The actors that played the priests from Rugged Island were the runners up for the roles of Father's Ted, Jack and Doughal. They did so well that the Rugged island characters were written into the show.

@@Eddycheeee that explains it, the Dublin accent has been creeping out into the sticks since the early nineties, there's bits of Meath with it too 🤭 it's the parents that I pity, having to listen to their children talk like their most hated sporting enemy 😂

@@firetv2169 jaysus have you never heard a Cork/Kerry/Limerick accent? They sound like the Swedish chef from the Muppets, with their hurdy gurdy ways of talking, Cork calls itself the real capital of Ireland but can't even produce an Irish accent.
