- It's mid March and the weather is still unpredictable. But I can't wait any longer. This week I'm sowing peas....some interesting varieties.

Thank you for sharing information about agriculture which is very useful and adds to my knowledge of agriculture
Thanks for watching!😊
Hello Fiona your plot looks lovely and so tidy. I totally agree don't complicate growing just stick the seeds in. 😊 Those blue peas sound great. Have a grand day
Hi Greta, nature will do it’s thing! Stick the seeds in and up they come……we hope!😁
It will be nice to watch along and see how the Kent blue does, plot will look good with all those pea flowers.
I’m very excited about my peas and beans this year! Just terrified I muck it all up somehow!😂
Great to see you again. Growing- heavenly!
Hi Rebecca! It’s great to be planting again. It never ceases to amaze me that all this stuff springs from the earth….it’s a miracle!
Hi Fiona. You’ll be feeling good having got some things started.I have a few seeds sown but plan to do more today, including peas. I’m trying new varieties this year, including alderman. No frost in our forecast for a couple of weeks anyway so hopefully things will come on well. Your plot is looking great. Happy gardening. Mags
Yes, it’s great to be getting started at last! I’m having to hold myself back now, from charging full steam ahead and sowing everything 😂. I haven’t tried alderman peas, or heard of them. I’ll be interested to see how they do for you. Thanks for watching 😊
Hi Fiona. nice to see you back i must of missed it seeing you put this up 3 days ago,,glad we are getting into the spring although the weather needs to warm up more looking forward to planting and good luck for the seasons ahead 😉
Helloooo! How are you? Yes, it’s just great to see spring advancing at last. Now I’ve just got to see if I can remember what to do. Wishing you a productive and pest free year!
Great to see you back and hands in soil. Looking forward to seeing your year progress 😊
Thank you 😊. It’s been a long winter and it’s great to feel the excitement of seeing our food grow again!
Hi from the US Fiona, I grew tall telephone peas previous 2 yrs with the aid of a 4 ft section of cattle panel - they do get tall, but simply fell over at the top & kept on growing - it was no problem; good & plentiful peas! Your allotment looks lovely already..
Hi Kathryn, so lovely to hear from you! That’s great to know about the peas. It’s so interesting to be able to grow unusual varieties of veg rather than just the bog standard ones. I’m really curious to see how they turn out. Thanks for watching 😊
Hi all im new here and new to growing I have a large garden I'm turning into a small allotment for my old age hobby .as anyone new I've got everything already planted indoors just too keen but very excited about this coming year ...loved watching your channel today xxx
Hi Kory, great to have you on board! Yes, it’s definitely hard to hold back with the seedlings at this time of year! If I had more space and a warmer greenhouse I’d probably have lots more in already. So exciting to start your own journey into veg growing…..it has a way of consuming your whole life!😂
Hi Fiona, we were deciding how best to grow our Kent Blue peas supplied by the wonderful Bill & Val last year at this time. Like you we went for sowing in pots rather than directly in the ground. This year we do have more seeds but I still have to decide if I can risk sowing some directly in the ground this year. I always find our direct sowings seem to do so much better. It should be fun picking those peas if they grow to their full height of 10 feet.
I’m delighted to spot that my Kent blue have started to germinate this morning! I’ll have to get up to the allotment to see if there’s any signs of life from the others.👏👏👏
Hi Fiona I started grow some seed only few not put bean in yet , look lovely sunshine there🥰
Excellent! I hope your seeds do well. Thanks for watching!😊
Hi Fiona we will be sowing our Kent blue this weekend, did val say that you can eat them as mangetout or leave to for normal pea , hope you enjoy them , nice to be getting your hands in the soil again .
Ah! That’s great to know. I’m really looking forward to seeing what they’re like. Happy growing Bill!😊
Hi Fiona 👋great to see you back! I haven’t sown much I’ve done my tomatoes and peppers !! Let’s hope we have a great years growing!! Xx
It’s early days yet. I’m trying not to sow things too early as they just sit there, taking up room in the greenhouse for months. Happy germinating!😂
i lost all of my first sowing of broad beans, (it was freezing) I've got another lot going in the greenhouse at home, I'm scared to put them out lol. I've recently found Real Seeds, looking forwards to trying them!
That’s a shame, but I’m sure your next lot will be fine….they’re pretty hardy. I love Real seeds. I’ve had to stop looking at their website so I won’t buy anymore!😂
Hi Fiona I always put lots and lots of peas into a shallow drill I never space them out they come up and grow fantastic and there is usually enough foe mice to but I slwsys put Holly over the top to stop them
Hi Gaynor, yes, I’m sure this is the right thing to do. I wish id sown mine thicker, I always feel they’re a bit thin when they come up. Got to learn to ignore the instructions on the packet! The holly is a good idea too. Lots of great advice from you , thanks 👏😁
Hi Fiona I’m the same every year! What am I doing!?😂 I just checked my Kent blue and they’re just germinating! Hope yours do too well! 👍🏻💗🤠💪
Thanks Nick. Glad to hear yours have already germinated….exciting! It never grows old, does it?! I stay in a state of fear and insecurity until about June when I can really see things taking off😂
I don’t know if it’s a myth but my 82 yr young uncle says never plant garlic or onions with beans they don’t like each other 🤷♀️x
Ah yes, I knew there was a saying about something like that, I just couldn’t remember what! I guess I’ll try and do a bit of research and see if there’s any truth to it. The old wives (uncles) tales usually end up being true! But this time I hope not or I’ll have to think again!😂😩. Thanks for the tip.
Nice to have you back and raring to go
Thanks so much! It’s great to be back and thanks for watching😊
