    He thought Lucas was milking the franchise dry then, couldn't predict then what Disney had in mind later.

    Just remembered who James Arnold Taylor is- he voices Ratchet in the Ratchet and Clank games. And to be fair, he does a better voice than Christensen, but not as good as his work in the game- partly because Insomniac do dialogue a lot better than Lucas.

    Despite his distaste for the Star Wars franchise, Kermode can do a objective review since he's not that invested in it. The Clone Wars film is essentially a film that serves as the cinematic pilot for the Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network. The film is decent, but the show is much better, Dave Filoni manages to give personality, emotion and intrigue to the series that the prequels were lacking. A review said the characters on the show seem more alive than the actors in the prequels.

  • @92chillwill
    @92chillwill Před 11 lety +5

    Agreed. Plinkett suggested to make the clones like ugly monsters, and then have them battle the flesh-and-blood stormtroopers, which honestly sounds a lot better and more high-stakes.

  • @RoninDave
    @RoninDave Před 12 lety +1

    the problem with the clone wars is that you have a war that has no consequence whatsoever so there goes my interest. Nothing the Republic or the Separtists do makes any difference because they are all being controlled by Palpatine. Battles, strategies, tactics are pointless because everything is a sham so Palpatine can seize more power than he already has

  • @KSRugby
    @KSRugby Před 11 lety

    it would have been alot better and made more sense to the originals that way. (With regards to the fact stormtroopers seemed like trained dudes in uniforms, and even small talked with each other)
    It also would have been a more engaging springboard and story of how Palpatine came to power n turned the Republic into an Empire, manipulating everyone to believing he was doing good for the galaxy and that the formation of an Empire was the only way to end the war.

    I haven't seen the animated film and opted out of doing so after the negative critical reception but given that the TV series was well received, I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised as it was rather good and did more justice to the franchise. I can only assume that Lucas relinquished creative control over it and left it in other hands because it certainly beat the hell out of the dire prequels. Listening to that clip though, I can begin to see why the film as slated. Obi Wan's dialogue for the most part is like he's reading something off the back of a cereal box.

    The Third Reich was a success intitially, but you're correct, in the long run it wasn't. I actually don't agree with everything mark said. For one thing, this film was just as bad as any of the prequels. Also, he didn't even cover most of the problems with this film, which, along with those of the tv series and the prequel trilogy in general are so numerous I can't even get started. Just watch redlettermedia's prequel reviews, and also, I'll be starting video reviews of the show myself soon.

    Look its 4 Kids, but its also Lucas trying to milk money, even the fact most the current actors wudnt even lend their voices to it proves its a piss poor waste of time. And Clone Wars shud hav been a proper Live action, filling in much needed elements of the plot of Anakin and his relationship growing between Palpatine in his steady journey to the dark side.

    "the vague suggestion of sexualised dancing". The thing that really bugs me about this movie is that it makes no sense, even less when you think about it. Ok so Count Doku kidnaps Jabba's son (don't you remember in Episode VI when his Jabba jr was in it.....) and the Jedi are sent to rescue him and if they don't return him then Jabba won't allow them save passage through his territory oh and Doku is planning to kill Jabba jr to start a war between them. Ok now this a non-issue to the Jedi for numerous reasons 1) this is outer space you can go in any direction so cannot block space so they go AROUND Jabba's neck of the woods no problem. 2) Jabba is not important, he lives on this ugly dirt ball of a planet in a cave with smelly pig men. The reason Tatotiween is not part of the Republic or Separatists is because NO ONE wants it. 3) How is Jabba a threat to the Jedi? They have millions of clone troopers and a single Jedi can wipe out a platoon of battle droids easy peasy lemon squeezey so again how a fat slug that can barely move and bunch of warthog-men stand against the Jedi? Bobba Fett is just a kid at this point, so Jabba can't rely on him.

    Cut and paste? I'd say go watch it, but you'll be waiting a long time (still ripping the episodes to my computer) and you clearly can't take a negative opinion of something you like, so I'd say avoid. Have a nice life good sir :)
