  • Clinical psychologist Dr Jordan Peterson has examined the ongoing brutal war between Israel and Hamas during an insightful and confronting wide-ranging interview with Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
Dr Peterson, a world-famous public intellectual, spoke of the “moral quandary” associated with war and discussed how the current conflict may end up being “played out”.
He also said the demonstrations being seen around the Western world are likely to get larger and more effective in direct proportion to Israel’s military success.
“Palestine is a reality that isn’t going to go away and Israel’s a reality that isn’t going to go away,” Dr Peterson argued.
Piers Morgan and Dr Peterson also discussed the anti-Semitic response being seen across parts of the world amid the ongoing conflict.
“The anti-Semitic response in the last three weeks has been actually quite terrifying to watch,” Mr Morgan said.
“I’ve got Jewish friends who are literally living in real fear now.”

Piers, the fact that Israel is still the supplier of electricity, water and internet to Gaza 18 years after handing over to Palestinians tells us more about the failure of Hamas to govern the strip well than it does about Israeli control. If Hamas hadn't squandered the billions in aid on digging tunnels and buying missiles, they could have built their own power stations and desalination plants and been self-sufficient by now.

Israel being able to cut off power, water, Internet and phone communications isn't a problem with Israel it is a problem with Gaza. over 15 years of independence and billions of dollars of aid and not having the ability to provide water and power to an area the size of a small city shows how much Hamas cares about it's people.

Piers, just for your own knowledge:
    1. Israel only provides less than 10% of the water to Gaza
    2. Israel provides electricity to Gaza as a humanitarian aid because Hamas is using the majority of the grid to supply power to their rockets, instead of giving it to the civilians.
    3. Hamas makes millions by supplying extremely limited power to the civilian population and selling them generators instead,a very lucrative “side business ”
    4. Hamas is holding 230 civilians hostage, babies included, remember that

Please read this with patience. If it's not obvious from my handle I am a muslim living in a western country and I have strong democratic and liberal sentiments. I fully support free speech and secular societies. I abhor extremism or any situation where one side tries to force religious beliefs on another. The majority of muslims living in the west are like me, and actually have a ton of empathy for jewish people. I have always been appalled and confused in equal measure by the Israel-Palestine situation.
I found it very instructive to hear this interview with Jordan Peterson after listening to Piers' interviews with Bassem Youssef. BY often sounded emotional or dark but ultimately came from a position of humanity and fairness. JP on the other hand sounded very reasonable and pragmatic but ultimately he came across to me as very biased. I agree with JP that the Palestinians are convenient cannon fodder for some regional powers like Iran; that the Abraham accords were a surprisingly positive step with real potential; and that surrounding countries that also have Palestinian refugees need to absorb them properly. However he was totally silent on the roots of the current situation; what Israel should do with its own Palestinian refugees - he made no mention of the land grabs and violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. Laughable for him to claim western colonialism has nothing to do with this mess; or when he called out Palestinians for not rising up against their rulers - as if the Israeli government itself hasn't been happy with the status quo, and actively supported the oppressive Palestinian leadership structures, including Hamas itself! This is victim blaming developed into an art form.
I actually agree that we need to start with where we are today, and think about what is best for the current generation of Palestinians - who have no prospects whatsoever - as well as for Israelis; and I would go further and say we need to support liberal democracy, and I even agree that Israel is the closest thing to it in the region. But it is disingenuous to pretend that Israel's actions are OK because it is "good" and everyone else is "bad" - which was the hidden message in JP's eloquence. I ended up feeling intellectually bullied, something right wing academics seem very good at, and exactly the kind of thing BY said would simply perpetuate the problems.
Piers I applaud your recent interviews and the visibility and more thoughtful exchanges you are bringing to these issues, but I do think you need to call things out when your interviewee is just not playing a straight bat and hiding a toxic message behind being very articulate.

Yes, if Iranian weaponry support of Hamas is to be abhored, so should US and other western powers' weaponry support of Israel be held responsible for enabling occupation and massacre, which inevitably causes terrorist response. Jordan is at least mildly hypocritical to say anger at Israel is anti-semitism. After the crusades, and many western wars against muslims, the west could equally be accused as following anti-muslim propaganda to enable by proxy wars against the Palestinians, possibly being responsible for using the murdered Israelis on the 7th as cannon fodder for their interests in the region.

    • @victordirectdemocrats
      @victordirectdemocrats Před 6 měsíci +5

Unfortunately, a bad image can lead to having too many enemies and few supporters and lead to death. The Palestinians have terrible leaders but I am not impressed with Israelis either; droppinges a bomb on innocent civilians to kill a Hamas guy is as nutty as killing flies with artillery, the results are far worse than not bothering with the fly. Israel has only one option; pin point killings of Hamas and, before doing get the hostages free, or try to until it is obvious Hamas will not. The bad image Israel is developing could be deadly; already more Democrats support Palestinians than support Israelis. I suspect support or sympathy of US Jews is falling too. When a deep economic crisis breaks out in the US it is impossible how the masses will react towards the elites with with too many Jews are identified. US Jews put a lot of effort (smarts and money) to influence the politicians but those same politicians will abandon the Jews and Israel if they see the masses turning on them. Jews have been persecuted in all important countries of the West. In the US they have not been persecuted, although they were discriminated, showing the antisemitic weed is there. Sam Zell (a Jew) already says: "The US is the Weimar Republic", we all know what happened afterwards. Germany was also a highly developed, highly educated country but when the economy went to Hell, a rabid antisemite rose and it seems the majority of the German people were in fact hostile or indifferent towards the fate of the Jews. Jews in Germany were also very successful and had money put that did not protect them much. The hard fact is that an enraged mob can not be stopped, and even less a police state. The 6 million Jews murdered by the German Nazis, because most Germans looked the other way shows I am right. US Jews will not be safer if the US economy goes to Hell and, certainly it is not prudent of Jews to believe "it can not happen here"; the US is already the Weimar Republic.
The solution is two states after a series of referendums on both sides, take the key power away from politicians and the peoples will stop hating each other; the Palestinians will swallow the bitter pill of Israel's existance and look forward to leave in peace with the Israelis and the Israelis will have to swallow the bitter pill of forgetting "greater Israel" and also give up many settlements and territory to create a Palestinian state. I think both peoples (not politicians) are capable of sincerely accepting each other, just like Swiss Catholics and Protestant gave up hating and killing each other and created the best governed most democratic country in the World (forget the fake "democracy rankings" of The Economist and others)
In TheSwissPoliticalSystem.com I have videos about this.
By the way, I did not know Dr Peterson was daltonic and that he has a taylor that sells hims clothes made with fabrig remnants.

Do you expect Egypt to provide, for free, water and electricity to Gaza? No? The persistence of terrorism and the ensuing cycles of retaliatory violence represent one of the most profound challenges to global peace and security. Time and again, we are confronted with the harrowing consequences of extremist ideologies that fuel hatred and division, leading to the loss of countless innocent lives.
At the heart of these conflicts lie narratives steeped in longstanding grievances, instilled from a tender age, where children are taught animosity, extinguishing the prospects of peace. Such ideologies reject the notion of peaceful coexistence and are predicated on the misguided belief that violence is the only path to change.
A multifaceted approach is imperative in combating these ideologies. While immediate security measures are crucial to protect lives, they must be complemented by strategies aimed at dismantling the socio-economic and political structures that underpin extremism. This includes investing in education that promotes tolerance, fostering economic opportunities that counteract the desperation exploited by terrorist recruiters, and ensuring inclusive political processes.
True resolution can emerge only from a genuine commitment to dialogue and reconciliation. To achieve lasting peace, we must bridge the divides of mistrust and hostility with understanding and collaboration. The international community must stand united in facilitating such outcomes, recognizing that peace is not merely the absence of violence but the presence of justice and the flourishing of human potential for all.
In the pursuit of global peace, 🙏.
In a world that often seems divided by deep-seated differences, it is a fundamental moral imperative for religious leaders and global institutions to stand as protectors of the innocent and defenders against aggression. This duty transcends borders, ethnicities, and creeds, uniting us in our shared humanity and in our collective responsibility to safeguard the vulnerable.
The recent conflicts and the alleged support of Hamas by nations such as Turkey and Jordan not only raise grave concerns about the violation of international laws but also bring into question our moral compass as an international community. When we witness the promotion of violence by those who should be its staunchest opponents, we are reminded of the core morality that should guide all leaders: to preserve life, to seek peace, and to uphold justice.
As a global citizen, I appeal to the United Nations and NATO to reflect on this moral responsibility. It is not enough to condemn; there must be action to prevent member states from becoming complicit in the perpetuation of violence. Our shared Abrahamic traditions teach us the virtue of being our brother’s and sister’s keeper, and our international frameworks are built on the promise of defending the defenseless.
The distinction between defending and attacking is not just strategic, but profoundly moral. To blur these lines not only undermines international stability but corrodes the very ethics upon which our civilizations are built. We look to our religious and world leaders not just for guidance, but for the embodiment of a principle that is as ancient as it is urgent: to protect and defend, never to initiate harm.

I don’t dislike either or like one more than the other. I do, however, want them to live in peace. I do want other people to respect my way of life as I respect theirs.
This whole conflict wouldn’t have even hit a radar had people had always respected the rights of other people. That includes WW2 which was the precursor to the feel for the need of a Jewish state to begin with.
Right now it needs countries to all work together to produce a solution to this conflict. If there is to be a peaceful one it will require people to respect and accept the way of life of other people.

So now we come to the point that they were brought up to hate Israel and they are all probably Hamas supporters, not because they want to but because they don't know anything else.
So it's either they are all Hamas or do we as a western civilization need to think of them as also victims of Hamas.
At this point, I think we should let the IDF do what it knows how to do best and hope that it will come down to the minimum of civilian life lost.

It amazes me that no one is talking about the responsibility the coalition of five Arab armies from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia (who sent a formation that fought under the Egyptian command) bear for the Palestinian refugees.
The Arab-Israeli War of 1948 broke out when five Arab nations invaded territory in the former Palestinian mandate immediately following the announcement of the independence of the state of Israel on May 14, 1948.
Israel was forced to fight for its very existence, and by some miracle from God, this tiny fledgling nation defeated the combined might of five powerful Arab nations.
Meanwhile, the Arab collations land grab resulted in the Palestinian refugee crises.
Why have the five powerful Arab nations who with wilful murderous intent not offered to resettle the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians they made homeless through their unprovoked land grab?
Why, even after seven decades since they caused this disastrous outcome for Palestinians have they done nothing?
Why do the Arab nations continue to finance terrorism within the region instead of offering to re-settle the very people whom they disposed of their land?

The innocent people of Gaza were born in the biggest concentration camp in the world, their food intake is controlled by israeli government, their water supply if they have any is controlled by is israeli government, every couple of years they undergo a" lawn cutting " and if they survive it, they don't have the facilities to heal ( children are having limb cutting procedures without any pain killers nor anastesia ). Let's not talk about white phosphorus and the fact that they can't leave Gaza without permission from the israeli government .
So to answer you're question, there is no hamas, hamas is the resistance, it's everyone, every child they kill his parents, every parent that lost his child, every mother that carried her child remains in plastic bags is hamas, as long as the people live resistance lives.
It's their country! Have you people no shame!!! They have to leave their housing , live like sardines , in an open air prison with limited supplies, die on a daily basis, have 0 rights, be treated like animals if they're lucky to live and you want them to obey and no resist!!! I’m hugely disappointed in Dr. Peterson’s response to Israel’s campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide. As someone who has studied the history of atrocities and genocides so deeply he should be in the forefront of the conversation demanding that Israel stop its inexcusable actions.
