    Bought my "salvage" GS 430 back in 2013 with 130k miles on it, now in 2022, at 240k it runs as well as it did when I bought it. I never changed the timing belt, runs super smooth with plenty of power. I have no desire to buy a new car, I am happy with my old GS430.

    I know im late to the party and might sound mind of bias but does anyone prefer the 98-05 Lexus Gs over the 06-current style? I love the interior and features of the 06-current but i cant get with the exterior styling and body lines. The 98-05 just exterior catches my eye as well the "bubble" headlights and taillights are iconic!

      The best thing about the '98-'05 GS versus the later ones is the inline 6. So many great luxury cars going back to at least early 60's had the inline 6 and for good reason. A v6 just isn't the same and likely not as smooth or sonorous. To be fair though, I haven't driven any other GS than my 2000 GS 300 which I've had since new. I do like the gens 3 and 4 body styles, but also not as much as gen 2.

      It has been awesome and still is. I had couple of things done to it to make sure it will run well (new cambelt kit, new radiator, new brakes, new fluids).

    I have the GS300 99, the only features I didn't know about was the key range extender, the wiper position and the carbon filter position. Off to try them now.

      Reporting back, just tried the wiper trick, that worked and the cabin filter, unable to try the key extender at the moment but im sure that will work also. Cheers.

      Thx! No, I did not cover that. 99% of the time that’s a bushing back there.

    When I was detailing Lexus' for a Lexus dealer in the late 90s/early 2000s we would shove the key blade into/under our chin to get more distance. They said it had something to do with the frequency running through your the bones as an antenna... Never knew the real reason why, but it worked. Nice video

    Curious to see if these tricks work on the JDM cars like Aristo, Altezza, Mark 2 and Crown. I'll try it out today.

    I bought a 1998 GS 400 with 178k from an auction for $1200. I drove is across country 2500 miles will no real problems. My mechanic informed me that rats are the engine knock wire and the vacuum switch valve harness, both of which triggered the CEL. During quarantine I’ve had the following replaced: knock sensors, spark plugs, vacuum switch valve connector, starter, rear breaks, and intake manifold gasket. This week I’m going to a salvage yard to pick up a trunk lid, rear bumper, rims from a 1st gen IS 300, and a side view mirror. I hope to be driving the Lexus soon. I’m proud to be a GS owner! The car is unmatched.

    I also own a 1998 GS400 as well as several BMWs and Mercedes. I can honestly say that my Lexus is the best car I ever owned. I recently experienced a radiator failure (in a drive-thru) at 498,000 miles. I ordered a new radiator online and plan to replace it with the help of a CZcams video in hopes of hitting the coveted half a million mile milestone. Keep the excellent GS content coming and thank you!

    Sensitivity for Auto Light function can be adjusted, DRL's can also be turned off, and a couple of other things that I cannot remember. The unfortunate thing for us, about pre 2007 Lexus owners, is that these things can only be adjusted through the Lexus C-BEST diagnostic/programming tools.

    Number 5.
    I had just gotten my GS300 (used) and I initially thought that the wiper was broken. I messed around and moved it up to winter mode (living in Seattle where it rains constantly) and got it back to where it was normally. Wasnt until this video where I now realise that its a hidden feature lol!!!

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum  Před 4 lety +1

    • @BKKgrind
      @BKKgrind Před 4 lety +2

      Forward Momentum Oh thats awesome! When I got the car and used the wiper in the summer mode, it kept making a loud “bang” whenever it went down. Thats what made me think it was broken initially. But I plan on keeping it in winter mode since it rains spontaneously here quite often.

    One from me: If you press and hold the electric steering wheel adjustment button to extend to it's maximum position and then press the button 8 times it extends an extra 0.5inch. Same applies for the wheel going up or down.

    Can confirm the window roll down work with the key in the locks on a 97 Aristo. No sunroof though on mine.
