Afther many years of shouting the entertainment studios like Marvel and DC are beginning to learn that the public want old school entertainment but have they heard that we also want non woke movies and tv shows? that is the real question. Esthetics are all well and good but if your going to make the fantastic four or x-men or superman etc popular again it needs a lot more then an old time super suit.

The Ideas presented by the civil rights movement and modern "diversity" ideas are not the same. One presents the idea that all people regardless of appearance or background should get a chance to climb the economic and social ladder as well as equal rights to basic services and living. the other demands that one race should be brought down or excluded to bring the other races up in the name of DEI.

Captain Marvel was set in the 90s and Wonder Woman 1984 was set in the 80s. This literally means nothing on it's own. Pedro Pascal's involvement is already off-putting, not to mention the fact that this is tied to the smoldering ruin that was once the MCU. At least being set in the past will enable them to ignore more of the new stuff, if they are smart enough to know that's what needs to be done. It's possible this could be good, and I genuinely hope that it is, but I will believe it when I see it.
Superman killing Zod in “Man of Steel” did not bother me given the well setup stakes: let Zod live & the family of humans he was about to incinerate die, Superman plead with Zod to stop and he didn’t and Superman didn’t snap his neck till the last moment. Zod forced Superman’s hand. I liked Snyder’s “Man of Steel” Henry Cavill looks like Superman his Kansas/Midwest accent was spotless and his performances as Superman was amazing. I only wish he got to wear the suit more.

Got to agree with the others. Being set in the 60's in itself is not a guarantee of anything. However, it is promising that they are correctly not making the FF a new superhero team compared to the other MCU ones. May be that they'll finally get the other dynamics right too, unlike the previous adaptations. I wonder if they are meant to say in the 60's or get transported to the current day MCU through some multiverse BS, or space/negative zone time dilation problems.

They've already said the new Fantastic 4 movie was going to focus on Sue Storm. That combined with setting it during the Civil Right Movement era is a red flag for woke messaging. I'm guessing all the boys will look down on Sue one way or another, Johnny with more sibling antagonism, Reed dismissively, and Ben protectively (i.e. "stand back and let the men handle the rough stuff"), and she'll have to teach them to value her as a strong, independent woman. And with a female Silver surfer, I'm also predicting bisexual tension there.
Now, a red flag isn't a problem itself, just a sign that there may be a big underlying problem, so I could be wrong and the movie could be great, but as of right now, I'm skeptical.

I don't believe anything Disney cranks out will ever be like the good ole days as the company is lousy with activists. I haven't seen X-Men: 97 but I've heard the anti-mutant human protestors are kind of stand ins for the right and that season 2 likely won't be as good. Also I've heard that the F4 movie will be Sue-centric and that Reed ends up becoming a villain.

Without such an action, without a Hollywood studio laying off its slew of diversity hires and publicly apologizing for what it allowed to happen, all that we're getting is "We hate you but we want your money, so here's something a bit more palatable with our hatred of you better hidden."

My feelings on Pedro Pascal are mixed. I saw that promotional image and was incredibly excited because it looked like Jeremy Renner was Mr. Fantastic, but now I'm far more conflicted. I don't watch movies or TV shows anymore, so my opinions on the show won't really matter, but I'm still very conflicted.

I can't think of another comic book couple like that. Closest might be Green Arrow and Canary, but they're a fairly recent thing and there've been some comics where they weren't together.../glances over at the one where Canary and Batman make out while bad guys burn in the background.
