  • With the end of Game of Thrones, Brandon Stark has been crowned the King of Westeros. What does that mean though for Bran, calling himself the Three-Eyed Raven, to become King? And for Westeros going forwards to have a magical avatar of the Old Gods and the weirwoods sits the Iron throne?

GRRM always criticized Tolkien about the ending of LotR because little information about Aragon’s rule came from the Return of the King. I have little faith a Dream of Spring will ever be written and the show doesn’t help in revealing what happens with Bran after the credits role. The ending of A song of Ice and Fire is sudden and unknown.

I'd even add that he was the on that scuppered Jon's heroic ending with the ice dragon and forging the love between he and Daenarys. Having Bran win the throne absolutely fixes the story for D&D also - Brans butterfly effect time phone hack.

Transmutation of God image values throughout society is a great point. Notion of Bran drowning, actually becoming the drowned God. A notion that all membersnof the 7 kingdoms have forgotten their true beliefs and begun to role play the words of the old ways, literalising the metaphors into today's belief systems. Something very Jungian and Nietschean about all of this. Great video, as always.

If kings Landing gets devastated like it does in the show I could see king bran turning Harrenhal into the new capital. It's geographically central to Westeros and is right next to the isle of faces. Merge the crownlands and the Riverlands so the most vulnerable Provence is under direct protection of the king, plus it gives the king a huge number of directly sworn vassals/manpower. (Not that he'll likely need that manpower with the power of being basically the avatar of the old gods)

love the insights and connections with ancient wizard kings, aswell.... adding the Valyrians to your list of overcomings the old gods did.
Because adding the Valyrians to that list, contributes in any theory's about greenseers actually helping out pre-valyrians with dragonbonding as a weapon against the others.
It's intriguing that Rhllor has the great other as it's nemesis, because it's the same nemesis the old gods have.
Extrapolating..... there can be assumption of Rhllor to being more connect to old valyria then we have information about and maybe Rhllor, is a branched off aspect of the valyrian religion, maybe even reformed one or more times after.
We know the old gods are a more ancient religion then the valyrian gods and it would be fantastic if there would be some canon source that could give more information about the origins of the Rhllor religion. If it predates valyrian gods aswell.... or if it was founded after the valyrian freehold was established.
With the dragons, doing their own damage and bondage to the world, having that aspect removed, might be a priority for the "old gods".
So yeah, love how you added them to your list of overcomings that the old gods did..... hinting towards setting another wrong right.... in this world.

Rather that they were that higher power. Somebody sitting with a glass candle messing with people maybe? That's one answer I would love though, what exactly was that and how did it return people to life?

I don’t know if I buy the part specifically about “maybe there’s not enough room left in there for Bran,” like, it’s magic. If it wanted enough room for Bran, there would be. I think it’s more like Bran has been supplanted as the “personality with access to the light” as is described when he is Warging poor Hodor, or any of the stuff Varomir six skins describes about consciousnesses fading once they’ve been replaced by a stronger one; if you’re not stronger than a wolf’s instinctual drives and you warg into a wolf when your body dies, you will eventually just become a wolf again, the human consciousness fading almost entirely. That’s why they would try to jump human bodies, but even then, you can either be pushed out by the other person’s will if it rivals your own, so I think Bran is basically in the Sunken Place like from Get Out. He’s more willful than Hodor and has his own magical abilities, so I think for the “switcheroo” the three eyed raven pulled hints that whatever ancient, eldritch avatar of the old gods that has installed its software into Bran is not just not Blood Raven, it’s not even human and was simply using Blood Raven as his last puppet until his magically-extended life ran out and the three eyed raven could catfish Bran out to his little soul swap location and have a fresh body to be wheeled around while he fishes through time, pulling strings without any oversight. Woof. What a bleak outcome.
I also liked your idea that like, seeing thousands of years of war and bloodshed and crimes against his own kin and family all at once kinda broke him and he’s suppressed his emotions to the point of not feeling any because it’s too much to know everything and also feel it.

Bronn's journey is that of earthly opportunity. Guilds himself through earthly material means, the development of lordship a position not graced by gosmds but by Kings. He's the archetypal image of the upcoming human materialism, how man beats ancestry and godly right to grow their own empire. Something along those lines.... Little finger is another example of this, and just as the story ends we see Bronn picks up the mantle of the little finger.

    • @IngoSchwarze
      @IngoSchwarze Pƙed 4 lety +1

@@JoeMagician Except that Bran lost himself long before he could even get to the place where he could run for king, and that he was always quite sure that he didn't want to become any kind of lord or king, but accepted the destiny as yet another one of his many self-sacrifices because he thinks yet again that the world needs it - whereas Bronn got exactly the kinds of things he wanted, and more of them than he ever dreamt of. Can it be called "winning" if you win something you don't even want, even if many others would want it for themselves and envy you for it? I say winning what you actually want beats that easily. That doesn't mean Bronn will be happy forever, though; but i expect he will be happier than Bran for many years to come, and i also expect Bronn will make more obvious use of his wealth and power. Either way, your analysis is great, as usual!

Maybe it's something nice, like he's gonna make a utopia of harmony between man and nature? Although his willingness to throw people he should care about away for his personal goals is troubling. Maybe a utopia paved with blood.

I have a theory that Bran was the one who made Dany go insane. He can talk to people over time. For the old gods to win Dany had to go insane and burn everything.

It's certainly out there that the whispers Targaryens hear aren't destiny but the people connected to trees. There's no telling where those visions come from, and it's hinted they can be faked.

Sounds like fan fiction. When will you Targaryen stans realize that Daenerys is seriously messed up especially in the books.
Like her father, she burns people because it makes her feel powerful.
Do not look for conspiracy to explain plain evil.

Great choice for King. Bran is powerful, and delegation to those he trusts is how one rules effectively. No reason why he wouldn’t be a great ruler. Gotta love those old Celts.

You shouldn't say "I think" as if it's your idea.
It's a pretty well known pet 'theory'/fan fiction of Targaryen fans who can't accept that their idol is an evil brutal b!tch! 😂
In the books it's way more obvious that she's the Mad King reborn. Burning people makes her feel powerful.
The entire anti-slavery schtick is just to cover up what lies underneath and gives her a plausible sounding pretext for atrocity.
Even the slaves she 'liberated' are suffering from her rule.
If you set a bunch of slaves free and they end up coming back to you begging to be a slave again because life was easier then, you know you've fucked up royally.
