Today we are looking at Windows 11 Ameliorated a project that kickstarted custom operating systems and are innovating the community with the AME Wizard, how does their own OS stack up? today we take a look at it.
The Ameliorated Dev team's latest release which is Playbooks for Windows AME, which are a way of automating Windows AME installation and streamlining the process. Windows Ameliorated is a VERY stripped down version of Windows so install at your own risk!

Hey, thanks for the coverage! We always appreciate feedback, and are curious what you would personally recommend we change with the AME Playbooks. Currently we are focusing on improving the Wizard and other related software. The AME 11 and 10 Playbooks, while good, are still in Beta.
I would like to note however, that the weird errors you had at the end, were almost entirely due to tweaks and other software you had pre-installed before running AME Wizard. For example, you absolutely can normally right click the task bar in AME, so those issues in the video must have been caused by something else done to the system beforehand. The Settings app is also generally completely stable, and that strange loading bug you encountered must have been some weird Windows fluke.

I'm glad that you're covering this, because not many people have heard of this project, or even know that AME Wizard was made by a separate team of people.
Nice video and thanks for the feedback! Regarding 14:51, AME Wizard at its core is a tool made as an alternative to ISOs, you can create your own playbooks and run them at runtime, you can see our documentation for more info on how to create your own, there's also a GUI development kit in the works that simplifies creating your own playbooks that will be out soon, so stay tuned :)

Glad you like it! In our next update we will have custom options available for Playbook creators, including our own AME 11/10 Playbooks. This will allow users, among other things, to select (or deselect) pre-installed software.

i feel like AME is the most extreme debloat of windows
would be nice if we can see more legally made Ghost spectre compact windows that was debloat almost all system(Including defender) while retains some nice feature to have under user consent that piece were connected to microsoft even without their consent (like those UWP,MS Account or Xbox Game pass) and some "security" features used in those rootkit/anti malware anticheats seen on Vanguard's Valorant
Nexus LiteOS 11 Has Almost no bloatware and the toolkit that it provides is so modern and useful
maybe try to do some kind of comparison video about Windows 10 VS Windows 11 latency (including stock and custom ISO (Atlas or Revi))

Can you compare AME 10 to AME 11. Nice video! I don't also recommond AME 10 or 11, you can use Ghost Spectre or Windows 10 LTSC or make your own OS or optimize the OS that you have.

@@TheNetRiper The idea of AME Wizard is to be able to do this kind of stuff easily in one tool, you can create your own playbook, you don't necessarily have to use one of the available ones, and you can run it at runtime instead of creating ISOs.

If you elevate yourself to Adminstrator in the Central AME script you wont have to enter the password in UAC prompt

Not a good idea. With all of the security features stripped out, UAC is pretty much your last line of defense. You can get away with always being an Administrator on regular Windows but it's far more dangerous to do that in AME. Just set your admin password to something pretty short and enter it every time. If you're too lazy to do that you're better off not using AME at all.

Does the PC "Xbox Game Pass" app work on AME? That's the only reason I don't use ReviOS for 11.

ghost specter is the best for gaming and has all the windows features. I wonder what ameliorated would work on that os might try it.

Yeah it pretty much removes all account management unless you use their AME Tool to manage your user accounts, but no Microsoft accounts are supported.

The AME 10 and AME 11 Playbooks target bloated, useless system components, and services that incur network activity without the user consent. This includes all Microsoft-related garbage, and Microsoft accounts are part of that.

If you want a more usable but still extremly light OS - Try Ghost Spectre Minimal...But if you want more of a usable experience (but still better than windows ltsc) - Try Ghost Spectre Compact
i get trojans on the websites they use so i would avoid ghost spectre
@@thyluv5k You're probably not using the correct website.
They are quite safe, and has been verified by multiple sources, and every "custom" install is not reccomended to completely trust on.
Keep in mind that custom ISO files are generally risky to use, since you can't really verify what has been done to them. Distributing ISO files is also explicitly against Microsoft's end user license agreement, and can get the groups that publish them into a lot of trouble.
AME Wizard and the Playbook system was created for this very reason! The software and Playbooks are open source, and the modifications are done to your existing OS. Better yet, the size of Playbooks to download is only a few megabytes, while ISOs are gigabytes in size.

@@sangow6501 xcazy ninja jp or somethin like that i promise you i want everyone to stop using that. it takes some digging into his toolbox but there was this one setting to change the hpet dynamic ticks (i thought these were only registry tweaks) but it brought up that website and it closed out the "Ghost Toolbox" app. please be safe yall

With all the problems that arise with custom isos and these playbooks I dont even think its worth it for anything other than maybe a single purpose virtual machine. With a completely fresh install of windows 11 22H2 I got 133 processes and 2,3 GB of ram. With only the CTT toolbox and by uninstalling everything that was possible I got 69 processes (nice) and 1,7 GB of ram. With steam, epic games, discord and some other minor apps running in the background I get around 98 processes and 3,1 GB of ram usage. (I also still have defender that is a big plus)
Yeah on my main PC, I've done the same. Fresh install using CTT tools and disabling settings myself gives pretty good results too, and plus you get defender and things are not likely to be broken later down the line

Remember that windows chaches important files in ram for a speed up

If you are running Windows 11 22H2 then you can run the playbook and it should run no problem, but do it at your own risk!

you just reinstall windows yourself by using the windows10/11 installation media with a usb drive
Someone help me asap. I used this software and it said it's deleting Microsoft edge so I tried to cancel it but it didn't stopped so I hit shut down. Now I'm entering the username(it's the local username right?) and same password(the one I used earlier for Microsoft) but it is not working. It says username or password incorrect.

I think it changes your password to "malte"
It generally prompts you to enter a password to your user in the WIzard, as seen in the video. If you had a Microsoft account, it will have been converted to a local account. The username will be the first 5 letters of your email address, and the password will have been set to "malte".

You manually typed in your password to your user before ameliorating in an extremely apparent popup modal in the Wizard UI. There is no way for us to make it more abundantly obvious!

Which collection is better: Revi, Atlas, Ame 11?
Atlas for 10, Revi for 11. This build has ripped out far to many components and then installed other apps like StarIsBack, Firefox as shown even though a user may not want any of these choices, it is basically rebloated itself. The settings menu is broken and there is no task manager. Revi allows you to choose between any of these options and does not break Windows like this does.

Yeah... only a fresh reinstall can revert the changes. It is a very private Windows but not the best in practice

Well, while privacy is indeed a primary focus, gaming generally works flawlessly on AME. We personally run AME as a daily driver OS, and are able to play the latest games on Steam, use modern productivity software etc. without any issues whatsoever. The OS simply more stable and respects your privacy.
@@ameliorated117 some games arent compatible (in my experience) with AME and i dont want people to break their systems and then complain that the os is bad. its not a bad os its just not meant for gaming exclusively. i love you guys btw
@@xellpur I think it should be stated that we target power-users with AME 10/11, not everyday, technically illiterate users. Within that framework, I think it is perfectly acceptable to recommend the AME 10/11 Playbooks.

here's my review from what you showed us, AME wizard doesnt show you what it does to system, you cant use choose individual settings to modify before running script. it doesnt actually cut processes it uses known tweak to bond multiple processes as one. from what you're showing it became choppy system. custom maybe unsafe start menu and their own exe and dll files running on your system.
myself do everything on my own one tool i use is called msmg toolkit plus autoruns dism++ and registry mods and while i have 16gb ram my system 11 22h2 idle uses 1.7gb ram. and when you look in task manager my cpu will go to 0% use when idle, no interruptions no dism errors no event viewer errors, original start menu no extra dlls or exe installed, thats the kind of system you should promote not some choppy no one knows what done extra exe, dll files, maybe unreliable unsafe system.
