Free Skoda MIB2 firmware update with download link (Columbus Amundsen Bolero)

- How to update firmware in Skoda Bolero, Columbus, or Amundsen MIB2 system for free. Check the tutorial and install latest software in your radio/navigation system. Here you will see how to go from MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0475T to the most recent MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0480T SW Train which brings bug fixes and stability improvements. This and similar units were installed in Octavia, Fabia, Superb, and other Skoda cars with the same update procedure.
⚠️ Warning! You are doing it at your own risk! This DIY procedure can overwrite custom system modifications like CP-OFF patch, CID-Lock, SWaP patch, custom skins, dual-navi patch.
⚠️ Make sure your cars battery is in good shape, use external power source, or turn the engine on for the update process to make sure that voltage drops will not interrupt firmware update. Also make sure that your touch screen is working correctly.
🛠 Skoda MIB firmware update procedure
1. Enter hidden menu and check your current SW train. Check on mib-helper.com if you have the latest one.
2. Find and download latest supported firmware update for your Skoda on mibsolution.one (user and password: guest).
3. Use 8GB or larger SD card, format it with FAT32 file system with the smallest allocation size available.
4. Extract and copy firmware update files to the root directory of the SD card.
5. Remove SD cards from the main unit and insert update SD into SD1 port.
6. Press and hold MENU button for 3 seconds, select "Software update/versions", "Update", "SD card", select firmware, press "Start" and "Next".
7. Wait patiently. Main unit will reboot 3 times before the new firmware is installed.
8. When the installation is complete you can press the arrow in the upper-right corner, "Cancel". Unit will reboot one final time.
9. Press and hold MENU button to confirm that the unit is running new firmware version now.
10. Use scan tool like OBDeleven or VCDS to clear the B201A fault.

ℹ️ MIB units are made by several vendors - Harman, Delphi, Technisat/Preh, Panasonic, LG, Qualcomm. Each vendor is developing its own firmware version and release its own updates.
ℹ️ MIB units have different generations - MIB1, MIB2, MIB3...; Different tiers - Entery, Standard, High, Premium...; Separate releases for different platforms - ZR and PQ; Separate regions - EU, NAR, JP, KOR, RoW... Each car manufacturer has its own brand-specific versions - Audi, Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Porsche, Bentley... Each generation, tier, platform, car brand combination its using its own firmware version.
ℹ️ MIB2 Technisat/Preh unit running firmware 02xx will allow you to install only other 02xx firmware version. It is possible to install higher versions (03xx and 04xx) but some system modifications are required. 0254 Is the latest version released for VW ZR units 02xx

Hi I just got a golf 7 from 2015 and I watched this video and also the most recent one about updating the map. I am a bit concerned about updating the firmware. Is there a possibility to back to the previous version if necessary? I have a MSTD_EU_VW_P3350 I saw on MIB helper that there is a much newer version but kind of overwhelmed if something goes wrong, I would not like to loose some option like the back camera. I would like to ask can be this used also on the radio from Skoda Octavia 3 Swing 3 (MIB2) SW: MEN2_EU_SKGPx_P0080L MU: 8755? The radio shall support Apps but I took radio from other car then I unlocked the CP (not me one guy who has all tools for it ODIS and licenses). I lost the Android/link because radio was mount on other car. So basically I am looking for some solution and this looks like the one I am looking for. Now, it depends if I can do it on the Swing3 technically it should works. Could you somehow tell me if is possible please?
Hello mr-fix, I am getting an error "Unable to open file release information" also I am getting a message poing up some times which say error updating. Have you meet something like that before? After a check online I have spoted that most of the people who are getting this errors are with HIGH units could this be the problem ?

Mam skodę Yeti z wersją MST2_EU_SK_PQ_P0138T. Wg mib-helper najnowsza możliwa aktualizacja to 0353, jednak na mibsoluton nie ma 0353 tylko 0253. Skąd mogę pobrać nowszą wersję i czy możliwy jest update z wersji 138 do 353 (lub 253 jeśli nowszej nie będzie)?

Mostly system stability improvements. But if you force foe example FW update from 02xx to 04xx on Technisat units, you will have couple small additional features.

Thankyou for all the super helpful videos. I have an MIB2 Technisat unit. After i follow the instructions
1. Enable the Green Engineering Menu
2. Install toolbox
3. Unlock App Connect.
Would there be a way to go back to original stock firmware with all the 3 things back to how they were? e.g: Disable Green engineering menu, Uninstall toolbox and Lock app connect. Asking because if i sell the car then i want it to be back to its original firmware so that the new owner doesn't know that i messed around with the system.

Hi, congratulations you are very prepared. You would also know the procedure to switch from Amundsen to Columbus Touch and Mib 2.5 units (if I'm not mistaken) for Karoq
You will need new unit, new display, new dashboard trim, coding & adaptation, remove CP, insert FEC/SWaP codes.

My current ver is MEN3_EU_VW38X_P2045L is it only for Skoda this source ?

When it comes to MIB3, I would not risk a self-update. Not for now. There's very little documentation about what's exactly needed afterwards, since those cars are just ending the warranty.

I already did one update at the dealer , they also used a usb-c stick , didn't use the Odis software...
The problem it takes them a long time from the release of the update till it's available to the clients...
Look at the forums for the updates. I know that with MIB3 on the new Octavia NX people have shared the updates and they have been working fine. I was on the fence about trying it and one day I got a massive OTA few months ago that fixed all my bugs in my Octavia.

Hi i installed myself all seat sound system in mib2 seat 2015, and configured with vag com to 9vd and now i have subwoofer control but the volume of subwoofer doesn't change. Do i need yer or yes Vag can pro? or i can activate in other way? Thanks in advance
You need dataset/parameters for this.. can be done with vcp yes. Done loads of them
I've just had updated last month to get Apple car play working, will this remove that??
Depends what have you done. If it was an official activation, you are good to go. If it was unofficial (patching), this update will most likely overwrite it and you will have to patch it again.

I don't think there was Delphi unit for Skoda. But the update procedure for Delphi is the same. Download package, extract to SD card, trigger update from hidden menu.

Hello i need help i ordered a wireless carplay for my mk7 2016 and i have stock MIB with connector i am unable yo connect the wifi carplay with my headunit what would be the procedure to make it work if i upgrade to MIB2 will it solve the problem?
Which firmware you have right now? If you have MIB1 (MSTD or MHIG) - there's no CarPlay support in those units. Neither wireless nor wired. You would have to add a CarPlay box under the dashboard that goes between the main unit and the display. It around 250 Euro on AliExpress.
If you have MIB2 (MST2 or MHI2), there's most likely a chance that your unit supports wired CarPlay. You would only need a wireless adapter like CarlinKit.

Ofcourse it dont work. Your sw version is 01xx you cannot update to 04xx sw. In your case, 0140 is the latest sw version you can do...
Alsway stay in same sw version 01xx to 01xx, 02xx to 02xx, 03xx to 03xx, 04xx to 04xx.
Thanks. Also I’m having trouble changing the code (error 1555) on both my vw polo and Skoda Kodiaq. I manage to find confirmation of installation change. Replaced code using MIB-Helper. It says changed but then goes back to original. I’m using vcds. Does the stereo have to be turned off? Cheers
