2024 MSI GP Vector 17 HX Hands On! Better QHD+ Display, Premium Features, Budget-Friendly!

  • I got to take a quick look at the new 2024 MSI Vector 17 HX at CES 2024. With a better build, the new hinge design gives a lot more confidence and attached to that is finally a premium display at 17" QHD+ 240Hz with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. This was my biggest grip about last year's GP series so I am glad to see this get addressed. The Intel i9-14900HX with up to a RTX 4080 should offer ample gaming capability with up to 250W of combined power. A nice per-key RGB keyboard and glass touch pad and good assortment of ports with a full-size SD Card reader rounds out some premium features at an expected budget-friendly-ish price. Of course we won't know for sure until pricing and availability is confirmed though. Overall, this seems like a good set of changes and one to watch out for.

    Crap, we reached a point where a $2000 laptop is considered mid range :(

    • @GizmoSlipTech
      @GizmoSlipTech  Před 6 měsíci +4

      Yeah, I’d say upper portion of mid range. I would say $1400-2200 is the midrange zone of pricing.

      you do realise 💀14Hx paired with 4080 ain't mid range specs?
      if you want a mid range laptop you can swing for i5 paired with 4060 that will give you 700-900 price point

    • @bombshooter1507
      @bombshooter1507 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @troubletitty8605 never seen a 4060 paired with i5, only with i7. And the price point is around $1000-1200.
      Corpos have screwed us hard the last couple of years. I don't remember such expensive prices prior to 2021.

      @@bombshooter1507there's a ton of i5 paired with rtx 4060, acer predator helios with i5 13500hx and rtx 4060.

      @@bombshooter1507 I'm pretty sure Lenovo LoQ had that in their 12th gen (i5+4060) I'm not sure if they still drop those specs in their LOQ laptops or if you look at AMD variants like Asus tuff series

    I'm currently looking for a new 16inches gaming laptop. I'm a graphic design and motion designer as well so i basically need a powerfull pc for my job and for my free time as well to play video games. I discovered this pc that looks really great for a "not that high" price but i'm still not sure... I think i'm a little bit afraid of the fact that it's a "cheap" choice".
    I'm currently looking at this MSI one, at the Legion pro i7 and the Asus strix scar 16. My 2 last laptops were ROG so i'd like to change and not use Asus anymore but Asus still seems to be strong on the market.
    Anyone could advice me on which one should i pick ? (I know i'll have to put around 3k-4k$ on the table to get a powerfull gaming pc but i'm ok with that )

      Hi, I have already ordered the MSI Vector 16 hx, it cost me 2700$ without the delivery fee. It has 14th gen i9 with 4080, so high end specs. Although not many reviews are available on this laptop, the few I found (like notebookcheck etc) concluded that it has amazing performance (~ 32000 score on cinebench R23 for CPU multi core, and more than 100 FPS on AAA titles) with relatively cooler temps. This laptop is basically a re-brand version of the older Vector GP68, where they have a lot better display in 16hx (1600p, 240hz, colour accurate) compared to GP68. The only major negative point of this 16hx laptop mentioned in the review is it's very loud and noisy fans at extreme performance mode, which can go up to ~ 66 decibel, so vapour chamber cooling could have been better. I am really excited for this laptop, and can't wait for it to arrive.

    What is brightness of those 240hz ips displays. There is no information on the website about this.....why msi do not put this on website and contrast ratio. Worth mentioning to them next time. 😂
