    The chord you mentioned is a Gsus 11. Basically it is a G dominant 7 chord (GBDF) with the added 9th(A) and 11th (C). Great Video.

    Thats the soul dominant move. Look it up. It a Vsus4(9) used as dominant or V11. Has ambiguous quality (No 3rd).
    And that progression can also be described as a 1-6-4-flat7 in the minor mode.

  • @giorgioferrari6645
    @giorgioferrari6645 Před 5 lety +3

    Your contents are always super smooth! 2 questions (I have classical harmony background): Why do you consider the key to be C major instead of A minor? Why do you call a second inversion a chord with its root on the bass (Am7 chord) - to me it seems a root position with the 3rd on the melodic part)? TIA

    • @stefanguy
      @stefanguy  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey Giorgio! Thanks man! It is A minor indeed. But I haven’t done a lesson on relative minors yet and didn’t want to confuse people. As the notes are the same. I figured those that know, know. Plus, I pretty much learnt playing at church, whenever we called numbers we did so in Major to avoid confusion and to keep a standard even if the song could be considered more in a minor key we’d call the numbers from the relative major.
      So yeah my theory may be a little sketchy at times lol.
      Regarding the second inversion, my bad, ignore my left hand. I’m just referring to the notes in my right. Hope that makes sense and thanks again brother!

    • @Sighdafekt
      @Sighdafekt Před 4 lety

      Bashanvibe it’s a Gsus11 but only because the right hand isn’t actually Fmaj7 but Dm7 in first inversion, and he’s not hitting the E, even though it look like it because his pinky is hovering over the key.
