- Nice Cadillacs are still out there. Not all of them have been sent out of the country! This one is a great road car. Roomy, Very solid road feel. Yes, Cadillac "The Standard of the World" was still quite true in '72.

I like the way the cat is helping him point out the features he's talking about.
For my generation, the 70's were the pinnacle for Cadillac & basically the whole GM's line-up.....the automobiles were big, beautiful pieces of designed creativity for almost every vehicle produced from the late 60's THRU the mid-to late 70's......
my dad had a 72 Cadillac brouham it was gold but it wasn't a Fleetwood it had only 80 thousand original miles on it my dad told me he only paid 50 cents for it i could not believe that it was a steal but my dad end up selling it for $100.00 dollars it broke down this was back in the early 90s probably in 1990 i was 9 years old i wish i could of got it that would of been cool this car is a classic caddy great video
I own a car like this. It is gold on gold. Fleetwood Brougham for 1972. Elvis has driven it before. The car is in Memphis Tennessee.
use to own one of these, car was so big it had its own zip code
My favorite Cadillacs are 1972 and 1967 models.
I miss my 72.😭
Mine was triple black. Loved it.
@Chris Troxler I'm curious, was it a Fleetwood Brougham? It was, in my opinion, not only Cadillac's best looking model, it's, by far, my personal favorite, with or without a vinyl roof!
@@thomasshort1784 it was.
@@Chris_Troxler Thanks for the reply.
She is absolutely stunning.
I owed a 1971 Fleetwood and she was awesome.
I remember when I was a kid seven people would all get into these cars. Three in front, four in back. My mom always made everyone buckle up. It took forever to figure the belts out.
Those beautiful old Cadillacs just sort of "floated" down the road. Handling was not a priority - comfort was.
Beautiful! The '72s are what I think of as the last "real" cars, that includes all US makes and models... After 72, the manufacturers were forced to start adding more and more to 'em-( 5 mph bumpers, smog equipment, etc..) and in my opinion, our cars started looking more and more ungainly. Overly complicated technically, too! Cheers!
I have two 1998 Eldorados. Both need work
1972 is my second favorite year of the big Cadillac's after the 1970 model year, I agree 1972 represents the last of the great era of automobiles with good powertrains and drivability.
what is your first favourite year?
Awesome old survivor! I would not sell it either
I KNOW THE 3 POINT BELT SYSTEM WAS A LITTLE COMPLICATED ; BUT ONCE YOU WERE STRAPPED IN , YOU WERE VERY SAFE.......AND THIS CADILLAC SEDAN DE VILLE BROUGHAM IS GORGEOUS !!!!
I look for your videos and when i find them, i know they will be informative and enjoyable to watch.
A BEAUTIFUL CAR!
This model did not come with standup hood emblems, only the Eldorado did.
Good eye. You are absolutely correct.
frank mariano Many people have swapped the front of the hood spear to add the Eldorado standing wreath and crest; unfortunate choice.
Commonly dealer installed. My father had it done to his '73 and '75
beauty. yeah we never wore belts in the 70's.
very cool videos love all the information you provide
That is beautiful.
Absolutely GORGEOUS car!
I think '72 is the prettiest 70's front end. My first Cadillac was a '73 CDV. Your channel is a fantastic treasure chest of important information myself and others, I'm sure, appreciate your contributions.
There's a lot of nice 70s Caddys out there... They ride like a dream. Back then there were only a couple choices for an American high-end luxury car- Cadillac and Lincoln. Also, everyone could not get financed to the gills on a luxury car at like you can now, so folks who bought them generally had more money and took good care of them, or kept them in the garage and used them as a weekend driver...
I had one in the 80's A 72 and it was a blast to drive. Many trips to Freeport beach in Texas!
We had a dark brown 72 Fleetwood Brougham with brown leather interior, 60/40 dual power seats! Fantastic car with every option available except a sun roof, ours also had the power trunk pull down which this car doesn’t appear to have. I liked the panel separating the doors which they only had in 72, looked more “limousine like” to me.
@Ken Kw It sounds like it was Russet Firemist Metallic (order code=99), a $128.00 option, with Antique Dark Saddle leather (order code=085), a $169.00 option. A little trivia, that panel between the doors was standard on BOTH the '71 and '72 Fleetwood Brougham AND Fleetwood Seventy-Fives! The aforementioned color combination, along with the Dark Brown vinyl roof (order code=R), is, in my opinion, one of the best looking from that year. I'm curious, what happened to it and assuming it had the vinyl roof (although rare, I also know one could be special ordered without it), what color was it?
Your kitty has excellent taste in cars, glad s/he approves :)
One of my Top 10 favorite cars of all time! One of the Top 5 most attractive Cadillacs in my opinion. My Pap had a '71 model when I was a child in the early-mid '70's. I am most definitely NOT a muscle car fan. Give me big, luxurious barge like vehicles ANY DAY over speed, sound... 1971-72 (not '73... didn't like the trunk and front bumper/headlight design), 1989-93, 1997-99 Deville's, Fleetwood, and the '93-96 Brougham, the '92-96/97 Seville and Eldorado (and STS/ETC)(both pre-refresh), `80-85 Sevilles are all in my top Caddy designs. I am not an SUV/CUV fella either, but I really like the 2007-19 (third and fourth gen) Escalade. They kind of tickle my loins, too. Now if only GM would build a retro-inspired, V8, rear drive Fleetwood Brougham, life would be grand. I would even give the Escala concept car a chance! But for the love of all that is right and good in the world, no more 4 cylinder engines...
I couldn't agree more with you. Well said !!!
Many thanks!
Ty, My parents had a 72, which is the car I learned to drive on. So trust me, I can park anything after driving that car. It was Casablanca Yellow and loaded with all options, and really was the best car they ever owned !
The GOOD OLE DAYS! Or at least in my eyes... my first car was a '76 Lincoln Mark IV in Maize Yellow with a brown top and matching leather interior. She was a behemoth! But it was my first taste of freedom and I loved her! Too bad we don't have time machines to take us back to enjoy our younger years one more time! Happy Holidays, Martin!
To see one of these in the uk is a rare treat but I remember them from old cop car chases in old movies,I’d love one but born to late 😞
Thank you. Great informational video. 👍
Sewell is a big Cadillac dealership here in Dallas, Grapevine, Houston, and San Antonio Texas. In San Antonio they go under Ken Bachelor
I love your videos !!
J. Cunningham
Thank you for this nice Video 🇺🇸👍
Nice caddy nice kitty
Love the Caddy and the video, ol boy. Refreshing to see someone showing an antique auto without having to sell it like a Broke Loser.
Wow! That is a total beauty!!!!
My Grandmother had that Ice Blue with the dark blue hard top but in a Coupe de Ville. The first year for front impact bumpers and standard rear bumpers this is a trip back in time.
Love that 60/40 bench seat
Thejeepdoctor That 60/40 Dual Comfort front seat was standard on the Fleetwood Brougham model and had been since the '69 model year.
wonderful
Simply beautiful
Great classic car, I just like how the cat 🐈 walks up and stop 🛑 to look at the plate, as to say, these are the wrong ones...!!!
It's a Catillac to him.
like the car, LOVE the cat!!!!!
She thought it was a CATillac!!
She's a beauty
Kind of reminds me of my 72' Olds Tiffany Edition Ninty Eight I had.
Great car, Cool cat 🐈
GREAT car!
Was Made 5 miles from me. Beautiful owned a 1970 Sedan Seville.
Kitty loves it!!!😊
Mom & dad bought a brand new 72 coupe DeVille black on black it was a pretty car
It floats when it ride
Great car! How about the little trash receptacle at the front passenger's right foot? Is it present in this car?
Yes it is
@@buickguy1 If I'm not mistaken, the 1973 models were the first to have them as standard equipment. Nevertheless, I'm aware they were at least optional on earlier models.
man i had that wen i was in miami FL usa , smiley
Dream...dream...dreamy!!!
LOL "A Series 62 advertised as a Fleetwood." That's wicked funny.
This Fleetwood Brougham's color combination appears to be (and I'm pretty confident of the accuracy!): Ice Blue Firemist Metallic paint (order code=90 and a $128.00 option; I'm also aware of the aforementioned repaint but, it looks VERY close to the original!) with Dark Blue (I thought it was black upon first glance!) vinyl roof (order code=L; standard on the Fleetwood Brougham BUT, could also be deleted upon special order!) and Dark Blue leather upholstery (order code=066 and a $169.00 option). In my opinion, while I don't hate the Ice Blue Firemist color, if I'd ordered it new, I would have probably chosen the St. Moritz Blue Firemist Metallic (order code=92; also $128.00 extra) with that vinyl roof and upholstery combination. The St. Moritz Blue Firemist has a similar color value (more like a bright, deeper blue as opposed to a dark navy hue) as the Dark Blue leather option.
Dayam why wasn't the engine steam cleaned? Nice Caddy btw and a good narration.
NAME YOUR CARS! Get rid of that alphabet name BS.
Amen!
Tammy Eich and Chris Troxler Agreed! To me, FLEETWOOD sounds MUCH more appealing on a flagship sedan than CT6 does!
Was he hit from the right side?
Not for sale, dang, I really want it!
I have a 74 Caddilac Fleetwood Brougham and a 72 Oldsmobile 98 with a 455
472 ci not 572
i remember riding in the back of a 71 like this one when new. loved those foot rests
assume the original exterior paint was a blue complimenting the interior
I drove a 71 buick 225 2 door with that same shoulder belt set up. Never used it because it would restrict any forward movement. You can't reach the air conditioner controls or just barely reach the radio.
Is the cat included?
I'd love to daily this
need to buckle up those lap and shoulder belts on the test drive
very interesting that it didn't have the trunk assist and the rear defog, as my 1972 coupe deville had those options. I suppose they were an add on in addition to any car package
I noticed, as well, the lack of a rear defog switch above the radio. Isn't there usually a second switch above the radio also, but I can't recall what it was for?
the only thing I have seen was the convertible top and rear defog switch next to each other however I believe you could have gotten a power antenna that would mount in the same area.
Rear defrosters were still optional in those days. All Fleetwoods had the trunk assist, maybe it was broken or replaced with the DeVille trunk latch
I found a 72 Cadillac sedan deville for 4500. Is that a fair price.? Its all original in fair condition.
Needs to be very good shape
Those scratches inside the trunk look like fingernail scratches. Lol
A witch did it.
I was lucky enough to own one of the monsters in my early twenties. The man I bought it from said you could fit 5 golf bags or 3 bodies in the truck. I thought about for a second and replied, "Well... I don't play golf." 😆
I see it has sentenal. Automatically shuts high beams off when another car approaches you. And automatic headlights. This turns on headlights at night. These are the two knobs around the headlamp pull knob.
I'll take that one over Is a new one anyday
...Back in the mid 80s, I dated a lady who drove one of these..A little bit darker blue on the exterior...About the same shade blue as the interior on this one... Interior on hers was black...I'm not sure if the exterior had been a custom color choice of the original owner or not... She was never sure either, as she was the third owner when she got it, and it was kind of already on the beat-up side...The woman was tall and slightly stocky, so she liked being able to stretch out in big old Caddies and Buicks from the early/mid 70s... This had been one she got after a sleeper '75 LeSabre she had driven into the ground ... With that particular car, the body was crap, but when you lifted the hood, it was a totally different story... She left the Caddy as it was however, and just wound up driving it into the ground as well... Had a good smooth ride...Built like a tank and quite roomy inside...
The cat seems to like it.
Rocketjay12 😂😂, and the way that cat 🐈 stops and looks at the plate as if to say, “Wait this plate don’t match the one in the back, I bet the dog changed it...!”
Kitty is a model!
I'm pretty sure that the 72' caddys came with 472 cubic inch motor
@Russell Dean ALL did except for the Eldorados, which had the 500 V-8.
If you still have it, hold onto it for dear life. I wouldn't let anything like this fall victim to the Donkers!
The kitty was inspecting the license plate to make sure it is correct.
This era fleetwood has the big B pillar, the devilles and calais didn't. They were 4-door hardtops. That extra b-pillar width showed up in longer wheelbase and more rear legroom. Originally Feetwoods (60-special Broughams, Eldos and the 75-limo)would have the wreath around the crest, lesser caddies have the stylized V under the crest. Alas, all too soon the fleetwood became just a trim option on the same deville body/wheelbase.
you didnt show the reading lamps in the back
It is for sale by the way.
I have the same car same color but 73, mine has the plaid seats with leather. Anyone know why mine doesn’t have the hood ornament?
Jack Gentry only the Eldorado had the standing hood ornament until 1974 when DeVille and Calais were fitted with the new "see thru" chrome crest.
Randy Fitz no I’ve seen some with hood ornament. I’m thinking just not the fleetwood?
Mine had a chrome hood cap on it, with the flying lady. It was a 73 fleetwood brougham d’elegance. That cap made the hood want to slam shut. I traded it for the correct hood ornament. Nothing like being attacked by the hood of one of these things, while your under it. 🤣
Cat says "& you can fit a lot of cat food in the trunk"
My cats raid the fridge, not the trunk (I bet the've tried to get it open?)
Damn what a pimp Mobile
🤣😂😆
133 inch wheelbase, the deville was 129.5
I had a 1971 with a 472CI engine
@postersm 71 With the exception of the Eldorados, the 472 V-8 was standard in ALL other '71 Cadillacs.
I realize that this video is four years old, I’m a little suspicious that the right taillight was not all that visible during the walk around.
Keep in mind these videos are mostly just for information I'm not trying to sell anything. This car was not for sale at all. And I walk around and do the video and post it I don't edit or change I don't write a script I just make it happen and there it is. Sometimes I'll be very careful and explain a lot of details sometimes I won't. It's not that I am trying to hide anything it's just that I don't know exactly what the cameras covering as I walk around. And remember I don't edit I don't write a script I just say what's off the cuff
rodneyracer understood. 😀
I love the late 60s and early 70s Cadillacs. I’ve always admired the elegance and simplicity of the taillights.
Looks like Grandpa's car from the movie 'License To Drive'
"Where's my Caddie?"
Is a cruising automobile
1971-1976 CADILLACS ARE THE SAME BODYSTYLE GENEEATION WIHICH IS MY FAVORITE!
@Mario Gullette I've always been especially fond of the roof design of that generation's Fleetwood Brougham model, which is my personal favorite and the '72 in this video is no exception!
There is an actual space between the front and rear door
The 1971 & 1972 were like that. For 1973, Caddy extended the length of the front door to get rid of the spacer piece between the front and rear doors. The spacer was because the Fleetwood Broughams were a few inches longer than the Sedan DeVilles & Caddy used the same front door for both models, but the spacer look cheap. I like the front end of the 1971’s & 1972’s better, but I like the profile of the 1973’s better.
@@petermartinijr.1012 I had a 76 Fleetwood, last of the biggies
@@wurly164 Yea. I like the front end of the 75’s better, but I love the interiors of the 76’s much better. I don’t like leather seats, but The fabric they used on the early 75 Fleetwoods I hated. The late 75’s and all throughout 76 I loved to velour seats on the Fleetwoods and DeVille D’Elegance
Should be body by fleetwood onthe the tag
These cars are still reasonably affordable. 70s cars were probably the biggest and most comfortable. 80s American sucked, 60s was what early 70s improved on, 50s iconic, 40s Gangster, 30s Classy, 20s Wildcatter, 10s a horse was better!
I have a 73
Sup bruh! You didn't put any stupid 24s on it did you???????
Body by fisher?
Yes, the big Cadillacs, Oldsmobiles (Ninety-Eight) and Buicks (Electra) were "Fisher Body" cars.
1VaDude your forgetting, the fleetwoods were made in the fleetwood body plant.
Well, that makes sense since the Fleetwood was the pinnacle of the Cadillac line (although some people say that about the El Dorado).
I had a 1964 Sedan deVille and it had the "Body by Fisher" emblem that was visible with the doors open.
Back in the day GM bought up The Fisher body company along with Fleetwood. Chrysler bought Briggs and Le Baron and so went the small custom companies . I'm not sure whether GM bought them put or not but in the '50s Buick and Oldsmobile station wagon bodies were built by Ionia and trucked across town to be assembled
@@1VaDude in 1972 Eldorados were still Fleetwoods. Cadillac made 2 Fleetwoods, the Fleetwood Brougham & Fleetwood Eldorado. I think in 1974 Cadillac dropped the Fleetwood designation from the Eldorado name.
Cadillac
I think it's funny, looking at the size of a regular Sedan DeVillle, close to 24 ft long. Then to think the Fleetwoods came in extended wheel base? Was that really necessary? 😒
Yes, it was. And BTW, the DeVille was far from 24 feet long ! Check your facts.
Yes. The huge cars of those days didn't put all of that size into the cabin. The interior of a 70s DeVille was indeed large, but the downsized big Caddies of the 80s and 90s often had interiors that were very nearly as large. The 70s Fleetwood interior, by comparison, wins in the size department hands down and everything that came after was inferior. If you really want the true, grand excess that was Cadillac, then that extended wheel base is totally and completely necessary.
WOW a Sewell Village Cadillac from Dallas NICE But I liked our 1972 Olds 98 LS better..
👏👏👏👍😶🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 V8
Beautiful car, headlights arn’t my style tho.
My folk's 72 Olds 98 LS was nicer we had a clock in the back seat. their other 98's had tissue dispensors and later ones had map pockets
A very long time ago now, I owned a 1973 Coupe De Ville. It was very old and the speedometer did not work. The paint had several different shades of blue. Parts of the body had been patched, in the back. For all its imperfections, I can say that no other car made me as happy. I loved the long hood, the whole car. Today's cars are aerodynamic, logical, smaller and sensible. How very boring, they are also politically correct and concerned about their carbon footprint. Not very poetic, are they
You need a cam on a head mount so we can see as the driver sees. Example this video... go to 4:58...czcams.com/video/nhqOxak4D6Y/video.html
