Eurovision has opened my eyes and ears to all of the beautiful languages of the world. Take this challenge with me and share your results in the comments!💚✌️
As a Spaniard, I understand how you messed up with Greek. The sounds and pronunciation are so similar that even for myself, listening to Greek feels like hearing someone speak Spanish but not being able to understand him xD
@@igordamaskin9285 it has 15% nowhere near 40%. It's a romance language ( 78/80 %) with Slavic , Hungarian and German influence. Thracian words aren't present in Romanian or at least there are so few they don't even can be considered an influence.
Spoken Romanian has a slavic tone/accent and many consonants sound just like I Ukrainian or Serbian so it is very similar to slavic languages if you just hear it and don't understand anything.
Jake, I hope you're well, we do all miss you, but I hope this video hiatus means you're working on your well-being and enjoying life. Your fans will be here when you are ready. Peace and love.
14/18 1. Hindi 2. Azerbaijan. (Swahili) 3. Romanian 4. Mandarin 5. Irish 6. English 7. French 8. Greek 9. Turkish (Armenian) 10. German 11. Spanish 12. Japanese 13. Korean (Cantonese) 14. Persian (Polish) 15. Dutch 16. Korean 17. Swedish 18. Arabic
Omg. Congratulations on getting Irish. Have you ever seen Americans try to pronounce Irish names? You should try it, very funny especially for us Irish 😂😂
I was very curious to find out what the languages talked about. My language Greek refered to Greek politics which was part of Greek news of Alpha TV. Thank you for sharing with us. If was a great quiz to test our geographical knowledge!
Aside from English, I got: - Chinese (Mandarin) - French - German - Spanish - Japanese - Chinese (Cantonese) - Dutch - Korean - Swedish (I'm Norwegian so that was easy.) I mistakingly guessed Hebrew during the Arabic part.
Hindi, Romanian, Mandarin, English(US), French, Greek, German, Spanish, Japanese, Dutch, Korean, Swedish, Arabic. 13/18. I thought i would do better, but ok. Its a great challenge. You should try geography tests too. Would be fun! Otherwise its so nice that they had different areas covered. The smaller languages don't get covered anyway, but this was still good.
I got 6. Greek, Cantonese, Dutch, Arabic, French and (obviously) English. Some I'd get painfully close and pick a neighbouring country where linguistically they're quite similar. I usually play this game on buses. You hear some migrants or tourists speaking in another language and try to work out which language it is. Also a fun game to play in international airports.
Jake I’m following you for a long time. I love your reacts but i’m upset cause of you hadn’t react DIMASH - SOS yet. Please react him 💞 He has the best voice in the world! I swear the god you’ll thank me! Love from Turkey 💕
My family is from Poland, speaks Polish, yet I totally got the Polish speaker wrong. There are dialects (similar to accents) in Poland so if you're closer to the German, Czech, or Russian borders there will be small differences in the language.
13/18. All of them except Hindi Swahili (I guessed Hausa, which is from Nigeria so at least I had the right continent 😕) Polish Greek (I thought it was Spanish too) Armenian
The Armenian isn’t the way Armenians in Armenia speak. It is known as the Western Armenian language because it is used by Armenians who were born in Iran, Syria, US, etc.
It's easier to look for clues as to which language group the language is. For example, Romanian is a romance language, but you can hear some slavic influence so it must be Romanian. You're not crazy for thinking Dutch sounds somewhat similar to English, as Dutch is one of the most closely related languages to English. Mixing up Greek with Spanish also make sense as they are very similar in phonology. They pretty much use the same vowels.
10/18 background: I'm a native speaker of Russian, can speak with varying levels of skill Ukrainian, English, German, French, Italian 1. Hindi - I was thinking Italian or Spanish, though knew I must be wrong because I couldn't actually understand anything 2. Swahili - I was thinking Arabic 3. Romanian - got that very confidently, recognised that it was something Romance, and the sounds (this "sc" bit, you know what I mean?) left no place for doubt 4. Chinese (Mandarin) - got that too, purely on phonetics 5. Irish - was thinking Portuguese 6. English (US) - well that was funny 7. French - got that 8. Greek - no idea but sounded very familiar , I was frantically looking at the map trying to think of an area or a language family or something that it was reminding me of. I think if I had remembered that Greece exists, I could have got it :D there was this "anaphero"-something sounding part that upon relistening sounds super Greek, I'm mentally kicking myself for this... 9. Armenian - no idea 10. German - first thought Dutch, because it did sound German but I couldn't understand anything, but then my ears adjusted and I started actually hearing words, so did realise in time that it was German 11. Spanish - guessed confidently 12. Japanese - did not guess, have no explanation for why not, am once more mentally kicking myself 13. Chinese (Cantonese) - guessed Thai , was very confident about it, should not have been! The sounds themselves distinctly reminded me of the Thai version of "Let It Go" :D 14. Polish - guessed Belarusian . Did not realise just how similar to Ukrainian Polish could sound, I thought what I heard in the video was far too similar to be anything but Belarusian and then I was very surprised 15. Dutch - well, now this again sounds like German, but this definitely can't be German, so... guessed 16. Korean - guessed, realised it was East Asian, so probably Korean, considering Chinese and Japanese had been there, but was not sure 17. Swedish - guessed. I thought I heard the word "England" pronounced in the German way, and then the overall phonetics was sounding Scandinavian. Picking from Swedish-Danish-Norwegian would have been a problem, but luckily, I thought I also heard "svenska"... :D I'm very curious to know what was actually said in the Swedish part - were those words actually there or did my brain imagine them?)) 18. Arabic - guessed too! Just the sounds themselves are very recognisable, I guess thank you Jake (and Kirill, of course!) for a very interesting video!
You are correct about the Swedish part, those words were there! 👍 "Krismöte i England om galna ko-sjukan. Svenska handlare är splittrade om det irländska köttet. Den sittande presidenten vann överlägset..." "Crisis meeting in England about the mad cow discease. Swedish shopkeepers have a split opinion about the Irish meat. The current president won with a landslide..." It´s from some old news cast I think.
@@marinagiraffe1438 You´re welcome. Btw, a way to distinguish Danish from Swedish and Norwegian is that Danish more "throathy" and guttural, and they sort of swallow the end of words. The old joke is that Danish sound like a drunk person with porridge (or potatoes) in their mouths or throats, trying to speak Swedish... Swedish and Norwegian is probably more difficult to distinguish from eachouther for a non-Scandinavian. To me (as a Swede) Norwegian sounds a bit like a rural Swedish dialect, spoken by a happy child, Norwegian is really cute. And Norwegian have a tendency "go up" at the end of sentences, a bit like Australians do with English.
Best wishes from Ukraine!!!🤗🤗🤗I love your channel a lot! You are doing a good job by showing the great artists to the world!💖🎶🎶💖Maybe , you would like to make the reaction to "Hardkiss" new video "Жива"( "Alive"), please☺ With best regards🎶🎶🎶💖💖💖

Yes and not!!Romanian has a lot (40%!)of slavic origin words!But yes - it's predominantlyTracian!!(romance!)language!
