- DIY firmware update for Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster in #Audi A3/S3/RS3 (8V). Download latest software, prepare SD card and the vehicle and perform installation of the newer firmware. #Update procedure takes about 10 minutes and doesn't require any advanced tools or knowledge. 🛠 Audi A3 Virtual Cockpit firmware update procedure
1. Enter VC hidden menu to check your current firmware version.
2. Find and download desired firmware update for your VC on mibsolution.one (user and password: guest). In my case 8W6906961R AU_C1_AU37X_0150_0742_prod for KI_FPK_AU37X device.
3. Use full-sized quality SD card, format it with FAT32 file system with the smallest allocation size available.
4. Unzip and copy firmware update files to the root directory of the SD card.
5. Remove other cards from the main unit and insert update SD into SD1 port.
6. Take the keyless remote to the receiver on the steering column and turn the ignition on.
7. Enter red hidden menu and start the update procedure.
8. Wait patiently. Virtual Cockpit display will go dark, indicators and warning lights will flash. Main unit will reboot several times before the new firmware is installed.
9. When the installation is complete you can hit "Resume" at the end of the update summary and "Cancel" on the next screen.
10. Use scan tool like OBDeleven or VCDS to clear the B201A / B201A00 fault.
11. Enter VC hidden menu to confirm that new version was installed.
12. Remove SD card, remove the key, remove external power supply.
⚠️ Warning! You are doing it at your own risk!
⚠️ Audi eTron users reported that FW 0150 has a misplaced icon bug.
⚠️ Make sure your cars battery is in good shape or use external power source to make sure that voltage drops will not interrupt firmware update.

@@mrfixpl Hallo, ich habe letztes Jahr mein Audi gepacht und seit dem kann ich nixjt nicht mehr poi Blitzer aktualisieren. Es steht immer "Kartenmaterial nicht kompatibel oder veraltet".
SD fat32 formatiert, auch mit USB probiert geht nicht.

I don't think any mods will be overwritten by this update.
Key need to hold only on beginning of process. You don't need hold whole time there. Some updates support pACC icons. 150 support.

Hi, can anyone help with this, since doing the update, I am unable to turn off ESP/Traction control with the button on the dash, I replaced the dashboard unit with my families A3 and confirmed the button itself is fine, (it turns off the traction in her A3 but not my S3), swapped the A3 unit to the S3 and same issue, when pressing the traction button nothing happens, traction control itself does still work and kick in when I get wheel spin, but I cannot turn it off to do a launch by pressing the button since updating ! Any ideas?

Hey man, thanks for all the videos. I was able to update my headhunt and cockpit on my 2016 Audi TT. When I went to install M.I.B to enable CarPlay, the MMI is now stuck in initializing. Can’t get in the menus or anything else.

Tried to update to the latest, everything went smoothly and seems to work. But now some of the icons got misplaced on the VC. And it seems like I cannot retry the update, tried to turn off the car and on. But the icon is still misplaced. Anything I can do to fix my ocd? 😅

Thanks for all tutorials. I updated MMI, maps, and it seems I need to update VC as well to get working Android Auto. Phone shows it is connected, but nothing shows on VC (2016 Audi TTS).
My question is if I need to clear erros with OBDeleven, or is it enough just to do the update and ignore errors?
If I need to clear errors, then which OBDeleven is enough? Is white pro enough?
I did the update without OBD part and it is fine. Initially I got errors with tire pressure and cruise controll, but they disappeared after a short ride. Currently I have no visible errors in VC. Aparently some older VC models (2015?) might require reset after update by disconnecting battery - but in my case VC restarted properly.
Good video as always, but I was wondering if I’m doing something wrong. I tried to check the firmware on my Audi A3 E-Tron 2018. I pressed 00 4 times and on fifth time long pressed. But nothing happened, only thing that happened it showed engine code where KM of vehicle is. But it didn’t show any tab with firmware.
Door closed, start pressing immediately after turning ignition on.

Got it, was a timing thing. Do it straight after pressing the start button.
Need your help. Run an update on micro as with adapter and at the end got an error saying unable to read metainfo. Error code 8 and option to retry or cancel and I retried with same result so I cancelled, I am assuming that didn’t install completely. Run check with obd11 and vc version changed to car software 1329 as previous was 0371 also I don’t have the keys symbol under the stearing wheel?
I also have now full sd card and not reading on the car? Stays grey. I had to rename metainfo2. From the download folder To metainfo2.txt

Can you please confirm me whether the "AU_C1_AU736_0378_1280_prod_8S0906961AK_Q7_2018.zip" file is the one to be used to update my 2017 Q7 e-Tron (ODX Name : EV_DashBoardAU736 / ODX Version : 001027 / Software Version : 0370). I unpacked it and found a directory with a different reference "KI_FPK_AU536". Is this normal? Will the system prevent from updating to an unsuitable firmware ?

Hi, after doing this update I get the “brake servo restricted error”. Is there a fix for this?
I had the same issue, and ended up having had to replace the unit. A3 2017 with virtual cockpit hardware version HW14 should not go above software version v47, or else you'll be getting these error messages that are not stored in the car's memory, so Audi cannot fix it. Applying an older version will damage the unit, with the tachometer getting stuck at 999,999 km, with even the trip computer not measuring the distance travelled

@@cuozzofrancesco2605 yes, I had Audi working on the error message for weeks, with the Audi dealer working with Audi directly, but they were unable to fix the issue. Then I upgraded from 150 to 162, which made no change. Then I downgraded the SW from 162 to 47, which is the highest version for hardware version H14, and this resulted in the permanent damage to the Eprom managing the tachometer. So I had no other choice but to request a replacement of the unit. Interestingly, the new VC unit has the same hardware version of H14, despite the fact that it's 2024, and the car is from 2017. This tells me that the VC software is closely linked to the hardware version of the unit. This fact should be highlighted to everyone planning to update the software as many here report the same error message appearing to them...

What new features does it have?
It fixes my OCD - I couldn't sleep knowing that there's an update pending 😅
But for real, it fixes last used tab memory for me. Still looking for more changes.

O ile coś się nie zmieniło od poprzednich generacji, to można obniżyć przez wykonanie nastawów podstawowych zawieszenia i lekkie oszukanie w czasie procedury. Jednym z kroków jest pomiar odległości od środka koła do krawędzi błotnika. Jeżeli zawyżymy ten odczyt, to sterownik będzie przekonany, że auto jest za wysokie i odpowiednio obniży zawieszenie.
A czy wykonałby pan taką usługę? Będę w maju w Polsce. Pochodzę z Krakowa. Pozdrawiam@@mrfixpl

etron updating to 150 has missplaced icons.
Reverting back to 109 got him defect eeprom. Milage shows 999999km ..
Wondering if the 0109 was corrupted or the downgrade in general was not the proper way to go.

Audi diagnose a VC bug and ask a lot of money for replacing the whole unit…
I followed all the instructions and kept the engine off with the A/C and lights off. The update went fine but after it finished I started getting the brake servo error. I took the car to non-Audi mechanic and they replaced the brake pressure sensor which is usually the cause of the fault but it didn’t fix anything. They have told me that the error is most likely due to the update and my only option is to take it into Audi to get it fixed but now I’m worried they’re going to charge a lot for it.
