  • The Hill Cumorah Pageant was an annual production of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) staged at the foot of the Hill Cumorah in Palmyra, New York. Premiering in 1937, it was considered to be the flagship pageant of the LDS Church.
It depicted Joseph Smith's encounter with the Golden Plates (translated into English as the Book of Mormon), as well as a dramatization of the events recorded therein. The pageant featured more than 700 cast members, 1,300 costumes, and a 10-level stage. It ran for seven nights in late July and attracts approximately 35,000 viewers annually. No donations were accepted and no tickets were required, although seating is first-come, first-served.
The Pageant was performed for the last time in 2019; the LDS Church announced plans to discontinue the event after 2020 due to new directives discouraging large-scale pageants. The final performance was postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19, but later canceled in full.
All rights to the respective owners. Thank you for this amazing production.

My Mom was in this many years ago, before she met my Dad. She was a Nephite. It was always her dream to take my siblings and I to see it. Years later, that dream became a reality when my whole family saw it. My Das even got his program otographed by his favorite Book of Mormon prophet...Abinadi. It was a special night for all of us 🙂

I haven't been to church in a long time, but we used to go to the pageant every year and I'm so sad I'll never get to watch it again in person. Randomly looked this up on CZcams today and I'm tearing up while watching it.

Aw man, they skipped the part where Nephi cut off the head of a man who was passed out with his own sword to get the brass plates! That was my favorite part!

My seventh grade New York State history teacher recommended that we attend this pageant at least once, and she was not a Mormon.

I am no longer a practicing Mormon, but I will forever have very fond memories performing in this during the summer as a teenager. ❤

They discontinued this because too many truth tellers gathered at the pageant and enlightened the poor mormons. Can’t have that now can we…🤠

When Elder Thomas talked about Jesus Christ at the end I felt a peace in me contrasting everything else I watch on CZcams. I know others who watch this will feel that too.

I have been a member for 21 years. I was fortunate to see the play at its last presentation. It was absolutely beautiful and so sincere. I was sorry to hear it ended but I understand the reason for it. I kept my program and have it to this day. I know the Book of Mormon and the church are true, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Thank you for uploading this video.

I’m in this recording!! We did it in 2019 just before it closed forever. It was such a special and spiritual experience. I was a Nephite and a torch bearer in the Abinadi scene!

I left the church years ago, but I miss this pageant. My family went almost every year and I have an enormous amount of nostalgia over it. Watching the play while eating salt potatoes is my version of heaven.

I went here for youth conference when I was about 13 or 14. Very touching experience and I definitely felt the spirit that day. I’m 37 now and will never forget that day.

I have never seen a production on this scale before on live stage, only in epic classic movies like Ben Hur or Cleopatra. I am in awe of the set, the people, and the overall performance. I just happened to see this video pop up. Wow. I had no idea there was something like this but the fact they can do something on this scale yearly is impressive. I am not familiar with LDS church but found it interesting.
