    I have had a S&W M&P 22 since they first came out. It is made for S&W by Walther. No matter how hard I insert the magazine I have never had a stovepipe on loading. It has been fed all brands of 22lr, it has even ate some I have had since the 60's, no problems. The only issue I have ever had was after an extended time at the range with very old waxed bullets the barrel was leaded so badly I couldn't get the cleaning brush through it. Took my time, picked the lead out then after a thorough cleaning it worked fine. I use it, putting 5k+ yearly between practice and matches with very few malfunctions. I knew you were a "Glock" man shortly into the video. Me, my Glock has not been out of the safe since I got my first M&P!

      I stopped cleaning my MP 22 since it never stops working flawlessly. (It is my range gun only but I shoot it regularly and have sent thousands of rounds through it I'm sure.) Quiet and waxy unleaded rounds can fail to eject but that's not the pistol's fault. (And any cheap revolver will fire even those.) MP 22 made by Walther, hmmm, I'll check Walther out. I shoot lots of other caliber's from friend's guns and they are not any more reliable. And I shoot 22 way faster and more accurately and way cheaper and with more fun.

    I qualified for my CCW many years ago with an M&P 22. The one mistake I made was running CCI 22LR Quiets through it. While it fired, it wouldn't cycle through. I had to rack the slide after each shot. Other than the ejecting issue, it ran like a dream.
    A learning experience for sure.

  • @nothing-sb3yf
    @nothing-sb3yf Před 3 lety +5

    The jamming on the MP22 is almost done on purpose. You can rewatch everytime you load the G44 it's mag in and only after a second or so you released the slide. With MP22 you are mashing in the mag and dropping slide simultaneously.
    And after he mentioned it, and just do it normally it didn't jam what a surprise.
    It's the same as riding the slide stop on a gun and the complaining that it's not locking open.

    Good Video boys, however I beg to differ. I own the both pistols, I love .22lr as it is a cheap round to shoot. I live in Canada where it get's cold as ****. I find that they are both easy to take apart and clean. Yes, the M&P has a few more steps but not a big deal. You will not or should not use .22lr as a self defense round so what is an extra second to field strip it. I wish you would have shown this. As I mentioned before I own both, and must say in the COLD here in Canada the GLOCK jams much more as the the slide is harder to rack (stiffer spring). All I am saying is, the are both nice pistols but here in the cold weather M&P is more reliable.

      @twcaldwell1951 Před 3 lety +2

      I gotta say something here, I will agree to the point that the 22 does not have the "knock down" power of larger caliber weapons, but beyond that, the 22 is still a defense weapon, you wannna get shot with one? Might not stop you with one round but it's gonna hurt like crazy and maybe I don't want to kill you, just stop or slow you down. Maybe you rely on the louder noise of a larger caliber to scare your opponent. If I offended you, I apologize now.

      The only thing i agree with is .22 is ok as a self defense round. There's no such thing as "knock down" in any handgun or even very few shoulder fired rifle. The law of physics proves this. You should never rely on your "opponent" being scared of anything. Especially noise. @@twcaldwell1951

    I bought the Glock 44 a couple of months ago and I like it. You just have to shoot good 22lr though it and keep it clean. You will have no problems with it. I have probably put close to 2500rds down range with less than a handful of problems. I'd tell friends to buy one.

    I owned a Walther P-22. Lovely ergonomics but jammed like all the parts had been covered in wax. Also owned a Browning 1911 .22 when they first came out. Lovely ergonomics but it jammed as much as the Walther. Sold both of them and I bought a Browning 1911 in .380. Great pistol, never jams and it's more accurate than I can shoot. Then I bought the SW M&P .22 and it is fantastic! Shoots like a lazer. I am not a Glock fan and I have not tried the Glock 44 but I love .22 pistols and we shall see.
    In this vid I have to discredit Goat-tee man on his use of the SW. No one slams a .22 mag into a pistol with so much force that it causes a round to jump from the mag and have the slide to close on it and I would almost be willing to wager he tapped the slide release while butt spanking the magazine. And don't talk any smack about the SW! Makes me wonder if Glock is paying you for that trick??

We are not paid to promote any specific product or gun, but things like trigger pull, ease of maintenance, and quality of construction are quantifiable. I stated the M&P is much easier to rack that the G44, but we shoot lots and lots of guns, and the G44 was simply much more superior than the M&P 22. We just reviewed the MP 9ez and praised it. The G44 is simply a more superior product.

    The .22lr pistols can be rather mechanically reliable the issue it more due to the round firing when you absolutely needing it. By virtue of how they function several things can go wrong causing them to not fire, light strikes, the ammo being shook rather hard before loading causing the primer fuel to shift, and under powered loads due to the bulk manufacturing process. In terms of being lethal, it will do the job like any other round would.

    I’m a big Glock fan and own several of them. My daily conceal and carry is a Glock. Both law enforcement agencies that I work for use Glocks. Because I use and trust Glocks, and have always had amazing results with them when it comes to reliability and durability, I bought a Glock 44 and pre ordered it when Glock first announced it.
    When it came to the pre hype before the announcement, I was a little let down. I was hoping that the game changing announcement by Glock was going to be either a Gen 5 announcement for all of the calibers in addition to 9x19mm. Or, the release of other calibers with full size frame and grips, mated to compact slide and barrels, similar to the G19X and G45. I was also hoping for a Glock 5.7x28mm, that ironically, Ruger released with no pre hype. I own and love my FN 5.7, and will be buying a Ruger 57, as well but with the G44, I was somewhat disappointed that Glock put all of this massive hype behind it.
    With the hype, and the reputation of Glock, I was sure that the G44, would be just as reliable as other Glocks. To add to my disappointment, the G44 only came with 2 mags, whereas most Glocks come with 3. Then, the mags were only 10 rounds. So more disappointment. Another area of disappointment was the stock plastic sites being the only option available on the G44. Every other Glock that I own, I have bought new and have had them come with the Glock factory night sights or the Ameriglo night sights from the Glock factory. Then the Glock was the highest priced .22lr handgun on the market. So I saw a massive amount of hype and even before its release, a lot of disappointment. But, I still pre ordered and bought one. I received mine a few days after the G44 released but almost right away, major issues and flaws became apparent. In spite of what Glock claimed about reliability and durability of the G44, and that it functioned flawlessly with over 100 different types of ammo, the magazines have consistent issues feeding many types, if not all types of ammo. Then the firearm itself has consistent issues of not only feeding rounds, but firing them as well and ejecting them. Then to add to the unreliability, many times the slide doesn’t lock back and there have been several reported cases of the polymer slide cracking as well as a few cases of the G44, having catastrophic failures where internal components grenaded in people hands. Needless to say, this has really effected my trust with Glock now. The G44, is Glocks equivalent of Sig Sauers P365 issues, where firearms were released to the public with known major issues and the manufacturers allowed loyal, paying customers be the guinea pig test subjects. I now don’t know if I will ever buy a newly released firearm by Glock, ever again. My trust has been effected. And I always buy at a very minimum, at least 2, brand new, blue label Glocks a year. If I was able to buy more in a calendar year, I would but Glock only limits blue label purchases to 2 a year. If they did like other manufacturers, like Smith & Wesson, FN, or Sig Sauer, where there was not a limit, I would certainly buy a lot more but I can’t do that with Glock, unfortunately.
    Hopefully, Glock will get their acts together because it’s a shame that almost every $250.00 .22lr handgun is a lot for reliable that the G44.

      For the record, I am not a Glock fanboy. Have you shot your G44 yet? I am starting to think that I bought the only functional G44 on the planet, based on all the negative CZcams videos. I have cycled 2400rds through mine, with a dozen different types of ammo. Out of all those, I literally had 2 failures which were the result of weak 21gr ammo. I ran 1250rds in one 3hr range session... I wouldn't reccomend trying that, because I think that is how people are blowing them up from carbon buildup on the breach, which could cause the gun to fire out of battery. I knew what I was getting in the box before I bought it. Sure, 15rd mags, a threaded barrel, and a cost less than $359.00 would have been great. I looked at the M&P22, and the SR22... I bought the more expensive, less features Glock. I can't whine about it, mine is super reliable, and fun to shot. It's pretty accurate too. I'm glad I didn't let all the negativity discourage me from finding out how good this gun is... No regrets here. It's a Glock that shots .22, and it is as tunable as any Glock. It's biggest fault is the nature of rim fire ammo. 32, 36, 40gr, HP, RN, bulk, and premium... I opted not to mess with subsonic ammo, because about the only supersonic ammo going through this short barrel will be a CCI Stinger. I hope your works as good as mine. I can't fault Glock for me buying what I was willing to pay for either. Again, I am not a fanboy. I have a couple Glocks, but I also have a couple of Rugers, and a couple Smith's. I like them all. Good luck, and hopefully enjoy.

It was rented so either they didn't clean it enough, shot many times, or it could have been ammo that I purchased at the range. It really left a bad taste in my mouth. Now I am not a glock fan. The looks of a glock turn me off, but I just wanted to get something to start on and that's what was available. I've hated polymer guns up until now. The M&P compact 22 fits the bill and it is a small caliber round that I feel comfortable having in a polymer frame.

    I bought a S&W M&P .22 Compact (Made in USA) four years ago. Over 5000 rnds of all brands, cheap to expensive. No issues. No stove pipe on mag loading, but i don't slam them in . No need when the slide is open. In fact, no need on any .22 semi. The mag springs are not that tough.
    The Glock is a great gun. They all are, as mentioned in th evid. What caused me to buy yrh M&P was thatit kept performing long after it got filthy beyone d all recognition,. The others failed at various points along the way.
    Plinking is no test of random reliability - justy of accuracy. Reliability must be a qualification of hard use. My testing included the Walther, Ruger, Glock, and H&K. Every gun got 500 rounds put thru it at very fast intervals, my son loading mags as quickly as he could. The guns all got very hot and dirty. All failed at certain points and all misfires were taken apart to inspect the primer ring for missing or partial primer. All misfires showed no primer mat'l or partial primer mat'l. Low power loads I ssumed to be reduced powder charges. In those loads, the M&P still cycled the next round.
    I bought the M&P I was testing and it has never failed yet.
    NOTER: The M7P .22 COmpact is a true M&P mechanism, hammer fired. That's why the trigger has a longer tke yup. Just something to keep you from shooting something before you are good and ready.

      The G44 has been a very reliable training gun for us. My only complaint is the magazines are not good at all. They don't have metal lips on the magazine feed area, and so they get very destroyed very quickly. Looks are subjective. Thanks for watching!

      I admit Alex is, but we are trying our best to be objective.
