Today its time for the 17th episode of this series: Air Forces Rank Guides.
In today's episode we'll feature USA Rank II. I'll give you an overview of the Planes, which are the following:
P-400, P-39's, P-38's, P-40's, P-51, F4F's, F4U-1A, TBF-1C, A-36, A-20G, PBM-1, B-34, B-25J-1.
And then will give you a guide on which planes to use, and perhaps put talismans on. I'll give timemarks on the different planes, and i'll link you to Full reviews of the planes that i did do in this rank.

I find it annoying that in Air RB you cannot sit in a crashed plane if the pilot is alive anymore. Also, if you manage to fly and land a ""dead" plane with only one wing, it will not let you repair it anymore. This hurts the realism of trying to survive and limp a plane back to base to get repaired. What are your thoughts on this Jengar?

Great review! I can't even imagine the insane amount of work that you put into this! Really appreciate it. My favorite planes in tier 2 are the P51, P38s, and A36.
I like so far p39 and p40 (the second one i forgot it's name, it has white things on wings)
I remember starting out in this game, I fell in love with the P-39N-0, P-38G-1, and especially the A-20G-25. I probably grinded half of rank II and most of rank III with my A-20.
In my opinion, USA got one of the best rank II lineups (overall, not just playability) in the game, surpassed only by Japan which to be fair, Japans rank II is abnormally awesome.

I’d recommend the p-38 if you plan on continuing through the American tree you will unlock the f-82 and they play in a somewhat similar way.
love the p-38's, absolutely one of the major options to focus on.

Wow! I am so glad you finally finished this video, I started with Americans, but I just can't seem to do well in them compared to other nations, sometimes I do alright, but its really inconsistent and I have a hard time figuring out what im doing right/wrong at times.
Same lol and I like Japanese but I don’t want to have to restart and in ground Japanese’s tanks suck so I am kinda stuck with the usa
I have the exact same issue. Everyone keeps telling me US is great and they have great planes, but i find them terribly inconsistent and not fun because of it.

I used all my research boosters last night so it's a slow grind today

im back, needed a small break! working on new reviews and on Rank III USA.
I didn't use the Wildcat very long. I'm on PS4. Looked at my game stats one day, and noticed I only ever got one kill in it. However, it was a memorable one. Low and fast with the two 100lb bombs, had a P-40 high and left rear quarter coming in VERY fast. KNEW he was going to overshoot BAD. Pulled hard up and left bleeding nearly all energy, reversed hard right and guess who was in the perfect lead and got hosed 😂😂😂
Will you continue these series it really helps me to select which aircraft to research thanks for these guides.
They will continue, im almost done editing rank III. And already collecting footage on rank IV.
lol i dont even need these tutorials im a veteran player but i still love watching these types of videos. event the begginer tips and tricks are good for some reminders on the basics and sometimes you find these begginer guides that tell me something i dident know so keep up the good work content creators

most are still completely relevant, some br changed of course, but in general things should still be 90-95% accurate.

When I have two or three friends in my squad I have to say I find myself using the P-40s a lot. They're not great in any one area but man when you have some wingmen with you that can make up for your plane's slack it helps because you have more options in ho you can help your team instead of sticking to one style.
absolutely agreed mate, the p-40's are great to fly in a squad, it minimized their weaknesses and highlights their strenghts.
I love these as a new player they help me sm

the p-51 got a upgrade it seems its moved to 4.0 and is in rank 3 now,i can see that it was performing well in this rank to have moved so far.

Big upside of the 2.7 F4F is the ammo count not just in total but per gun. I'd rather 2 less 50cals and all that extra ammo

Exactly. Even if the F4F-4 was at 2.7, I’d take the F4F-3, because you’ll barely have to land and rearm with that ammo load.
My squad sometimes runs the a36 with gun pods and we terrorize people. 30 50cals shooting at people is pretty hilarious
pretty good video, although i personally have found the airacobras and kingcobras to be the most fun in the entire tech tree. yeah they arent the best in anything, but the guns and flight characteristics are decent enough to turnfight most things and you are fast enough to run away and boom n zoom those who outturn you. but i guess it is just my personal taste. *shrugs*

I disagree on your recommendation level for the P-40s, because I think they're a very valuable teaching tool. As you said, the P-40 is the epitome of a jack of all trades, it does most things well, but nothing really exceptionally. What it teaches is that you should learn how your plane performs relative to what you're fighting against and capitalize on your relative strengths while doing the opposite for your weaknesses.
Agreed to the educational value. But if i have to recommend ppl planes compared to other planes in the rank, this is my conclusion.
Excellent video. I cant tell if its your skill that makes your enemy look like bots but i see you dive on someone and they just fly straight as you line up your shot. The people i try to dive on start goin wild right away. In struggling with the aiming.
i try to approach from beyong immidiate vision, and in a dive i often cut throttle so they wont hear me .
Do the corsairs have airbrakes? B/c they were a real focus during the design process. And they were quite novel: the airbrake was actually the wing landing gear. There was a specific setting that would partially extend them. (I just watched the Greg’s aerospace and automotive video on it-that’s a great, super in-depth and researched channel btw, highly recommend it!)
Sadly not modeled in War Thunder, although the landing gear is strong enough to be fully deployed at quite high speeds for extra drag. Not fully realistic implementation.

P38 is my favorite plane of the war, But I find the P40 gets me a lot of kills just because the number of people that assume you're an easyou're an easy target.
yeah can imagine, p-38's are also amongst my favorites.
ya idk why wild cats are as high as they are on battle rating i feel like they did them dirty. even the hell cat seems to be low on the climb and turn rate when i know it was better then the f4u in that regard.

Better play Air RB or Arcade?
I kept trying to work out which belts you use - do you tend to use Stealth belts or air belts ? I couldn't see much smoke from the bullets so i am going with the latter. if so, would you recommend that noobs such as myself get practice in Arcade to learn proper lead before using them ? I tried Arcade a few times before moving straight to Realistic and have been there ever since but still struggle with giving enough lead on my shots.
i usually use either air targets or universal. But i have to say it varies per belt and caliber. i usually go for the belt with most HE filler when going for planes. leading takes time. tip: usually ppl dont lead enough, so lead twice as much as you think you need and if you dont hit reel the lead in until you do. This is often easier then extending the lead.

I actually love the Wildcat. OK, it has a lot of problems, climb, speed, acceleration, armament but they will out turn anything that's not Japanese and it's especially great if you are fighting German aircraft. You can totally out manoeuvre 109's and 190's. Maybe because it looks dumpy and fat opponents usually completely under estimate the agility of the Wildcat. It's under powered but if you fly American planes you need to learn manage altitude, dive and keep your speed up anyway, it's just an added bonus that you can out turn most opponents while doing that.

Had a needed minibrake. The 25:00 timer build up irritation, and sometimes the irritation rises to a hiatus.
I guess I don't really understand the difference between BnZ and energy fighting.

There are only two ironclad rules for the P-39 and P-63 series:
1. Never shoot beyond 300m from your target
2. Never try to shoot something without an *absolute* energy advantage

Ok, i used to hate p38
It's like my favourite rank 2 aircraft now together with p39. But the same doesn't go for p51.
Tell me ONE good thing about it. Cannons ammo runs out in 2 seconds, hard to aim, awful maneuverability and speed when climbing (as slow as a damn Catalina), it's bad at the one thing it's supposed to be good at. Seriously even when you get behind the enemy by the time you hit it your ammo has run out, or if you aren't behind the enemy, you will crit it, it will get behind you because you're faster and go in front of him, ans they'll kill you
p-51 needs a good sideclimb. Once up high its a great boom&zoomer that has the firepower to finish ppl off quickly. It has the qualities that fit the role.

@@jengar6258 ok i tested it again and the only place where its good is in arcade lmao, in arb even trying to kill someone with a brain with that plane is absurd to think, only good at maybe shooting bombers but you still need to climb
I play p38 and in realistic i usually get like ~3 kills, in arcade it's even more if i go for bombers, same for p39 but it's more inconsistent in ARB imo
@@nvs0p the p-51 isnt perfect, but its super solid. I have a 4 to 1 k/d ratio with it. And sideclimbing works 90% of the time if you do it right. Maybe you should watch my sideclimbing tutotial, in the tutorial playlist.
so many undertiered planes in us 1 and 2 ranks deff need to higher brs
they wont do it, as they still decide br's on the average performance. And the average player doesnt do too well in us planes.
