While on a recent break Mick and I had a couple of evenings catching small carp on lightish tackle and between us we caught loads. So here is short film some of it shot in the dark. I was trying to get the bite and all the other action on camera and stopped fishing to watch Mick.

I had a couple of days holiday on a beautiful secluded venue. I stayed in a waterside wooden lodge and just wanted some simple fishing in the small pond. Another session after a river Tench and this was one of those sessions where if something could go wrong it did! Everyone has days like this, maybe your bait has ended being accidentally kicked in the water or a vital item of tackle got left at home. Frustrating to say the least and on this session several things went wrong.

Still in pursuit of a river Tench i decided to try fishing the method feeder, Normally thick weed beds and rowers make this almost impossible but after a big weed cut had cleared a lot of the river i decided to give it a try. With a few spare hours i headed off to a local gravel pit in search of some quality fish. The wind was very strong and fishing the pole or waggler would have been difficult, so i set up the method feeder and tried out a new rod. I only had a couple of hours to spare at the end of the day, too hot to fish during the day anyway, so i headed down the river with a simple whip outfit and some slices of bread for the hook and some simple crumb groundbait. I had a fantastic session catching non stop and although there was a lot of disturbance from spectators, walkers, scullers and paddle boards i had a very enjoyable session....

Just a very short, about 2 1/2 hours, on my local river. Target species were Tench, Bream and possibly Carp. I used a short pole to get good presentation and used a 8mm Halibut pellet for bait. Fishing a Park Lake on a busy hot evening

I needed to wet a line so i headed to a local park lake. The park was busy with walkers, joggers, cyclists and people enjoying the sunshine and unfortunately included a man who was convinced everyone would like his loud music!! More people should fish their local park lakes, if you have one locally, as they can offer great fishing!

Well after lockdown easing, this was my first short session. The day was very hot so a short evening session was the only option. I fished a local club lake and just wanted to catch a few fish. I was not targeting bigger fish, any would do, the size was not important!

I used a Float other week on a lake the main line kept hooking around the float,,in a tangle,,is there any reason for that??
Sad to hear Bill has left us, but learnt an awful lot from him and often return to learn more.

Yuo this is the bloke to listen to, i used to catch fish as a kid for survival niw im an adult im getting into fishing for fun but im a caveman the fella i watched before this had a mary poppins bag full of gear about £200 worth i got a £16 whip 3 rigs, a tub and some maggots and somewhere to sit thats all we need.

Persistence paid off! What a fish!!
Good video for a recovering aneurism/stroke patient. I enjoy fishing with cane poles or "whips" as they say in the UK. Never used prepared bait before to lure fish in. Just bait a hook with a worm and wait...lol. Easy fishing is the way I like to do things. Will have to give prepared bait a go here in the Midwest as most of my fishing is done in rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Live Canadian Night Crawlers on a hook is what we Yanks use here. Not quite as sophisticated as you British anglers are but if it works, it works mate.

Great stuff. Recently got into whip fishing after finding myself getting fed up with all the 'gear', time spent tackling up only to get snagged all over the place. Admittedly that's my poor angling skills, but what I find with the whip is that it's no longer a chore to go fishing. As I'm not a specimen hunter this suits me just fine.
