its better
The ORP are certainly better than what I had just 10 years back. The people who're eating this stuff on the field will probably not be eating it as Emmy eats it. Most certainly they won't be eating it as each packet on their own. We'd save parts of a particular day's meal box (that's what the 7 on the box is btw), and then we'd use 2 or 3 meals as one... mainly because would get the same-same week in week out, and it made for a new taste, but mostly because some of the meals you just didn't enjoy so you'd mask the flavours. It looks like they've gone for brand names now too though, my last pack was just foiled and white packs.
You might find that the chicken pasta is put into the mess tin (the metal pan they carry with them) along with say the chilli con corne and cook it together. sounds vile but if you don't like either or just want something that tastes different it's actually really nice lol... and with the added bonus one day you can double up on some of the nicer stuff like puddings.
The ability to cook it like that, I think makes the UK's ration packs a bit better then the USA version.
Still, when you're out in the field and you're wet and cold, anything hot is a blessing
I think without the personal heating device and the fact that it doesn't look as portable as the MRE is a little off putting. It's basically like a box of food whereas the MRE is food on the go and portable.
Yea I like the orp but much prefer the mre as you get your own litter heater and it's proper food and not just food out of the cupboard.
08LFA MRE food is more portable, but the heaters are impractical. In the british 12 hour ration packs we get the self heaters, and trust me- a 4 hour march in the rain and it'll of activated for sure. Hexamine is waterproof, the stove can be reused and all of the fuel can be burned. (Even the paper it comes in is waxed for tinder)
we use to joke that the "biscuit brown" (now called oatmeal) was used on Centurion tanks as extra armour. the tissues are for wiping your bum, but none ever used them as the ration food blocked you up. we use to get a Yorkie chocolate bar in the packs with "not for civvys" written on them too. another thing I noticed they no longer have is the bag of boiled sweets.
"Castus" is likely vitex agnus-castus. If so, than that's funny, the Brits give their soldiers chasteberry. Chasteberry supposedly reduces sexual desire in men and was used by monks to help maintain their celibacy.
aphramet it's the brand name
from the way my dad speaks (he served in the British army in 1973) the biscuits that the rations used to contain, you'd have to place it on a surface and hit it hard with your rifle just to break it
Hey, gotta say, after looking at your new vids and your older vids, really gotta say, you've done well for yourself Emmy. Keep up the good work!
this is what I love about Emmy's channel, been watching her videos for over a year and still finding new stuff to watch.
Woh, 4,000 calories! More than I eat in 3 days, but I guess you really need those calories when you're in survival mode. Really neat!
You eat less than 1.300 calories in a day?O.o Why??
I dunno, I'm a tiny human? I'm 4'11'' How many do you eat?
Around 1.900 calories to maintain my weight, but I recently came of a months long diet of 1.300 calories where I lost loads of weight, maybe that is why I was a little surprised - sorry if my last comment came of as rude by the way, I was just curious!:P
It's ok. I didn't find it rude at all :)
Lisa V isnt the recommended amount of 2000 calories a day? :)
"i feel like an exotic dancers gonna jump out at me" LOLOL
Your hot
The chocolate puddings where the best bit about Rat Packs ! I was a cadet for 3 years and all the girls would want the mini bottles of Tabasco as they're so cute !!! The matches are indeed like that so they're weather proof and the international element to the foods is to keep the quality high and the price low. And a hex block heater is a little 8cm by about 4cm box that can be carried around and is able to be opened and you put some fire lighter blocks in it and a metal tin of water per block. Another fun memory from cadets was being dared to eat a drink packet with out gagging, think cinnamon challenge but a lot more energy ! Haha
Pudding is a generic term for desserts in UK
In England, "exotic" translates to "has flavor."
I miss the Yorkie "Not for Civvies" chocolate that came in these *sigh*
ParkerDai and the white mars bar
I just went through a few of these ration pack type videos you've done and loved them! You are adorable lol
Lol I'm going over the whole playlists of this 😂I don't know why but I enjoy seeing Emmy eating and giving her descriptions XD the sounds she makes are cool too
to be honest.. whenever I'm watching your videos I get hungry xD
Same XD
Highfive mate xD
+Jenni XBreaker Yazz! Highfive!
I'd be worried if you didn't get hungry. I've already eaten snacks and my stomach is growling at this video I think... :(
I always have a snack in hand while watching most of her videos :)
The Brits LOVE their puddings, God Bless them!!
Thank you Harold for sending this to Emmy! It's really cool to see what your military is given to eat and to see how it differs from our MREs here in America.
I'm sure these don't taste like 5 star restaurant meals, imagining being outside in the middle of nowhere or not having access to much food, possibly dealing with crappy weather and dealing with at least some kind of stress, I'd think these would probly taste pretty good in those circumstances. Another awesome video Emmy! Thank you!!
I loved this review, Emmy! Love you soo much! Xoxo
it's interesting to see ready to eat meals from around the world . thanks for uploading
janice Rigsbee check out steve1989 he eats almost any kind of ration including ones that are found from ww2 and smokes the included cigarettes
You don't have blackcurrent flavour in the states!?
+Kakarot20007 If we do it's rare...
never heard of it!
I was a little shocked because it's my favourite flavour for juice 😋 It's easy enough to find here in Europe.
I drink black currant juice. that's the only black currant thing I've seen in America. I don't even know what a black currant is but the juice is good.
I have some cold and flu stuff that you mix with hot water that I got in England... probably the only thing with blackcurrant flavor within miles... lol!
I’m officially addicted to your videos,
Love it!
I'd just like to say you dunking your biscuit in your tea was the most British thing ever! jolly good show!
I laughed so hard at the spotted dick part 😂
not that funny?
Zoey K. It was pretty funny
Honestly it wasn't? You're immature. Seriously ?
Zoey K. First off, laughing at something I find funny does not make me immature. Secondly, Emmy intended it to be made as a joke. jeez you are too uptight
Actually it wasn't intended as a joke.😂
Wow she's lucky she didn't get the Mushroom Omelette, I was at camp with the Royal Engineer cadets, and I got it..... I couldn't taste again. Then I saw the drink packets, Arhhh The days... OMG she got Constipation cookies or AB Cookies (Anal Blockage cookies) They were rank but overall not that bad. Wow the Tobasco sauce bottles omg we put that In so many peoples drinks, No body trusted me and my friends, Cuz we put so much Tobasco in there drinks, Haha. Thanks for the Memories! ;)
I used to be in the royal engineers and when on exercise I had the unfortunate time of having three bean pasta... Worst thing ever
@@jandavies8515 my dad was RE aswell used to come home with chocolate pudding for us kids to fight over 😂
I love watching other peoples reactions to eating our rations. Im glad you got the latest'ish versions. Downside is the post exercise ration poop caused by these rations - like crapping a spiky brick!
If you had a show on travel channel I would sooo watch it! I love the way you describe what you are trying.
Please eat more ration type packs if possible! Apart from your making food (recipes and Japanese powder kit things), these are my favourite! :)
Every time I watch this lady I love her even more she is amazing and awesome.
Kung-fu Badger :D!
emmymadeinjapan I think Its time I like an favorite all your videos which is very rare for me to do XD.
totally love the technical term used on maple bun 'smooshed it' perfect
For some reason, I was expecting a tea bag in there. I read somewhere before that the British tried to make something for them to have tea in the battlefield in WW1 or 2 (?), which is kinda hilarious to imagine?
My dad used to be in the US army and he says the Tabasco used to come in little bottles like that aswell, but I guess they stopped because on rough missions the glass would sometimes break.
hello emmymadeinjapan I know this is a 2014 vid but the british ration packs now have the chemical boiling option now
Michael Tee great!
I loved oatmeal blocks, as a kid....dad brought them back as usually not eaten, back then they came in cans of 5, as did the jam ...but you can use to make porridge, or can be crushed and added to chilli to make a meatloaf type meal...or it can be used to thicken other foods, often cooked or heated on a tank engine while on exercise. I used to eat oat blocks with jam. Great memory thanks for the video.
Koopa Troopa!
Thanks so much for making this video for us, Emmy! Your videos always make me happy.
:)
The biscuits are deliberately designed to be very dry and high fibre....lets just say it keeps you regular and solid in the field. The Cocoa / Hot Chocolate was always a bit of a laxative. I used to eat my RAT PACKS out of sequence, so I would have the Dessert for Breakfast for a massive morning sugar hit, usually RICE PUDDING because it can be eaten cold. I would then have the biscuits and dry stuff during the day etc during the day - Evening, double up on the mains / hot chocolate..I used to come back with tons of stuff because you never had time to eat more than 2/3rds of it.
I love it when hubby brings back things like the hot chocolate haha
"When you're out in the bush, you wanna have your nuts"
My childish mind found this very funny
One of your best work Emmy loved it
Amy loved this Video Was Long, Interesting and Fun, I hope to keep doing many more of these. Greetings from Chile :)
The older MREs for the US used to come with the little bottles of Tabasco as well they are adorable but never seemed to be enough for the meals
You should have your own show in the food network. You're so awesome with describing the taste and consistency of food products
Get real...standard and boring...and "mmm"after every taste is ANNOYING
"Pudding" is used in at least four different ways in the UK:
1. A generic term for the dessert course of a meal ("what's for pudding mum?")
2. A type of milky dessert like Emmy described, made with tapioca or rice
3. A steamed sponge, sometimes with currants in it, served with sweet sauce and/or custard
4. Christmas pudding.
I hate the word pudding and although a lot of people in the uk say it I much prefer desert and I am born and bread in the uk
always use these on hiking trips, love them
Hi Emmy! As someone who's from Europe, I'd love to see you eat some food which are popular in the US, so I know what to eat when I'm there! :)
beverage whitener is kind of like powdered milk for tea or coffee
Everyone knows whitener is powder coffee creamer regardless if it doesn't contain cream for all u politically correct assholes out there
Your videos are genius lady. Love the packs.
Always very entertaining to watch you. The "Maple Syrup Bun" tastes a lot better when warm. Enjoy & thanks for all your videos.
Chewing gum is a form of laxative, some soldiers I have talked to "didn't go" for 3 days after eating MRE's for best part of a week, trust me, you will need the chewing gum and the tissues.
+05Rudey It's the artificial sweeteners.
+DrBrennan it's not necessarily artificial, it's probably something like xylitol which is a natural sweetener derived from birch trees, mostly.
05Rudey all chewing gum states on the pack its a natural laxitive. But if you're a normal person and just eat one piece or 2 depending on person to person its ok.
The reason they didn't go for a few days was due to the biscuit browns haha designed to block you up
In the next episode of Emmy eats: Soylent Green, the food of the future. From people, to people! :D
a friend told me about you and so i thought id check you out and im already in love with this channel!
The Oatmeal block has been in British Army ration packs for years. Most soldiers add hot water and coffee creamer and make it into porridge. Back in the eighties when I was in the Army we didn't have coffee creamer, we had a tube of sweetened condensed milk which made lovely porridge.
Gary
An interesting taste test Emmy. Haha Exotic dancer didn't pop out but I'm sure some of the Army people would appreciate the entertainment LOL. Looks like a lot of planning and thought has gone into those ration packs I found this fascinating.
Jake Isawsome Hey Jake : )
Hey, I love your channel, you're so funny 😊
here where i live in canada we call coffee creamer (Coffee Whitener) ...Coffee Creamer Is cream to me
I love your kettle and you must be so brave to try all these new thing also I love your vids keep it up
I love these types of videos!
i live in the uk and pudding isn't bread unless you have bread and butter pudding (which you should try) but it is a sponge cake with custard or chocolate sauce.
My son's father, who's English but has lived in the States for 10 years, uses the term "pudding" in place of the word dessert. Like, instead of saying, "Time for dessert," he says, "Where's the pudding?"
Pudding in the UK is a kind of steamed bready cake sort of thing, often made with suet (beef fat) and can be either sweet of savoury. Pudding is also used as a generic term for dessert throughout a lot of the UK, particularly in the north.
cldcollector I live in the UK and you can use either pudding or dessert, they both mean the same thing unless speaking about a specific pudding (e.g. bread and butter pudding or black pudding)
In contintental Europe, pudding is just what it is, no bread or butter.
I think by bread she meant the spongy layer. Cake is related to bread, after all. For example, banana bread is called a bread, but is more like a cake.
Those matches are awesome, you can drop them in water and they just keep on burning.
Coolness
Another fun video to watch, thanks for making it! I like that pint glass with the Crown etched into it. Where did you find it?
This is cool. I never thought before about what and how the army eats on the go!
Wow that seemed like a huge box for someone to carry around in combat situations? It looked like it was pretty good over all though. We have an army/navy store here I think we will have to go check out some MRE's because you have sure peaked our interest Emmy! =}
I know, right? but Harold tells me that troops usually breakdown the boxes and pack up the bits and pieces into their pockets/packs. Let me know if you taste any MREs that you like or dislike for that matter. :)
emmymadeinjapan We will! We're going into town tomorrow so we'll see if we can swing by there and see if they have any! =}
We don't keep the box, we usually take it out and put it in our webbing or Bergen
s0ft_c0p Thank you for responding! What do y'all do with all the boxes and trash from all the packaging? I've never thought about that kind of stuff until Emmy showed us these videos but I would think a very big group would have a good bit of trash after eating these?
s0ft_c0p Same here mate, I told somebody to keep the range card and he took the whole bloody box...
Hey Emmy have you tried the French version of these MRE/ORPs? I tried one today (thanks to you for inspiring me to try nee things) and it was surprisingly good!

Ahhh.... Typhoo! I'm Canadian, but I had Typhoo when I was visiting for a few weeks in the UK/Ireland. Ever since, I stock up every time I find it (in the British markets we have around) and drink it daily. My favorite bagged (poorer quality) tea. The kind you drink when you need something comforting, familiar and warming. I have my nicer, loose-leaf too, of course... but Typhoo just kinda has my heart. Love the videos, Emmy. Although I can't watch them around my husband as he thinks you're cute. ;) :D
I love these videos! I would love to see more.
I almost died laughing at the tiny tabasco bottle

New subscriber and fan. Love the vids!
with the oatmeal block you usually get chocolate paste you can spread that on the biscuit, that tastes pretty good and the breakfast you usually dump hot chocolate powder into the porridge thats also very good!

When she eats the pudding all I can think of is Sue Perkins on Supersizers Go: The Seventies. When they have school lunch and she gets so excited for Chocolate Sponge and Chocolate Custard with the skin on.
Is it okay if instead of heating it on the stove I use the fire from my mixtape to heat the meal bags?
