    My state of Iowa was one of those 13 states, our governor sited childhood obesity as the reason for not taking the money. As if she’s so concerned she would rather kids go hungry instead.

      Oh wow. And high-calorie, nutrient-poor food is a big part of the obesity problem. Filling children up with quality proteins, vitamins, and minerals would help ease child obesity!

      Yeah, no, we're not.
      As of 2023, the top ten countries based on education rankings are:
      United States 1
      United Kingdom 2
      Germany 3
      Canada 4
      France 5
      Switzerland 6
      Japan 7
      Australia 8
      Sweden 9
      Netherlands 10
      For more, Google "where does the us rank in education in the world", without the quotes. This info comes from the first hit, but there are quite a few others which only vary by a little bit.

      Graduation, enrollment totals, and literacy rates determine the overall education ranking. Germany ranks first in education with 99% literacy and a 0.94 ranking.

      The Program for International Student Assessment is administered by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and it tests 15-year-old students around the world. The U.S. placed 11th out of 79 countries in science when the test was last administered in 2018. It did much worse in math, ranking 30th.1 "

    Carrying a person to term is demonstrably risky to one's health, even life. A woman choosing to bear that risk should be honored for her courage, never shunned for choosing instead to defend herself with deadly force against that real risk, let alone that risk of real harm and death be made compulsory by the state.
    I predict massive lawsuits brought upon states adopting draconian laws currently held only by third-world countries (check for yourself).
    Either that - or all of us agree to outlaw self-defense.

    I would love to no those supposed states. I know of states that are there for years for low income families. Providing financial needs, parenting classes, food, help with housing, job training, material needs for babies and children, just about everything and anything one could imagine. There are also resources available for women to find free health clinics, pediatric care, etc. I know that for a fact (for every state), because I worked on in in my own state..getting the information out there. Additionally, many churches provide information, care, financial assistance, etc ..all on their own.

    Forced to have children? Were they raped or held at gunpoint to get pregnant; or were they irresponsible and got pregnant, without considering the consequences on them and their families?
    Secondly, it's easy for Barney Frank to criticise Conservatives, when his own policy of 'home ownership for everyone' was the main driver behind the housing boom & bust of the 2000's
