Sotomayor’s comment on presidential immunity with regard to an impeachment was quite strong. She implies that If the president has immunity and thus exempt to crimes, then the president could not be impeached because he would be exempt from all “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

@@janejones8672 Impeachment and criminal prosecution is 2 different things. A president can be impeached by the house, convicted by the senate, but that conviction isn't a criminal prosecution. It's just an action of official removal from office.

There IS NO official act that requires breaking the law. He has NO criminal immunity, period.
Official acts in terms of immunity is : any act (performed by the official) that involves (fully or partially) one's official power or authority. The exPOTUS Trump used his Secret Service to protect him while on the Ellipse giving his speech.
The first thing a President of the USA do is take the oath of office before he can be officially the President. If the decision or order given by Trump doesn't respect that oath then there is no immunity

There are lines that cannot be crossed. The statutes define those limits, that is criminal law, that should apply to ALL citizens, even the President.

I can't tell who is speaking sometimes, and that matters when evaluating their questions and comments in context. It's an outrage that we don't have access to CCTV footage of our SCOTUS.

This is exactly what I've wondered as well. Lawyers advise the president as to the legality of what they do or don't do. There is an obvious reason for this of course. Its called accountability. The SCOTUS is corrupt. They will betray America.

That's the point: that he DOESN'T have any immunity. He is just one of the higher level employees that we, the People, hire, with our votes, to help us run our country.

What's going on with our justice system? A fifth grader knows that no person in America should have absolute immunity for crimes he or she commits while serving as the President of the United States. So, why is this question being debated at the highest level of the America's justice system? Delay, delay, delay does this sound familiar? Justice delayed is justice denied.

The Supreme Court decision should be 9-0 in favor of no immunity if the Justices adhere to the constitution. If Nixon was immune, he wouldn't have needed to be pardoned. Clause 7 states, "Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law." Any judge who dissents, needs to be impeached and removed for failing to uphold their oath of office.
