- Although a lot of emphasis has been put on the new cult faction, the seraphites for the last of part II we still have confirmation that the wastelands powerhouse - the military is going to be in the last of us part II in some way. The question is what way? The military - where are they in the last of us part II?
Hey everyone! In this video we’re talking about our favourite corrupt government remnant! FEDRA and the military in the last of us! During the last of us part ii psx 2017 panel Neil druckmann confirmed that the military will in some way or another be in the last of us part II. This video is dedicated to that. In what way will the military return? Where could we encounter the military in the last of us part II? What could their role in the story be? But… wait. Why are you reading this? Watch the video to find out what I think about all these questions on the military in the last of us part ii!
Enjoy!

@Erick Harper the last of maam's
There are definitely more zones out there still controlled by FEDRA and the US Military than are mentioned in the game. The Denver zone mentioned in Left Behind apparently had between 10,000-14,000 Military troops if the artifacts mention of military unit sizes is still consistent, which when paired with the presence of air power still, probably meant that there is a MASSIVE military zone in the city there. Hopefully they play a part in the new game.
Gotta also remember that the military was also probably decimated by the CBI as well since 60% of population was lost to it.
@Harry Paul That was disappointing. Literally, the only mention of them besides corpses was that they were in New Mexico recently.

They really should make a Military vs. fireflies DLC
I was kind of surprised when I first played the game that factions was hunters vs. Fireflies as in the lore the conflict between the military and the fireflies is much bigger than anything between the hunters and them. I don’t know about story but I’d definitely like for them to be in factions 2
TheiPadCat factions 2 has been leaked out to be a free roam with role options to be a soldier bandit mercenary hunters etc and also modes like survivors and supply raid returning not much said on interrogation but yep don’t know how much of this true but it seems like it could be really fun and a major step from the first factions

What if at some point FEDRA will become Ellie’s ally?
Yeah if i didn’t mention that in the video I forgot it. I’d like to see a military faction in a post apocalypse setting as something else than clueless idiots or brutal oppressors. Fedra as an ally would be really cool!
I like the idea of FEDRA being an ally too, but I think it's a little unlikely. They're still a totalitarian group who have already lost several of their territories. It could be possible that they're trying to reclaim what they previously had to abandon. Like he mentioned, the Jackson Hydroelectric Power Plant used to be a FEDRA facility. Maybe they're trying to reclaim it and things get out of hand. It would make sense for Ellie to decide to blame what's left of FEDRA on the attack on the dam, the possible death of Dina, and maybe even the massacre at Salt Lake City (Joel could lie and tell her that FEDRA attacked the Fireflies and killed Marlene instead of him). Judging from the bodies we see scattered around in the trailers and the demo, I believe that these might be what is left of FEDRA trying and failing to move back into previous zones, such as Seattle.
I would like to see FEDRA once more in the game either as enemies or allies. Just cause they are least explored of the game plus they super well armed.
@@itsblitz4437 They never mentioned the military in TLOU2. I can't help but feel that the military has fallen,😞

If they show up in tlou 2, they better get a new uniform look
Well I’m sure they’ll get some minor tweaks but the dirty blue uniforms are meant to be old riot/police uniforms & gear that they had to resort to wearing once regular military equipment became scarce.
@@TheiPadCat unfortunately the military was never mentioned in TLOU2. Can't help but feel that they have fallen too
The reason they wear blue is because camouflage isn't all that necessary vs zombies but the main reason is because dying something camo pattern is expensive. Blue dye is cheap. I think they took inspiration from the WWZ book on this.
i hope the last remaining US Govt will become part of protagonist side rather than more of antagonistic side, like they will following fireflies plan to find cure or others great heroic plot. FEDRA and the military in this game written like they just desperate government with no ambition, orientation, or long-term plan at all other than containing uninfected human
Yeah I’d love to see a story told from their perspective. It doesn’t have to be heroic or standard “good guy” stuff. I feel that would be a bit out of character for them. Though I do believe they could certainly be a bit more nuanced if we weren’t learning about them exclusively by fighting them or finding the ruins of their lost cities.
My guess is that , they primarily operate on the non-continental parts of the US. Alaska would be good due to its low population and abundance of resources, and Hawaii would be an obvious choice for the Government to be headquartered.
A few notes mention of a “FEDRA central command” in part II. Considering the Pittsburg QZ was in contact with higher ups in the Atlanta QZ During the Hunter insurrection only a few years prior to part I, I would guess that that centcom is either there or, it’s their new HQ
I would think the navy would have a good chance of survivability in the last of us. No infected in the water.
Initially I’d say the same. But imagine an aircraft carrier with thousands of sailors needing all kinds of supplies to survive. When the mainland all but fell apart into nothing but small QZs there’s no way they could help them with things like that.
@@TheiPadCat they could fish food and that but the problem of what your trying to say is medicine
@Bekad Baens. Yup
Bekad Baens. If its carrier it works on nuclear reactor, they can Do fishing and filter water from ocean, also use Helicopters to move in QZ and back to i dunno trade some supplies
Until someone on the ship gets infected and all hell breaks loose
Would be awesome if in tlou 3 we came across a beached Aircraft Carrier with a faction based in it. And the leaders of the faction was the Captain and his crew.
Sometimes I imagine playing the character of Ellie in her military uniform supporting FEDRA, since she was previously part of the military school.
#TeamFEDRA
More ''factions'' in TLOU2 = More interesting...
hopefully the multiplayer will have more than 2 factions also...?
I think 4. Fireflies, Military, Seraphites & Hunter.
More choise would be great: 4 factions sounds good. Also more character-customisation would be nice...
Don't forget the Seattle Liberation Army in Part 2 as well.
I don’t think the military returns though :(
I feel that the military/Fedra was talked about even less in part 2. Yea there was talk about them in part 2 but nothing that we didn't really already know from first game.
I’ve not finished the game yet but at least early on I feel they’re touching a lot on FEDRA lore. Though I would much prefer to actually see them in action rather than just read about people that are long dead
I just hope that if they give us a DLC, it better be longer and more involved than Left Behind. LB wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either, I'd like to see a DLC story that's roughly 6-10 hours to complete.
My major issue with LB was how little replayability it had. Most people, when they’ve experienced that backstory once or twice will have had enough. There is nothing to pull you back in other than getting the 100% achievements. No enjoyable gameplay loop with upgrades or interesting encounters (for the Boston part of the dlc I mean obv).
Yes, I as a huge fan of tlou have played it countless times. But I can see why it’s not nearly as popular as the main story. All that’s left after a couple of playthroughs is the Colorado part where the only new and interesting thing is infected v human ai, which tbf quite awesome when it came out.
So yup I agree. Smth like the lost legacy but tlou would be the best in my mind. And I think my preferred focus is pretty obvious from this vid (think I said it? Can’t remember made it years ago at this point lmao)
I just want a backstory of this entire thing but not a 20 second clip by naughtydog I want a 30 hour game about it
Man, when everyone thought Abby was Ellie’s mom
I never did. But neither did I think she’d be the one she turned out to be either so yeah lol
3:40 Hahahaha oh how little we knew.
The theories put forward in the comment section are so much more exciting than what actually happened in TLOA2. Shocking sequel.
Love these kind of video, keep it up!
FEDRA is the national guard and ex police becoming a military administration. But I suggest the military has networks of assets far beyond the paramilitary FEDRA. They have bunkers they know GPS for, hidden warehouses. They'd be like Enclave in Fallout maybe, or maybe brotherhood of steel - but not babysitting civilians.
I think Last of Us producers were not brave enough to show real US army soldiers as the bad guys and instead they use private-security-like forces
I mean FEDRA is portrayed as bad guys in the first game and in the comics. They are the reason Sarah died, they enforce a harsh military dictatorship on the Boston QZ. Straight up execute everyone they deem insurgents or suspect of being infected as well as forcing all the orphaned kids to become soldiers. I’d hardly say that paints them In a good light. They’re not all bad but ND hardly certainly didn’t shy away from showing their darker side, just like every other faction in tlou.
If anything all they did in part II was to humanise them further, if you’ve read all of the notes you can find about them.
The reason that soldiers look that way in the first game is 1: because supplies of old world military uniforms have all been worn away a long time ago
2: they’re operating almost exclusively in urban environments, so there’s no need to make their new uniforms camouflage.
I hope they make a dlc about this like The Last of Us: Remnants of the Military or whatever
How's this for a name: The Last of us: Last Stand
@@templarnewsnetwork3326 that’s sound cool I’d like to see the military salvaging weapons just to give the individual rank and file a gun

I wanna believe that all the military regrouped to America's list remaining city that is still functional... Kinda similar the Maze Runners Death Cure city..
They are dead..
There might be some truth to that actually. In the Seattle downtown area there is a document making a reference to a FEDRA central command. If any place in the US would still be occupied by them that would probably be it.
And judging by how the Pittsburgh QZ was in contact with higher-ups in Atlanta in the last of us part I, my guess is that that QZ is their HQ.
3:40
Ellie's mom 😂😂😂
It would be cool to have a,dlc were you play as fedra
I agree but I doubt ND would ever deviate from the Joel/Ellie character focus. But who knows?
TheiPadCat welp we all know ND don’t give an F ab Joel and Ellie’s relationship now, I think FEDRA should definitely be a choosable faction for factions 2.
If more factions will be introduced in last of us 2 it will be like The Division but with Zombies
They should make a military last of us game where the military reorganizes and goes on the offensive.
I'm not sure about an entire game focusing on them as that would be pretty far from what tlou has established itself being about. Even though FEDRA is my fav faction I think expanding their lore is better suited for background story in either a spinoff / prequel about Joel, or perhaps as a co-op mode with story elements in factions 2. They could also go the route of doing more comics to expand the universe and their lore. However, tlou main-games are much more character driven, so I'm not sure it would fit FEDRA going to war (even tho it would be cool!).
Given what the shows said theyre probably rebuilding in the places they control espeically goergia which seems to be doing great.

Either that, or much of the military either ended up joining or even forming the Wolves and the Cultists?
military isn't a big part in tlou1
No, they don’t have that big of an on-screen part. But other factions don’t have that either. The fireflies are a big part of the story, but we only see them in their physical form for one chapter at the very end of the game. Same goes for the military. We see them for a short while in the beginning of the game but their role is much bigger than that. They’re constantly mentioned and referenced throughout the game like the fireflies are, and the results of their actions can be seen in the world almost everywhere. Joel is who he is because of the military. He lost his daughter because of their desperate attempt to contain the CBI. So yeah, the military doesn’t really have a big part as “actors” in the story. But their role id say is as important as the fireflies’.
TheiPadCat yeah, you are right.that isn't a big part,I only means it's not a big part to fight or combat with.we sure killed lots of hunter..
It wouldnt be surprising if the military lost control to the infected or to any rebel forces.
I like to think that the military in real life and all branches of government in real life would be slightly overrun in a few states then establish at least 30 outposts in one state holding at least 300 people per state possibly 400 and they would push the infected threat all the way back to another state and it would be like the Germans in world war II where they split up into two forces and surrounded them and cut them off and then practically sandwiched them
It’s amazing that, after 7 years of developing the most beautiful looking game ever released at this moment, that no one notices that because they don’t want to see the narrative.
I only started liking the game when Abby reaches ground zero. I want any information of the infected I can get
DC of course
most likely the US military headquarters when The Last Of us 2 was located in Virginia or in the middle of Washington DC or it could be in New York
The Pittsburg garrison in the first game reported to Atlanta, so that’s probably where the headquarters are. It’s also where the CDC is headquarter irl.
It’d be pretty nice if we’d get to know what happened with FEDRA, we don’t get to see too much, anything else about FEDRA in the last of us part two is just a bunch of dead winners with notes
I got a question I wish you can do a video of the soldiers turn into clickers and runners
If you watch the video you can see the dock yard are being gared my the milltary or fedra
Yeah I mean of course. The docks are within the QZ so it's their territory
Kinda felt bad for killing so.e of the Fedra soldiers they were just patroling
If they had made the 2nd one around them and some operation to clear the infection using some bio weapon and fired all the writing team at naughty dog first lol
Fedra prob is still chilling in Boston when fireflies got Rekt and Who knows how many quaratine zones are still active Fedra is prob most powerful faction in Usa

It is actually possible in tlou to avoid killing any soldiers
Not if you count the solider that kills Sarah, the ones who are executing some fireflies while you Marlene and Tess go to find Ellie or the ones that catch you outside the QZ walls. But the others you can just avoid
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Yo Joe!
