Fr. I had a family member who abused drugs and eventually died because of it, and part of the reason was that some of his "friends" would drink and do drugs in front of him, even the really extreme ones, right in front of him so he kept doing that shit and all.

I'm going to be completely honest rn, if you drink or do drugs in front of your friends who are addicts or alcoholics or recovering, or they're trauma gets triggered by things like that, or even if they simply feel uncomfortable (especially if you and/or them are under aged/what you're doing is illegal) then you're an actual ass and you deserve to rot. Is really doesn't take much to make Jules cheat, she is a mess.
1) Elliot was the one who suggested stealing alcohol in the first place.
2) He knew what Rue was on, you can't convince me he didn't know she was also gonna drink if they steal alcohol
3) Jules is the one who gave the drink to Rue, she didn't care at all until Elliot said something
4) If you know Rue's as high as she actually is, and still let her out on the side of the road instead of just taking her home like she first asked, you are a TERRIBLE friend, I don't care how close they were to her house. Anything could've happened.

I agree but I think Rue needs to focus on herself more before she gets into a relationship. There was a waitress in the special episode that said exactly that: in order to get clean, you have to not be in a relationship just to put all your energy into getting clean. One of the main problems on why Rules doesn't work is (aside from the drugs) is how dependent Rue is on Jules and whenever Jules leaves her, she gets mad, depressed, etc...then turns to drugs as a coping mechanism.
Jules has a greater sense of her identity (although she's still a teenager and still figuring out) meanwhile Rue doesn't, drugs are the only important thing in her life currently so she's more susceptible to feeling worthless whenever their relationship doesn't work out. To Rue, that's literally the only thing defining who she is and holding her life together, which is why their relationship is walking on thin ice. I won't say Jules is self-centered but she certainly is very focused on herself and what she wants. She kissed Elliot because selfishly wants to, even though she knows that it will hurt Rue later on.

i think rue needs to get better first, and then she finds someone who's good for her. i feel like maddie and lexi are her only friends that are true to her. elliot is a terrible friend and jules is a disgusting gf. but like i said earlier, she needs to work on herself.

And Jules left he at the station which triggered Rue to relapse and lets not forget that Jules sort of cheated on Rue with that adult woman in new york and then acted like it was no big deal. I mean if Jules wants to be poly she should communicate that but she doesn't.

I really hate Jules as a character. She constantly puts rue in these situations knowing she’s an addict. She did it season 1 at the party and had rue crying saying she feels like a burden. Rues no saint don’t get me wrong but I realize Jules turns heels and runs whenever shit gets rough then just slides back up wanting to be friends again. She wouldn’t even have realized rue drinking unless Elliott said something

He told her to stop, not to not drink. Elliot is a hard user too so he doesn’t view her drug use as terrible, but he does try to stop her and gets visibly worried whenever she’s does something that might cause an OD.

Jules has always reacted to Rue as if she Rue supposed to be like all of her other partners. She was vocally unhappy about the idea of waiting for Rue sexually when they were probably only together for a couple of months… like what. And with the elliot and jules thing, she knows that Rue needs to develop more romantic comfort with her before she can willingly engage with her sexually and she dares elliot to do something sexual to her in front of Rue. Its completely inconsiderate and typical of Jules. The way Jules went about that entire situation could’ve only made Rue feel like she wasnt being a good enough partner for Jules and she had to develop quick sexually to deserve her. I’m not saying she doesnt care for Rue, but she lacks self-awareness and empathy, and if she really wants Rue to work on her addiction she needs to work on herself and take time away from her because she has been a clear trigger for her.

At the Halloween part Rue was able to Abstain from drinking while everyone else was. Jules probably thought it’d be the same thing which is why she thought something was wrong when she saw her drinking.
i like jules a lot despite some of her flaws we saw in s1 and beginning of s2, but this episode.... this episode really showed the worst of her.
She kissed elliot multiple times. that scene when her and elliot were making out AGAIN while rue was in the bathroom-- like girl wtf is wrong with you?? Show some GUILT, show some REMORSE. She does not even care, and is acting so normal around Rue while kissing another boy behind Rue's back? Cassie is in the wrong for doing shit with Nate, but at least she thinks she's genuinely in love with Nate and is going insane with guilt for her actions. Also yes i know Elliot manipulated Jules into feeling like Rue isn't that into her (ie: the whole talk about rue not being "sexual") and that rue doesn't give jules the attention and praise she clearly craves, as we saw with all the compliments elliot gave her that had her so happy. But girl.... just break up with rue, and then do whatever shit you want with elliot after ???
And then everything that happened here. why would she go along with the plan to steal alcohol, while all 3 of them are hanging out, and then expect rue to not participate?? they literally HANDED HER THE ALCOHOL. And then dropping rue at the side of the road?!?! tbh that's more on Elliot though cause Jules didn't know Rue was super high then, probably just thought she had some beer so she cant be that drunk and can get home safely. in hindsight, i think jules was upset in that moment, because rue said she cant stand her, hence why she let her go at the side of the road at night... but jules should still be guilty, like she's CHEATING??? and why would you act shocked with rue for lashing out, when you suddenly want to exclude her in the plans that THREE of you made. huhhhh.
And then... in my opinion, this is the worst part of what jules did, much more than the other 3: Jules fucking Elliot AFTER this man told Jules that he has literally been doing hard drugs with rue, behind Jules's back the whole time. This made me the most angry, like wtf is wrong with you. If she went and slept with a rando, falling back into her old habits due to not being able to cope with the truth about rue's sobriety, i'd be like "okay". but to do that with elliot... this shithead that's literally been knowingly helping rue fall deeper into her addiction ?!?! idgi idgi
I agree with everything you are saying. And I would like to add, Jules is Rue’s girlfriend. Doesn’t matter how much Rue wants to get out or that she lashed out at her. You don’t allow her to get out that car at night in the middle of no where after she drank some alcohol. Sober or not, that’s still dangerous. And another thing, if Jules really feel like Rue doesn’t feel sexual with her or whatever. Then talk to her, break up with her. Communicate for god’s sake. That’s what you do in a relationship. Not go and talk about your sex life with Rue with someone else and then proceed to hook up with them.

this whole ep is (well, season) so strange in regards to Jules cause it just makes Jule's ep where she's pouring her heart out to the therapist (talking about her mom and her love and fear for Rue and her sexual preferences and how men no longer interest her) kinda meaningless. That ep gave the audience a chance to finally see Jules and her side of things and now it seems like Sam is disregarding all that and doing whatever tf. And kinda feel bad for Hunter since she wrote a lot of that ep expecting more from her character.
This season is just proving that one person can't write an entire show and pretty cinematography can only go so far.

I’m amazed to see a comment section primarily dedicated to a trans character being bad with little to no transphobia and without making it about her being trans. As a trans woman myself, this gives me hope for the future. A trans woman can just be a bad, toxic person without it being about her being trans. The audience for this show must be super young and progressive
I think it’s a mix of ages. I’m in my mid 30s and watch this show, but I guess 30s are also young. And I agree with you. It’s nice that people aren’t focused on Jules being transgender and just focusing on her as a person who isn’t perfect.
Side note: she’s super pissing me off. I have been routing for these two since season 1. I watched her special episode and was looking forward to what season 2 had for Rue and Jules. They finally reunited as a couple and she immediately cheats on rue as soon as someone else shows an attraction to her. Ugh. She also said several times that she was a lesbian, yet hooks up with a dude? I know rue is far from perfect and lying to her and that’s also bad but for some reason this hurts. Rue really loves Jules and I’m wondering if Jules feels the same for Rue.

That's why Rue need Lexi. Lexi is very reliable and Rue can depend on her. She was already a good friend but Rue ruined the friendship. However, I think it's not too late to restore it. I believe Rue and Lexi will get close in season 3 and will be even better friends.

elliot comes up with the idea to steal alcohol, knowing that rue is high, and just expects her to not drink, even though everyone else in the car is? jules was supposed to be rue’s sober buddy in the s1 halloween episode too, her mother is an addict as well, she knows 1000% that alcohol and addicts, regardless of what they’re addicted to isn’t a good idea. i really liked elliot at first and i started to really like jules but this is a little much for me.
you know the thing this show does get right is the dialogue between teenagers, the awkward confrontation and the hurt disbelief when a friend or partner says something that gets to you. it's very well acted and I've definitely said some of the same phrases said here in my personal life, same tone and everything lol

When he went into the bathroom to take the drugs Rue left for him, do you see how he was thinking before blowing it off to the floor. Plus he was the one who suggest getting alcohol & then the camera turned to Rue.
His plan worked and Jules Well I thinks needs to be single because before all this went down in this scene, wasn't showing any ounce of remorse about cheating on Rue.

elliot’s just exposing the toxicity in their relationship and he’s not breaking them up, just making rue realise the bad things that jules has done.
Best of all is I love the roles that actors and actresses choose to commit to and play because it shows us a whole nother side of them we've never seen them play.
Plus it opens up alot of different choices and opportunities from other directors for them to be offered an even better role
It challenges them personally and sometimes even helps them heal from something they could be silently internally dealing with or suffering from. These characters help break down walls and push past obstacles they never thought they could.

You don't get this: Elliot is a plot device for Jules to realise that she's still very much into men, and not just any men, but Nate specifically. She's trying to run away from this through Rue, but it's obviously not working because she's in denial of what she really feels. We observe a parallel plotline on Nate's side, who, I believe, will undergo a redemption arc eventually once he acknowledges that he desires Jules. Both Maddy and (especially) Cassie serve as a substitution for Jules, whom he refuses to acknowledge that he has feelings for because of the inner conflict it generates. If you pay attention, you can find a plethora of hints of this happening. Either Sam is a genius and will deliver this plotline successfully, or he has no idea what he's doing right now, and guess which one's more likely... I believe that both the triangles he built now are there only for what I've just explained to transpire, because this is, without a doubt, the most (if not the only) interesting plotline in Euphoria.
From what I've seen in this show, I don't know how you can give Nate a redemption arc and have him end up with Jules no less. He freaking blackmailed her with literaly life ruining material and he's an abusive asshole. Even if the show wants to say that bad people can be rehabilitated, that can't happen in just a year or so which is how much they probubly have left in high school and Jules still shouldn't consider being with him. None of the girls should.

He's a very complex, interesting, and well-written character with great potential. People most of the time misunderstand what his actions actually mean. It's important to not throw out the baby with the bathwater. If I had time, I would explain the true motives of each of his actions. But I'll say that true change is never impossible, and although we'll have to deal with the consequences of our mistakes, the greatest person is the one who makes mistakes and is transformed in the process. With that said, if there is genuine effort to do so on someone's side, there's no reason to hinder them from doing so by throwing their past in their face but rather trying to understand it and encouraging the person correctly in the process. This is exactly what therapy is about.
