Today its time for the 16th episode of this series: Air Forces Rank Guides.
In today's episode we'll feature British Rank II. I'll give you an overview of the Planes, which are the following:

@@jengar6258 when i played the lower spitfires, they still had lower br, so i felt tehy were op...even when i was a noob :-)
should try them out again now, but those missions and stuff always require rank 3 or higher :-/
Mk1 and Hurricanne. I remember the youngling in their biplanes i was on hurricane 2 and basicly wiped out 90% of the enemy team... . And spitfire Mk1 because even if it overheats i know that BF109E-3 and re 2001 cn is even worse on that issue plus it basicly the best performing rank 2 overall for just being tad more stable and at least having a reliable enought weapon set that you don't have to worry of running out of ammo.

My biggest problem with the spitfires are their brs. Before the change props as a whole were quite perfect as they were but this changing kinda ruined the early spits also jengar the wellington gets a 4000lb bomb so can bring it into Tank battles and wreck everything. Its the allies pe 8
yep, thats about the only good think about these wellingtons. Useless for anything else.

I absolutely love the Hurricane models. I regularly find my self coming back to fly them just to have some fun and a have nice relaxing game. Especially after trying to put up with the playstyle of top tier

honestly the russian hurricane with the 2 20mm's and 2 .50 cals is the best variant of hurricane. strong firepower, climbs pretty good and obviously turns pretty good too

for silver lions and for a dedicated bomber pilot -halifax hands down is the best,are you outclassed...yep but thats what makes this fun i prefer a strong match instead of a rollover.bombload at its battle rating is imo the best,can kill 3 bases and attack the af if flown correctly by itself.A player preference for the halifax some people will love it some will not. thx for the video as always...cheers

Something else about the Typhoon: its performance noticably suffers at high altitude. You really don't want to engage anything other than the odd bomber above 5 km. You'll lose a lot of horsepower and you won't be able to keep your engine cool. The Typhoon is a plane that benefits best being kept at medium altitudes and flown fast.
It can use 120% mixture up to 2400m imo climb to 3000m and above if needed. Then lure people bellow 2400m or dive at them so you can use the high mixture set at supercharger 1 to out perform people in turns.
@@Errorcutive That still fits with the advice that I gave. MEC or not, the playstyle is largely the same: Engage at medium to low altitudes, and keep it fast.

Typhoon main here. 100% correct, she'll treat you well at med altitudes and high speeds but go too high in pursuit of bombers etc and she wont like it.
Not interested in playing Britain and not really a fan of British planes but as an Italy main and an Italian myself I feel obligated to do some research on the _enemy_ ,Spitfires used to be the bane of my existence with those little peashooters always pilot sniping me, but now that I can understand what are the strengths of a plane as soon as I play with it they really aren't an issue, the guide definitely helped me coming up with a couple of ideas to counter the low tier Brits with all the nations I play

I really like flying the bv138 which is a 1.7 bomber. It only has 6 50kg bombs but like the Sunderland Mk V it is an amazing gun ship. You get 1 20mm firing forward, 1 20mm firing backward, and 1 13mm firing backwards/upwards. Could you make a section after the plane reviews taking about the ammo belts, which ones are the best and which ones to avoid etc... Great Vid Jengar! o7

Hi jengar for spitfires try this
Open mec menu
Mixture:
120% @ 500m and lower
115% @ 1000m and lower
110% @ 1500m and lower
105% @ 1900m and lower.
100% @2000m and above
85% @ 3300m and above lowering from here as you go up unless its mk ix and above which just use supercharger 2 @ 5000m.
Note for LF mkix and tempest typhoon supercharger 2 begin at 2400 120% for typhoon tempest @ bellow 2400m. 100% mixture @ 2400m and 85% @ 5000m
Prop Pitch:
Fast climb: 100% @ 20 degree
Turn: 100%
Rush Climb: 85% @ 14 degree
Max forward speed and dive: 85%
Boom and Zoom / Energy fight: 85%
Also at 85%-80% it wont overheat with wep.
These Increases performance greatly for climb, turn and speed. At 115% altitude you are faster and keep energy better up to consistent 300kmh at turn without deccelaration.
Radiator for mkI should be kept at 100%. MkV Can go with 45%. MK IX go with 35%. MK XIV keep at 45% for climb and open more after fight if you wep too much.
If map is hot like china and italy go 100% radiator the loss of speed is worth the extra freedom to use WEP for everything.
I bind my mixture to 6-7 while radiator binded to 4 and 5. Supercharger set at F5. Prop pitch to mouse side button. If you get used to this you can maximize the performance beyond the stat card.
Also i flew spitfire almost exclusively for a year so i kinda knows their ins and out a bit.

@@jengar6258 i just kinda noticed it working since my Mk VC Trop spitfire is always higher and further than anyone else at takeoff. Mixture injection sorta works like NOS imo.
ony good thing about wellington is dropping 4000lbs bombs on ships in arcade where it takes 40 seconds for it to rearm in the air, can be very destructive

good to hear mate! welcome aboard! o7 and enjoy the game, dont grind yourself to dust. Play for fun, and with what you feel like. The grind made more casualties then you think ;) relax and enjoy. there's no hurry.
the spit mk I and IIa honestly have no business being at 3.0
They still do pretty good even at 3.0 because they get sucked in that br range between 2.7 and 3.3 most of the time, the real problem Is the IIb that by being at 3.7 It gets uptiered almost every time against planes that are way superior, like the 109 G6 for example.
@@Atlas_M don’t distract from the problem. 3.0 meaning potential uptiers to 4.0 is absolutely ridiculous for a this early merlin spitfire. I vividly remember struggling against german p47s and early spits still absolutely struggle against air cobras
@@Shinyworldwide yeah you are right about that but its still something that happens very rarely, at least thats what i can tell from my experience.
@@Atlas_M uptiers are a hit and miss experience. Some players get them very often, others don’t.

Imagine playing war thunder and having fun
Quick question: What happened to the plan of doing this style of video, but for the premium/event planes? I think in the beginning of the series, the plan was to release another video for a covered nation after finishing that nation's last tank, looking at all the premiums.
It's a huge job, lots of work for each video. I will first go trough the regular trees, and the premiums will come later. The regular trees will take years.
For me outside the spitfire and the typhoon all of them especially the hurricane are horrible
hurricane is a great workhorse in my opinion.
@@jengar6258 it simply dosen't work for me it feels so damn slow and i tried other turn fighters the c200 its even slower at the same BR but it feels faster either way the spitfire is nice althought the BR its kinda high
Just started british bombers. Geez what a pain after Hampden. By the time you get to the first drop the fight is almost over becase the speed is barely 230 kmh. The turrets are non existent. Absolutely unplayable. I play air battles mostly so I don't care about ground battles

Depends on the pilots tbh, and the starting positions.
Baufighter 10c has ground blet for 20mm you don't need rockets to kill tanks from the roof

The premiums will be done in seperate vids, after i go trough the regular trees. This will take a couple of years.
I would disagree and argue that the spits are a good plane for a new player. It punishes you for messing up while rewarding good positioning and dogfighting tho overtiered none the less

Do you really think the Hurricanes are bad climbers? I think you underestimate them! You can climb in them very steaply under 200km/h, far over 20°! So you are able to climb over 20m/s.
but that doesnt give you the best climbrate, you need to go faster then that. From the top of my head 230/240 is the best climbrate. You climb by speed not by angle.

I think the whole BR system is so dated now; if they are going to do it they should have a panel of professional players to set the ratings instead of based off an algorithm. It just sucks the fun out of flying. Sunderland is awesome.

Spitfires are truly terrible with joystick ...pretty much the worst handling and most difficult to control (with joystick and I normally fly with cockpit view or first person in battle) I've ever tried. Ironically the spit should be nicely balanced an a pleasure to fly ...and I'm old and being have playing various flight sims since flight sims came out. I have messed with settings too. They almost feel like the c of g is too far to the rear. Really, really poor implementation on Gaijin behalf.
Okay, i've never flown with joystick, so ty for that bit of info. These early spits are too high in br, later on it gets better with spits. At least on M&K. And with that i want to say one can make them work, but they are underpowered in HP.
Spitfires (both real and in game) need a delicate hand to fly. The elevators are extremely powerful, which makes high-speed stalling an easy trap to fall into and if you're in an uncoordinated turn (i.e. not using the right amount of rudder) then that stall can quickly become a spin.
Once you realise that you barely need to pull back on the stick to out-turn most enemies it becomes a lot easier to manage. Keep your speed up and let your turn rate win the battle, rather than always turning as tight as possible. Applying a bit of nose down trim before dogfighting helps too. I usually use about -10% or -12%
@@MrWillNeedham I've used flight sims and games for many years (some are better than others) ..I'm an old git. The spit is very responsive on the elevator but in warthunder it's excessive and unrealistic. The spit isn't the only aircraft with the issue, I suspect gaijin, in order to fettle good turners response in mouse mode, overdo its effectiveness when using a joystick. Not only that, it feels as the C of G has been shifted too far back, so that it tightens up the pitch, almost as if it were a canard equiped aircraft.

I won't disagree that the Spitfire flight model is a bit odd in War Thunder, but it's not completely broken. I find they're quite enjoyable once you've learnt their limits, and certainly not unplayable.
As for realism, the Spitfire was always known as less forgiving than the Hurricane. The two issues that cause the big problems in War Thunder (side-slip and elevator forces) are both things that a real pilot can feel through their seat and stick. In flight sims we just have to guess instead, which makes them much harder to avoid. Riding a bike is easy, but imagine a bike simulator that required you to balance - it would be almost impossible. Perhaps the Spitfire is fairly accurate, just not well suited to flying without physical feedback. Unless I win the lottery, I can't say for sure!

@@diostomate8225 and oxy is a great content creator btw. I've had the ideas for these video's since 2016. But always shied away from them, as they are a huge amount of work. Then in 2020 somewhere i saw a tank related rank review by oxy, and seeing my old idea in reality motivated me to finally start making them for air rb.
