Today its time for the 9th episode of this series: Air Forces Rank Guides.
In today's episode we'll feature Soviet Rank I. I'll give you an overview of the Planes, and then will give you a guide on which planes to use, and perhaps put talismans on. I'll give timemarks on the different planes, and i'll link you to Full reviews of the planes that i did do in this rank.

Great video. Always enjoy flying the BB1 and early SUs - as a joystick pilot the lower tiers allow you to temporarily suspend the laws of physics and get the maximum fun factor. Sure you’ve got to grind your way up the ranks as wel,l but for me, grinding has never been a case of spade it and then forget it - too many interesting aircraft for that.
I'm up to 8.0 BR in most nations and I hate it. I mostly play 4.0 or below.
@whatdothlife4660 I have higher tiered planes but yeah I spend most of my time 4.0 and below as well. What's your handle?

Same, I'm just entering rank 2 and really struggling a lot on arcade. After all the Soviet planes get really good later on about when they start making jets.

At the shot you hit at 31:52, I litterally raised my eyebrow and went PHA

Great video as always! This is my favourite rank 1. Really fun.
Really like the Ar-2 in Ground Forces. It has 4 drops of 250kg bombs, bomb sights and air breakes. It can also take a beating from 7.7mm guns.
I also like to do toss bombing against open top AA, since you then can hit them from outside their range and overpressure takes care of the rest.
I've had a lot of fun using the ar-2 in rank 2 as well. For a bomber I find it very maneuverable and fast.
With custom bombloads you can actually take 6 250kg bombs, making it a total menace in Ground RB

Hey Jengar, great vid as always. However, I have done some tests on the I-15's, and they actually differ markedly, as follows:
I-15 M-22: Has WEP, negligible overheating! Can climb at 30 deg slowing to 100km/h at 2830m. Climbing at 25deg, only slows to 100km/h at 4200m!
I-15 R: Has WEP, (cannot maintain 30deg) Climbing at 25deg, engine overheats at 2500m, slows to 100km/h at 2830m.
I-15 WR: No WEP, (cannot maintain 30deg) Climbing at 25 deg, slows to 100km/h at a mere 830m! Overheats badly!
Also, someone pointed out in comments of your previous I-15 R video, the WR has the wrong FM as the elevator is modelled incorrectly. So it really sucks overall!
Note also that in X-ray view, the engine horsepowers are not only incorrectly attributed to the planes when compared to performance, but all three actually behave differently even though the X-ray claims there are only 2 powers of engine! (The M-22 is claimed to have only 75% engine power compared to the other 2, but in-game it totally outperforms them!)

AR-2 is actually a really good plane for air RB; the bigger engine, improved airframe that locks up less and especially the access to airbrakes make all the difference; the thing is an absolutely supreme divebomber that needs to dive only 500m or so to get a good target solution, and then can regain most of that distance in a few seconds; meanwhile it's speed and rate of climb allow it to outpace much of it's competition in fighters while the incredible turn speed gives BnZ planes trouble.
In ground RB it's ok with the heavy bomb load but quite vulnerable to SPAAG's, so the IL-2 and SU-2 are better there.
Will have to revisit someday!

I play almost exclusively low tier bi planes with the I15 there is nothing like turning and burning and just peppering whoever is unlucky enough to get in front of my guns. When the stars align these planes are magical . He51 is a close second. ❤
You missed something. The first and third Su-2s have insane heavy armour at the rear covering the rear gunner and pilot completely. Something like 30mm steel plates followed by 10mm steel plate. You can literally just fly in a straight line bombing shit and guys behind you have no chance of doing damage since not many planes at that low BR have 20mm or higher cannon necessary and many choose to load incendiary instead of armour piercing rounds.

The third SU-2 is actually a really nice plane with the armor plates (they're 10mm+8,5mm btw, still really good for the tier as most 7,6mm guns cannot pierce even the first plate), upgraded engine and second rear gunner position; still it feeels like too much of a BR jump going from the BB1's 1,3 up to 2,7 without any significant increases in either bomb load or flight performance. (the last SB-2M has the same problem; it sits at 2,7 despite being downright worse than the AR-2 (which is 2,3)
Still, I feel like all of these planes are pretty decent even when overtired; their combination of impressive bomb load and mobility makes them all quite good planes for the BR bracket. (SU-2's are great for hugging the ground and just killing all the ground targets/bases with 50KG bombs and 4x ShKAS, while SB-2M's can climb at the start of the match, then, safely drop their bombs to finish off the enemy bases/stationary targets with their 500KG's after the rest o your bombers dropped their loads and safely return to base beffore the enemy can catch them.
You should really also include the premium vehicles and determine whether they are worth it or not worth it and then recommend some talismans anyways great vid and cover Britain next I already want spitfires because it would be the first plane where you don’t actually need to tell people if it’s competitive

very good video as always m8,i can tell your not a low tier fan of the bombers but thats ok-being a ftr jockey i get it,however i find myself attracted to bombers more than ftrs -just a personall preference,the yak 4 is a bit slow for my taste and much prefer the ar2(specilaized) i make this bomber sing and have almost maxed this plane out in every catagory and it does make a difference in flight performance as well as shooting down a fair share of ftrs :)-no critisizing of you at all - we all have our fav from each nation and tiers.keep up the great work --cheers !

I really like the I-16 type 5, its the most nimble one and the 2 guns are still ShKAS firing at 1800rpm, so they have a one-second burst mass of 0.58kg, higher than the 0.48 of the I-15 with its 4 PV-1s. It's probably why you can kill pillboxes with the I-153, its 4 guns put out more lead than 2 .50cals.
I've been playing a lot on Sim VR lately. Started the USSR line and that plane flies great in a fight.. But the damn scope in your face, and no trim whatsoever. So you're constantly fighting the plane
Thats why i loved the yak 2 kabb since it buffed the shvak tracers i think in direct hit update....

I really like the i-16 type 10. I want to use something for 2.3 br. I was looking at the type 18 and the type 24. Looking at the research page it says the type 10 is the fastest with the best turn time. But then wiki gives something different. Maybe I should just get to type 24 and try it.
After watching this video I grinded to rank 2 so easily :D

How does rank and br work in matchmaking? Is it dependent on what aircraft you have in your nation lineup?
In my opinion those i15 are even better in ground rb because they can carry bombs also in ground rb other people will be more likely to turn fight you and at that point they are already dead ;)
Sry, but youre wrong about the 2-oP! Its supposed to take into top tier MM and troll the hell out of people while still having fun. Plus its always fun to kill a Heavy tank or in rare cases a jet with your Biplane. (dont have it sadly, but thats what i do with my swordfish which is rather similar)

You know somebody took a Russian reserve bi plane into a top tier battle and managed to kill 2 Apache helicopters and a Abrams tank with its 2 100 pound bombs

I have a question about the S.O.8000 Narval and the A2D-1. How long is the Bomb reload time in arcade for this thing? I ask because there seems to be no standard for gaijin.
for the Narval, I think around a minute and a half for arcade with full reload time in crew. A2D is an attacker, so with the same full reload time in crew, maybe about 20-30 seconds, maybe less

I just started getting into rank 2 planes for USSR I cant find much info on planes of Rank 2. I see a lot videos of the lagg 3 premium that's was removed.
after i review the current patch planes, i will continue with rank II soviet guide.

I swear, the Russian Bias on the I-15's are real, I was dogfighting the premium one in a 109 and lost, generally I'd be fine if I lost as long as it was a fair fight but the damn thing did a complete 180 in less than a second, like a car on the road doing a U-Turn. It shot out my pilot after that
Not sure what you expected trying to turnfight a biplane in a Bf-109.
@@DanieleCapellini honestly it feels like everything out turns a Bf 109. It is the textbook definition of a boom and zoomer. You dive down get a couple of seconds on target then you're right back up above it just to repeat it.
The high wing tear speed even for the 1.3 109 means you can dive to above 500km/h then go immediately into a stall climb and still manage to get a km above your target.
Chances of it that they won't have the energy to follow you.
