I've had mine for 3 years now, and I've done this upgrade 2 years ago along with several other upgrades to the suspension and steering. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. TRAXXAS ROCKS!!!! I've even put a 50s style truck body I a brushed with camielion purple to green to blue paint. She is SWEET!!!!!!!!!!
im getting ready to paint a pro line brute bash but what paint should i use? I wanted to do a Candy Red from House of Kolor, can the body handle the thinners in the paint? Did you use water based paint? Any help is appreciated, thanks!
*A few simple and expensive upgrades*
Its just money, you make it every day 😏
Also if it was just cheaper to convert an xl5 to vxl no one would buy the stampede vxl
@@Lorenz_c thats what I did. Made my 2wd stampede into a vxl model but still 2wd. Costs me more to upgrade everything than just buying an already lightning fast 4x4 stampede vxl model.
jcallesano why what broke? I did the same thing changed my 2wd brushed system and put in a brushless system and nothing has broken so far and I’ve had it for 5 months
@@TortugaBruv rear plastic drive shafts....those won't last at all. I shredded both sides once off training mode.
If you're going to upgrade a brushed vehicle, I'd also recommend changing out the hub bushings for bearings.
What’s that
@@legitkronos7661 The bushings are the little donut shaped bronze pieces that the front and rear stub axles ride on. And from the factory, the brushed editions of the 2WD Rustler, Stampede, and Bandit come with bushings in all 4 wheel hubs. Bushings are okay for lower power applications (like in a basic 2WD brushed vehicle) however when you want to start adding more power (like with a brushless conversion) the bushings will wear out considerably quicker. Thus I recommend an upgrade to ball bearings. If you disassemble the hubs on any of those three vehicles, you can actually remove the bushings and replace them with ball bearings of the same specs, which Traxxas does sell for each vehicle. The bearings can handle the extra power of a brushless motor better than the bushings and will roll smoother.
markoftheus got it thanks man . I recently just put in a nice brushless system in the stampede . It’s a beast with the new steel gears in it . Running a 3s just needs a wheelie bar lol
@@legitkronos7661 Sure thing man! And just for reference, the bearings for a 2WD Rustler and Stampede (I believe from 2006 onward) are 5x11x4 mm. Older models used either 5x10's or 5x8's.
Just this upgrade makes your rc so much faster!
I remember back in 2006-2007 I bought one and upgraded to a MM5700 on 12 cells. All steel tranny and bearings for the wheels. It easily did 55 on 23/90 gearing. Its still in the garage, wrecked, needs about 30 dollar worth of parts to fix.
The video shows a shortened antenna tube. I thought that was an official no-no for Traxxas. Glad to see they do it themselves.
The new 2.4G reciever has a much shorter antenna. And the transmitter doesn't have a antenna at all
Stampede 4x4 vxl brushless was my first rc trk now I have two also I have two xmaxx's and the erevo 2.0 I only buy Traxxas can't wait for new trks to come out keep up the great work
You only buy traxxas? Why? I bought 2 traxxas when i started in the hobby. Then bought arrma and losi and could not believe how much better the quality is.
Traxxas is love !
👍
I love my Stampede, I have the Traxxas tool kit it works nice!
👍👍
I used to have a jlb racing cheetah it was fun and all the tires would turn into paper thin plates when full throttle, today I picked up the stampede from a hobby shop/used but hey I’m liking this thing I had a problem with the cheetah as if I even touched a curb or anything I broke parts left and right but this stampede does it’s doos lol
I love traxxas❤
With the sidewinder sct this truck run great on 2s lipo
Traxxas for life its the best
Thank you! 👍

The Traxxas Stampede = wheelie bliss. I love my up-powered Stampede!
🤘
Wait so the battery, it will work for both models
I have an old brushed one, I put my brushless and vxl3 in in but I think the old receiver won’t work with the brushless system. It’s an old receiver with the color chip, is that the problem?
MHZ Receiver?
I had one years back. 1998-99. Sad that I sold it.
Will this motor/ESC upgrade work on an old Stampede model? It’s at least 12 years old.
You should be fine. I have a friend that did it with his old Rustler (which has the same gearbox as the Stampede) and it worked perfectly.
Do I need a Lipo because I have the original stamped and have the 3000 stock battery
You can use the stock NiMH battery with the vileneon system. However, if you run your vehicle hard, I would recommend getting LiPo batteries b/c the NiMH packs have a tendency of getting hot when you run them hard.
3:04 anyone have e
The website for replacing that black gear? Wore mine down so much it doesn’t connect with the moters gear lmao
How do you change the gearing on the 4x4 variant?
To change the gearing on the 4x4 version, you have to remove the four screws that hold the rear end of the truck onto the chassis and then you can pull the slipper assembly out to change the spur gear.
If you want to change the pinion gear, remove the screw holding the gear cover on and then remove the screw that holds in the motor plate. Then you can rotate and lift the motor out to get access to the pinion gear.
Will 25/86 gearing work on a castle 3800kv motor?
Xavier Ramirezz yes
Can I buy a upgraded one
My UDR's front wheel wobbles a little. Do you know why
It is normal
Can Stampede 4x4 kit handle a brushless power upgrade? I hope so I have one on order
did it work?
The Stampede 4x4 kit can handle brushless power although not as effectively as a Stampede 4x4 VXL. The reason why is because the kit is modeled after a brushed edition Stampede 4x4 which uses a plastic center driveshaft (vs the VXL's aluminum center driveshaft) as well as different ring and pinion gears for the differentials; The ring and pinion gears on the differentials of the VXL model have larger teeth which are stronger.
That said, you should be okay as long as you're not doing anything too crazy like putting in an 8th scale motor on 4s LiPo. 🙃
I don’t know what parts to use
Review Power sistem in slash 2wd pls

Do someone know how much volts and cells a original esc in a stampede can take?
The XL-5 speed controller is rated for up to 2 cell LiPo (7.4 volts nominal, 8.4 volts fully charged).
The VXL 3S speed controller is rated for up to 3 cell LiPo (11.1 volts nominal, 12.6 volts fully charged).
@@markoftheus thanks!!
I hit 62 mph on a brushless mortor and 3s lipo with my rustler it was a xl5 but now I just bought a castle creations
I like to do flips with mine
Can you put the velineon power system on the traxxas bigfoot?
Big Austen Outdoors yup. You can put it in any traxxas 2wd
Or any 1/10 scale traxxas
Thanks
@@brysonkuhn3290 Any of their smaller 1/10th scale vehicles, lol.
If you were to put it in an E-Maxx, E-Revo, or Summit (which Traxxas also call 1/10th scale) the system would overheat.
@@markoftheus even though they are labeled "1/10" they are practically 1/8 scale lol
Got a stampede but holy hell some of these parts are expensive
( I KNOW!!! ) i am planning on getting the battery and the charger and the motor and ESC, FOR
$379.99
Does this work with the Bigfoot no 1 too?
Yes.
Someone please help. Wanting to get into RC. Can't decide. Stampede, Slash, or Rustler? Why?
Where do you plan to drive? Oh and Lipos are very dangerous
@@customgarage6673 there is a local rc track near me. Typical dirt track. Some low cut grass in the park. Things like that. And yes. I know Lipos can be dangerous. Luckily I am an adult 😁. But what are some of the benefits of getting a lipo over a NIMH?
Those are all great RC's.. 🏎️ The Slash is great for short course tracks and stampede is great for hitting jumps and popping wheelies.. I'd say go with what you feel best for you.. Trust me once you get into it more you're gonna be wanting all of them!! Have fun 😎👍
@@customgarage6673 LiPo batteries are fine as long as you know how to take care of them.
How fast will it go without the new gears
I have a stampede and it goes about 25-27 with stock gearing. Plenty fast for a medium space
I can’t take out the cover of the motor, it’s so hard to unscrew
BJ Playz did you take if the tire? Off*
Does it work in a 4x4 stampede
Yes.
I recommend a side winder 4 over a Vxl 3s it’s much better performance and value for the money
Jay Workman yup but they’re people who only buy traxxas products which is stupid imo
I upgraded my 2wd stampede to the brushless system and my friends 4x4 vxl is ridiculously faster but they have the same exact motor...? Why is that? Both 3s 5000 paks for bats
His i 4whele drive and vxl. It's way faster no matter what. 2wd are slow.
@@Tyler-ev7xq that's not true at all. Far from the truth actually.
Odds are your friend's truck is geared higher.
@@markoftheus I found out back when this was an issue that the truck set itself to 50% training mode. No wonder! Lol my 2wd can't hit full speed, wheelies at 50. I don't know really how fast top speed is.
It’s for 4WD or rwd?
rwd
Traxxas shows this system being used with a RWD but you can also put it in a 4WD
Don't you need a wheelie bar now? because I did this to my stampede and it flips real easy.
Vxl
What does that mean?
It's has the brushless motor and esc
almost $200
Approximately how many mph faster?
Depends on what battery you use
What about a 4wd?
Same
im trying to make a crawling stampede i wish i had support
You'd have to change a lot to make it a crawler. The TRX-4 sport assembly kit is a great buy if you want something purpose built for crawling.
@@InvisiMan2006 yeah i already did i just need to adjust things also its a independent suspension rc car
hobbywing combo, any 3s but traxxas= cheaper and better
I got a stampede 👍
I agree with you. Iv seen those motors in action, and they are great. And I also recommend the hobbywing ese and motor. And *MAN* the motor has some torque, buddy.
@@theirishaxe9405 What for kind of Esc are you using?
I need it to go SLOWER!!!!!! Stampede VXL 4x4 is too much of a beast it's motor burns to the touch.
I have a stampede
Can not afford rc can I have a erevo 2.0 please I only have to grade cannot afford hobby grade.
Maybe look into your local hobby shop and try to get traxxas bandit 35mph or try to get used Rc cars they are usually cheaper than brand new but good luck trying to get hobby grade rc
It is the same as slash
Pretty much. Just be aware that faster and more powerful often means more broken parts.
This is ironic. I just started speed running my stampede and just hit 21mph on stock
I know right!
I changed gears and went 28 mph
Mine hit 30 mph on stock
@@berisade1 lipo?
@@-crossheart no, on nimh 3000 mah

You should give out a vilenion set to a subscriber (I am)
My drive axle broke the first day.. This truck sucks. I wish someone would make a rc vehicle that you don't have to upgrade to make it past one day
i bet you crashed
Check and retune your slipper. It may have been too tight.
Toy grade sorry
Still way better than the RCs you find at big box stores.
