    Thanks for shooting the gun a while before reviewing. The cycling reliability is one of the main concerns with a .22 i think. With it being so dirty of a cartridge, thats probably to be expected. Thanks for the review, i think i'll be picking of these up as a training aid as well!

    I have owned this gun for several years, though have not shot it much. I have roughly 1k rounds thew it, every 50 rounds a different brand almost. So far no malfunctions. Extremely comfortable in the hand, and accuracy is on point for a trainer type pistol. Might be worth mentioning, I have heard of reliability issus, personally I clean my guns after every range session.

    I purchased a S&W M&P Compact 22 just over 3 years ago and, I've really enjoyed shooting it, i.e., just under 18,500 rounds. However, during that time it has failed several times. Twice, at between 9,000 and 9,500 rounds, the firing pin failed and needed replacement. Next, at 12,417 rounds, the aluminum slide literally cracked all the way around the slide, 270 degrees (photos available), freezing it to the frame. S&W repaired and returned the gun with a new slide. S&W bore the cost of all repairs, so no complaint there. Since I also have a Glock 19 and 43X, I decided to purchase the Glock 44 a few weeks ago, as a replacement for my S&W. The first 300 rounds have been flawless and my accuracy has been better.

    • @blessing71
      @blessing71 Před rokem +1

      @@phillipsmith8 Gifted my S&W to a son who loves S&W; no issues for him. I now have over 15,000 rounds on my Glock 44, without any failures. About a month ago, I'd gone some 700 rounds with the 44 without cleaning, a shot sounded louder than normal. The ejector came off. Gunsmith at range said powder buildup at ejector caused the problem. He easily reassembled it, recommending a good cleaning. I did and it continues to fire perfectly. Accuracy continues to be good.

      You can definitely get more than ten shots in a rimfire, but those mags are going to have to be really curved because of the rimmed ammo.

    I like this gun in that it is very similar to my M&P 9 Shield though lighter. Due (I think) to its light weight it’s a bit less accurate than its big brother. Frustrating when looking for perfection but cheaper to shoot. It does have issues recycling when shooting cheaper ammunition but even if I shoot higher grade .22 ammo it’s cheaper than 9mm ammo. Over all, a good gun. I’d like to see comments as to which brands of .22 caliber ammo gives readers the fewest misfires or stuck ejects.

    • @frede1064
      @frede1064 Před 24 dny

      Did you ever get any info about what folks shoot? I’ve had most of my misfires and failures to eject with Winchester ammo in my hands. Could be me. Federal and Remington ammo seems to work better in my hands but still see a few problems. Any other experience with other brands of ammo?

    • @professorpewpuew
      @professorpewpuew  Před 4 lety

      I would still go for the M&P from a durability standpoint. Apparently the Glock is supposed to have a part polymer part aluminum slide, whereas the M&P is all aluminum. I question the durability of a partially polymer slide since it bears a lot of the stress of firing. Just my take on it.
