  • Simple fishing for bigger carp on a float fishing rod and a centrepin reel using paste and pellets. A great fun way to catch carp and you get a good fight which is much more fun than dragging the same size fish in on heavy conventional carp gear!

    Lovely Bill, I do use carp rods when the situation calls for it and I also float fish on light gear for them, there's no comparison fight wise for the thrill and excitement of a close in scrap, I've caught more carp and some of my biggest carp float fishing but you know how it is, if you're not sitting behind 3 rods on bite alarms you are not a carp angler lol. Keep them coming Bill and tight lines.

    I did this myself last weekend carp on the pin and I have to say nothing quite like playing a fish on the pin, I have made a promise to myself this year the pin will be my go to reel so I can improve in its use. I have a 1960's Strike Right paid £10 for it I use it with a drennan puddle chucker 11ft that I paid £15 for, perfect combo.Thanks for posting, that chuckle on the first fish said it all !!

    No way on God's green's earth they were doubles, Bill. I'm a huge fan of carp on a pin and float rod - far and away my favourite day's fishing (even though I have to travel 80 miles or more to be able to do it - Northumberland is a coarse fishing toilet) - and a 5lb carp is great entertainment: but in the interests of expectation management for other viewers of your video who might not be familiar with carp that's what these were.
    No less enjoyable for that - TBH sometimes I'd prefer that size to the lumps that commercial fisheries routinely turn up - but a realistic sense of proportion is no bad thing.

    Nice footage again Bill and to reiterate the comments from others it’s really good to see you looking well.
    Got to be honest and say I’m not much of a carp fan, or rather I’m not happy that they’ve been stocked into virtually every water to the detriment of our “proper” indigenous species.
    Still as you’ve proved they do provide brilliant sport and when I do fish for them it’s either like you’ve shown on rod n pin or off the top on simple old fashioned floating crust.
    I often use carp for perfecting landing big chub and barbel on the float by fishing commercials really fine with 2lb line on an ancient aerial centrepin and my old Normark 2000 Titan - as you know it’s amazing what can be landed with “gentle hands” provided the tackle is balanced.
    Tight lines mate, keep em coming !

    Nice video mate, with you on what I call commercial sized Carp on float tackle and a pin. Fishing is about having fun and I don’t like heavy Carp gear sitting there all day listening for a buzzer to go off isn’t fun to me. I don’t pole fish either now there is little tactile when playing a fish and erecting enough scaffolding to renovate a house doesn’t appeal to me. I sooner use my centre pin and a strong float rod anyway. I guess it’s because we’re old mate, less tackle is more when you have old legs to contend with. I have the same rod use it for natural pools and canals for Crucian and Tench.

    • @easyfishing1936
      @easyfishing1936  Před 5 lety

      Hi why I agree that this is a great fun way to catch carp it only works at very close range. What I would say is that an elasticated pole is so simple and after all is just a long stick with the line tied to the end, and gives unbeatable presentation and doesn’t cost more than a rod. You can buy a very useable 8 mtr Pole for about £80. It’s not all oil rig seatbox’s and 16 mtr £3000 poles as I have demonstrated on my video’s. Bill

    *These are very small, lightweightits **enjoyable.fishing** recommend they’re meant to use with the trout magnet 1/16 oz jigs however they also work great for fishing live bait. My son and I have caught crappie, blue gill, bass and catfish using these for various setups. You can fish slipit style or pinch you line between theit and the shaft for a non slip setup.*

    Easy to make your own fibre paste Bill; A bag of green Swimstim or anything similar plus wheat gluten. Mix 60% groundbait to 40% gluten but you can vary the amount of gluten to suit your required paste stiffness.
    You may be able to find wheat gluten at your local supermarket or alternatively any decent bait supplier, I get mine from CC.Moore for about £3 for a kilo. total cost less than a tenner for GB and gluten but much more economical in the long term that the pre-mixed fibre pastes.
