My father bought a copy of Little Man for me on DVD while I was eight years old and sick with the flu and at the time I loved it. I feel such retroactive SHAME now
+Lizzy Bee I can't tell whether or not you're being 'meta' so I'll take your comment at face value: I was using sarcasm to express my irritation at the fact that so many people complain about reviews like this not giving star ratings when the content of the review tells one what the reviewer thought of the film. Many journalists regard star ratings as reductive, arbitrary, restrictive and redundant if one reads or, in this case, watches the review and I tend to agree.
"Evil-minded, bad, profoundly depressing, retrograde, horrible, nauseating, inward-looking, smug, repulsive, grotesque, ill-advised, badly-judged, wretched, rancid..." Some of the finest adjective usage in the history of ever.
I have a regular movie screening night with friends and every now and then we all bring the worst movie we can think of for a night of bad films. The entire point is to laugh at how shit they are, point out the mistakes, poor camera work, shit acting and all that stuff while drinking a lot of alcohol in order to make it entertaining. With that context given, someone bought this and we didn't finish it.
I may post Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait soon. Beyond that, I'll mostly just do requests or the odd new release that outsiders can't access thanks to the BBC's bullshit rules.
How about Little Wicker Man? A little person from Harlem disguises himself as a Scottish baby in order to investigate the disappearance of a script writer in the outer Hebrides, and ends up discovering real family values and the true meaning of sacrifice.
The Ludovitec technique? Vitejc? Vitech? I didn't know it had a name...just thought it was known as "holding subjects eyes open with patented harness device".
@TulseLuper I normally don't respond to a comment that's already 2 months old, but I just have to because I barely see anyone mentioning Arrested Development. AD is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The problem is that stupid comedies generally make more money than smart comedies. Especially if it's a smart tv-serie you have to follow to completely get it (like AD).. people don't seem to have the patience for it, which is a damn shame.
Hasn't American comedy become an oxymoron? Their comedy these days is simply not intrinsically funny, on any level. What it *has* become though, as Little Man, demonstrated, is sick, mean, vindictive, offensive, biggotted shite. I say this with a heavy heart since I was always a fan of Fraiser, Cheers, and Seinfeld.
"If you're a woman, please quit your job immediately and go back to having children because that's what you're meant to do." Yes. This, but unironically. Yes.
"If you go see "Little Man", shame on you"
This made me laugh my ass off.
My father bought a copy of Little Man for me on DVD while I was eight years old and sick with the flu and at the time I loved it. I feel such retroactive SHAME now
'That's one night in your house' lol Simon
Reviewing Little Man and The Wicker Man Remake on the same show. I feel for him.
See, this is the type of review where I really wish Kermode did star ratings. I just can't tell whether he liked it or not.
+youeatshowieategg I think he did not like it. He referred to it as offensive and not funny.....

he does do star ratings, just not on the Live show.
Doesn’t he do reviews for the guardian?
this is hilarious! Love the ending of this review, knowing how much Kermode despises the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.
"Evil-minded, bad, profoundly depressing, retrograde, horrible, nauseating, inward-looking, smug, repulsive, grotesque, ill-advised, badly-judged, wretched, rancid..." Some of the finest adjective usage in the history of ever.
Seems like he didn't like it
it’s rather incredible that Pirates of the Caribbean, Little Man and The Wickerman were all reviewed one after another haha

Mark Kermode sure does reference Stanley Kubrick films a lot.
I cracked up when he said it was possessed by the devil
“That’s one night in your house” lmao
Best Rant Ever!
"Dead man's chest is the fourth highest grossing ... "
"Is It?"
Sooooo, he didn't like it then?
This review cheers me up no end. The only way it could have been better is a Danny Dyer (admit it you're doing the wooo) cameo.
Little Man and Wicker Man. Oh man!
I sat through this thinking it was the review for Little Men. I was thinking dam he's tough this film.
Ultimately, thank Christ for Jordan Peele.
Does anyone know where I can find the "Sex Lives of the Potato Men" review?
I've been looking for it for ages!
@@jacobbirdy128 legends speak of it, but no man has seen it
*CONTEXT HAS BEEN SUPPLIED*
I wasn't aware of this movie's existence. Good lord.
Wow, never heard him so upset. I saw the reaction Siskel and Ebert had to I Spit on your Grave in 1978 which was equal disgust.
Thanks so much for uploading these. I miss having them on the BBC website. Are there any more in store?
I had no idea this movie even existed until now. Ignorance was bliss.
Evil lives in the celluloid!
shame on you
Confused, so, worth a look then...
"shame on you"
4 dislikes ......shame on you !

Sex lives of the Potato Men?
the big lebowski.
How about Little Wicker Man?

Any chance you've got Eastern Promises?

Stephen King thinks Little Man is a greater cinematic achievement than The Shining, or just about anything directed by Stanley Kubrick.
Er...shame on me...
Does it have more potential to deprave and corrupt than the video nasties were supposed to?
How about this, I am given a random film to watch not knowing what it is, and it's Little man. Shame on me?
Seriously, depressingly shite...What happened to the Wayans? Don't Be A Menace was amazing.
Im an Aussie...i lookedat the poster and trailer and thought it looked wretched SHIT
@TulseLuper really wish you would of used "coming of age" instead of Little Britian as your example. Thats not to say little britain isn't shit
Lol
he loves it. It is just that he's married to it.
😂
I haven't seen this and likely never will, but if the midget had been played by an actual midget would it have been nearly as bad?
Hate when Kermode sits on the fence like this.
Come on it wasn't that bad
The Haunting of Sharon Tate is equally badly made and grotesque.
I actually like little man. It was so stupid it was funny.
I just amazed that somebody in this case the Wayans came up with this idea for a film.
Same
I do find Kermode a bit pompous, but little man is a disgustingly bad film and I have to agree with everything he says about the film.

Forget this guy, like kermode he probably gets offended at anything(sulijoo not you)
"If you're a woman, please quit your job immediately and go back to having children because that's what you're meant to do."
Yes. This, but unironically. Yes.
film was alright. kermonde is so PC.
You're evil and posessed by the devil!
No. Believe it or not, there are times when something is genuinely bad and having issue with it does not make you "PC".
relinquis No, he just has a moral compass.
You have no brain
