I'm just surprised there wasn't a single "pitching a tent" joke
Of course not. You can tell they were more interested in lecturing than telling jokes in this one. It took 10 seconds to hear that, "Oh, they're trying too hard to be careful."
that's low hanging fruit in my opinion lol. Too obvious. Only high class humor is allowed up in here
Is pitching a tent to be specific, raising is used in another one
@@alexisbalmaceda3309pfft, what show have you been watching, yet use a fair bit bof the low brow stuff
@@kurtsudheim825 you're right. Fixed it
"criticized today for starring two straight guys" man so trueeeeeeee 😁😁😁
That is infact weird. I assume, no one would criticise a movie for not having an actual convicted murderer playing the role of a murderer character like Hannibal Lecter, right? 😂
@@corneliusvonhardenberg291 What happens in Port Talbot stays in Port Talbot.
@@corneliusvonhardenberg291 yeah how can I be convinced the characters eats people if the actor ain't a cannibal? COME ON PEOPLE!!!
@@corneliusvonhardenberg291It's so much worse: Anthony Hopkins is a VEGETARIAN! How come nobody complains about that?!
Didn't "Kill Your Darlings" star Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan? Two straight dudes?
That Hank Hill impression was was perfect and priceless!
That one killed me. Then I don't wanna be right. Hahahahah 😂🤣😂🤣
It was spot on. I thought it was an audio clip from King of the Hill until I realized he didn't say "Luann".
Comparing Heath Ledger in this film to his Joker in The Dark Knight shows by itself how great a talent we lost far too soon.
Ugh, seriously. His career could have honestly rivaled great actors with serious bodies of work like Daniel Day Lewis or Robert DeNiro if given the chance.
I would have loved to see a film with Heath Ledger and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, another actor gone far too soon.
@@ClimateChangeKidsPhillip Seymour Hoffman was so great!
Rip Heath Ledger ❤
@@ClimateChangeKids I remember when everyone wanted Phillip Seymour Hoffman to play the Penguin in a Batman movie.
the Jesus shepherd joke was one of the funniest things I ever heard on this channel. the king of the hill joke was hilarious too
When Mysterio and Joker fell in love.
If Marvel and DC ever did a crossover, that would be a good villain team-up…I’m not going to hold my breath for that though 😂
Ang: "Top THAT, fanfic writers!"
When universes collide
Our fantasy amv are wild
😂 didn't think of that crossover
They're supposed to be in their 40s near the end of the film, and Jake Gyllenhaal started walking with a limp. Ang Lee was like, "WTF are you doing?" And he said, "I'm supposed to be older" and Ang was like, "You're not supposed to be 80!"
Which is super funny because now Jake is in his 40s and got in the best shape of his life for "Road House."
(Also, kudos for leaving out any jokes about scarfs. I love you-know-who and that song, but Jake Gyllenhaal is an amazing actor. He was nominated for an Oscar for this part. I hate that you can't say his name these days without someone mentioning a scarf. It was a decade ago...Move on! LOL)
Love that song and both of them (you know) equally 💯
I know that song all too well
... Ascot? (Thinking Scooby Doo 😅)
I have no clue what a scarf means haha😅
@@FD-mg5eo Found anything? I'm confused
@@FD-mg5eo I don't think it's a metaphor, but one of the lyrics says that he kept her scarf and her fans like to comment "Give the scarf back!" or just 🧣on every single Jake Gyllenhaal post on the internet. I'm not even exaggerating. I just looked him up on IG and tapped on the first post I found about his new movie. One of the top comments is, "Give the scarf back!" I've even heard people ask his sister. about the scarf in interviews. 🤦♀
The song was written 13 years ago. She did release a longer version recently, so it's been resurrected, but the fan behavior is embarrassing. She has openly said, "Please leave my exes alone." I appreciate her fans' dedication, but I wish they'd direct their efforts elsewhere. LOL
(Oh, now that I think of it, there was a theory that the scarf was a metaphor for her virginity, but IDK where that came from. I'm pretty sure she was really just talking about a scarf. 🤣)
The fact that you brought up the beans is just too true! Like, nothing would've ever happened in the real world.
they're cowboys- they're sweaty and don't notice their own smell anymore. Also, they're fucking gorgeous. I'd sword fight with them in the fart tent any day.
That was the only part of the trailer that was honest.
The story was written by a woman with little to no knowledge of life outside the city.

"I wish I knew how to quit you." This movie instantly brings ALL of the tears, even more so after the untimely passing of Heath Ledger.
not gonna lie kinda sus
for real, almost teared up remembering how hard this movie hit me when I saw it in the theatre.
This was definitely one of his best.
Yeah his passing makes the ending that much more poignant, him there all alone thinking Jack's dead when we know he's really the one thats gone...RIP
This comment is gayer than the movie
And don't forget that Jake Gyllenhaal was almost Nolan's Batman... TDK would have been the most meme movie in history, not only for Ledger, but for his sister Maggie (Rachel).😮😮 Brokeback Batcave
I spent a week at Annie Proulx (writer of the original short story)'s house in Wyoming when I was ten. Always remember the shotgun she kept in the foyer, which she gruffly told me was "for shooting trespassers and mountain lions." Pretty much exactly like you'd expect the writer of the story to be.
Are you a relative of hers?
@psychosocal3368 no, my father is a rare book dealer and was helping her place her archive. I was very fortunate to get to come along on the trip.
I thought it was about The Mountain who broke his back from fighting Sandor Clegane.
well you got the back breaking part right at least
Well they did break their backs in a mountain so i'd say you were pretty close
LOL😁🤣! I just have this mental image of the two Clean brothers in the arena with Sandor picking up his much bigger brother, the Mountain, and snapping him like a twig over his knee.
featuring Bully Maguire
I did not realize David Harbour was in this. It makes the Brokeback Mountain homage in Q-Force just a hair funnier. Damn though this movie. It devastates me and I'm incredibly proud of everyone who took it seriously; Heath Ledger apparently was so adamant about being respectful to it that he refused to allow anyway to joke about it in promotions. Great, now I'm thinking about Heath Ledger's death again.
Cue: The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus
Yeah, he refused to perform at the Oscars when they wanted him and Jake to do a skit about it.
And i especially loved how Heath found it odd that ppl found it so brave that he kissed a guy for this film. And how his biggest concern being in this film was not being mature and good enough.
This was very refreshing at the time because many actors turned down this role cuz this was considered a huge career risk by many.
@@Noxofspades-lh7bjHeath was far more mature than he gave himself credit for. GIFTED BEYOND his years! Brokeback Mountain didn't win enough awards yet I'm glad Jake rightfully earned a BAFTA award for his performance.
“Jack…I swear” is one of those lines that just breaks my heart every time
oh my god yes. So much said with so little. Heath Ledger's performance in this movie is nothing short of absolutely heartbreaking.
I love the movie, but I didn't get the ending. He swear what? That he really loved him? That he would do different if given another chance? That he will go back to the mountain? What?
Yeah. That’s the line I remember the most.
I'm guessing it was all what you said. Especially about really loving him.
Ohh I remember now. Jake said we were so happy on broke back mountain. We should be there every year. Heath ledger said nothing or said no. He chose his family. But when his wife divorced he went back to find jake. But he was already dead. So he said jack I swear (I’ll visit the mountain every year)
THis movie is one of the best literary adaptations out there. May Heath rest in peace. He was such a good actor!
"How 'bout some more beans Mr. Taggart?"
"I say you had enough!"

I don't know man, they distribute films for Miramax, hollywood, touchstone and showtime for over 35 years.... I'm pretty sure one of those was.... questionable subject matter. Meh, they released Dead Poet Socity, now that's a classic.
It's been years and just Imagining the shirt scene makes me bawl like a baby.
That was some powerful stuff.
I would think about that scene when I had to cry on cue in acting class/auditions, and it worked EVERY TIME.
I ever understood the shirt scene.
I haven't watched the film since the cinema, and just you mentioning the shirt scene set me off.
@@elvenkind6072 it's instinctual to love the scent of loved ones, especially parents and romantic partners. Your scent is transferred to many things you interact with, especially very absorbent materials, like shirts. Jack's scent was still on his clothes since not much time had passed between his death and Ennis picking up something of his to remember him by. He was in love with Jack, so his scent was important to him. Plus, I think the shirt he picked was one that Jack wore the most.
"It lost the Oscar to the worst racial allegory since Soul Man"
I've never seen Crash, but that's one of the funniest things in any Honest Trailer
That dig was SAVAGE ASF! 😂
Crash winning opened my eyes about how ridiculous and often crapola the Oscars are. Never took them seriously after that.
Crash is actually really good, way better than Jokeback Mountain. People hate it because it actually has the audacity to be nuanced.
"I've never seen Crash"
Neither has anybody else since the year it came out.
@@jliller I remember I bought it on DVD at Target. I still have it. I only ever remember watching it one time, though, for some reason.

Right I died!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
The guy playing guitar who won the best original score oscar for this also plays the guitar themes for The Last of Us Parts 1 and 2.
Loved this one! Thank you for treating this with more compassion than the others.
And I'll always find ppl mentioning the beans thing hilarious considering it was a running joke in the film that Jack disliked eating them so much. He was ready to eat the sheep, he was that desperate 🤣
We all know Madame Web is going to get a brutal trailer
I'll take it to my grave that Brokeback Mountain deserved best picture over Crash, which barely anyone seems to remember.
Not really a controversial take. Crash was absolutely terrible
that's like the least controversial opinion about the Oscars ever
Hot take: I love Crash. One of my favorite movies ever.
The only reason anyone remembers Crash at all is because it beat BBM.
Both good movies, but BBM should have won.
Fun (not) fact: the first time I watched this movie I was not aware it was a drama. I sobbed for half an hour after it was over. And I mean full on sobbing.
It is a really touching story, and the music is perfect.
Same. Cried my eyes out, was not expecting things to go the way they did.
Why? That's fucking weird.
What did you think it was?
Wasn't the movie poster obvious?
Rip Heath Ledger. A brilliant actor
Yeah, I'll always miss him. And not just a fantastic actor, but his personality is so 😢
I'll never stop appreciating him for shutting down the jokes, not caring that it was the societal norm at the time. Or that "it was harmless fun."
Bruh why yall americans always write rip?
Now I wanna see an Honest Trailer for Crash!
Don't know the film either, but yes true.
But that's like hitting a barn with an arrow from two feet away.
Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, 2 gems!

It's sad that it isn't the bare minimum to take this film seriously considering not only the topic but how this film ended.
But i still appreciate it.
I can't believe they did this movie. I figured their fear of the LGBTQ community coming after them with their pitchforks would never allow this

That bit with the shirt at the end still gets me.
Wait so Joker, Mysterio, Catwoman & Anne were all in this movie?! 🤯
This is one of my favourite movies but i think it’ll be a long time before I can bear to watch it again

Please please please
That would be amazing!!
Are they related in some way?
I wonder if there are any stats that show that older movies like this get a "bump" in viewership from getting an Honest Trailer. It would be great to see an often-misunderstood film like this find a new audience.
There aren't really unified viewership stats for any movie, at least not available to the public
How does one even go about compiling such stats with so many people watching movies on illegal websites these days?@@thekiss2083
Brokeback Mountain was respected and loved by many, it's considered to be one of the most ''iconic'' or influential films, how was it ''misunderstood''?
The only part of this film that is misunderstood is the idea that it's romantic, tragic, or good.
You can try looking at Google search trends. I believe the website is called Google Trends
Say: “Can we get some more beans Mr. Taggert?”
“I’d say you’ve had enough!”
I saw this in the cinema and during 'that' tent scene, half the cinema up and left 🤣🤣
Damn yes its not that long ago
I don't need to know the scene and knew what was coming because of scary movie 4

@@aldranzam3456 it was kinda pathetic lol
There were places where the community demanded the movie be removed.
One theater owner decided to call this out by replacing “Brokeback Mountain” with “Deliverance,” and then called out the community for complaining about “Brokeback Mountain,” but saying absolutely nothing about “Deliverance.”
If you’re familiar with “Deliverance,” you’ll understand what he’s talking about. If not…look up at your own peril. Let’s just say the biggest and most importaint difference between “that” tent scene and the most infamous scene in “Deliverance,” is that in “Brokeback Mountain,” it was consensual.
Dang it Loraine.....If 2 men going to 3rd base on a fishing trip is wrong....then I don't wanna be right 💀
Swear to god, I never knew Brokeback Mountain had _sheep_ in it.
I'm sorry, I'm too infantile for this movie. I wouldn't be able to stop
the one liner "Wyoming. Where men are men and sheep are nervous."
from running through my head for the entire run time of the movie...
The what tipped you off part had me laughing to loud for work :)))
Kinda feel like it would take more than two guys to herd that many sheep.
The movie is also about the excessive expectations of employers and insufficient support given to employess in the modern capitalist system.
0:53 I think this won the MTV Movie award for best kissing scene.
It did. And thank goodness. Poor Jake suffered cuz Heath kissed him so hard he nearly broke his nose. And Jake said that despite them having a brawl scene, filming the reunion left him sore. 😂😂
@@Noxofspades-lh7bj this movie is in my top 3 favorite romantic love story movies
Because it makes perfect sense they'd hid being in love especially in the 1960s with a tragic ending
4:26 you forgot the composer Gustavo Santaolalla (that won the Oscar for this music and the year after for Babel's) that last year composed the music for the tv series The Last of Us.
PERFECT choice for Valentines Day. I didn’t expect to see an Honest Trailer for this, but I’m SO glad I did. ❤
And i especially love this is the only (from what i've seen) trailer that actually describes the film in a more serious way. And leave out any mentions of the deaths of the film, when usually a joke (no matter how dark) would be included in some way.
That Jay Leno impression. 🤣🤣🤣
Crash winning opened my eyes about how ridiculous/crapola the Oscars actually are. Never took them seriously after that.
I'm still mad at how the Oscars treated Brokeback mountain. Some voters refused to watch it, and it was mocked at the awards. Glad Ledger didn't tolerate that nonsense and refused to present there after.
The brokeback mountain really deserved better. Not just regarding it winning best picture, but the reactions it sparked despite it being a well-made, critically acclaimed film was really unwarranted.
Really? That was it? Not "Citizen Kane" losing Best Picture to "How Green Was My Valley"? Peter O'Toole NEVER winning an Oscar despite his career? Al Pacino "winning Best Actor for "Scent of a Woman" because the Academy wanted to "make up" for the fact he should've won for "The Godfather Part II"? "Shakespeare in Love" winning Best Picture over "Saving Private Ryan"? I could go all day. But, I'm saying is the Academy has always been a joke and always will be a joke. Nothing has changed and nothing ever will change.
@@jbvader721 Well, you you have far better points than Crash for "quitting" the Oscars. I bow to all of them. Wasn't the first disagreement I've had with the Oscars, but maybe it hit in a period I was watching that I thought it meant anything.
The Jay Leno joke was hilarious
😂
Definitely! Best joke of the video
Had to pause at the Jay Leno part due to audible laughter

A admit of shame now.
I remember the Oscars then, and I remember the feelings, that I had that time. I was happy, that brokenback mountain didn't get the Oscar, because I thought it would get the Oscar only for the topic, not for the story and acting. Solely unjustified prejudices of me. Shame on me!
After seeing the film 15 years later I have to admit, I was touched by the drama. Very disturbing heart-breaking scene, while Ledger stand next to the wardrobe holding the shirt in his hand.
This film changed my perspective, and I think I am not alone.
So it deserves truely an Oscar.

This movie still makes me cry every time I watch it. CRASH DIDN'T DESERVE THE OSCARS FOR BEST PICTURE.
Agreed. Even the director of crash said he didn't deserve to win best picture.
But i was funny to see jack Nicholson's reaction after he announced it. He was so baffled 😂 and from a podcast i listened to, he even went to the cast+crew of brokeback mountain and actually told them "i voted for brokeback."
I'm so happy you called out the Oscars in this one. Crash was just a bunch of short stories put together into a film. But this film was just so beautiful, I was so surprised when it lost the Best Film.
Truly an iconic film that deserved that Oscar.
