    would love to see a thicker sway bar test, apparently the 330ci m sport II has 24 mm front swaybars vs 23mm non m sport and 20mm rear vs 18mm stock. on the other hand, H&R also sell the anti roll kit which is €500, but it's 27mm front & 21mm rear. From my understanding, this would have a bigger impact on handling than coilovers, especially when you're running stock m sport suspension.

      I have eibach 30/21 I believe, setup on the softest one I belive, it come with poly bushes. I have full powerflex rear end except swaybar endlinks, and the 2 lower and upper arms. Sport suspension with whatever coils were on there.
      All of this to say that this setup is TBH very uncomfortable. I like the way it drives, 0 body roll on stock suspension, but men its harsh.
      I'd like to try using the harshest settings but idk if I'll feel something if it's not on a racetrack.
      On perfect pavement this car is a blast but on country roads it's as fun as loud and clunky in there.
      I plan to use as much poly as I can, tho.

    Clutch stop is the best drivability mod I've done, I put it off for a long time because I had to modify the clutch switch as I didn't want to delete it. Some e46s have the clutch switch built in the master cylinder but not on mine. Not having to press the clutch all the way and the grab point being so predictable helps a lot and because the car uses a self adjusting pressure plate you never have to worry about the grab point changing in the future 👍

    Huge effort once again from you and a great video. I have two things to add.
    First, rear brace has a great effect on controlling the car when drifting/sliding, especially when combined with poly bushings on the rear subframe and a LSD, of course.
    Second, you can remove the rear seat backs, about 11kg., with only one bolt, torx 40 if I remember well, and the lower seat itself just pops out but is very light, like 3-4 kilos.

      The stock battery is pretty heavy. I replaced it with a motorcycle battery, which removed about 28 lb (12.7 kg). But of course, the smaller battery has less capacity. For me, it wasn't an issue because my E46 isn't a daily driver.

      @@PREDATEURLT Unfortunately (or better: fortunately) those don't weight much.
      The front seats however are the worst.
      A sunroof delete can also save a couple kg at the right places (especially if the whole roof is replaced by carbon fiber). That's quite an operation and might "ruin" the car. However, a carbon fiber trunk might be worth investigating.

    Great video! I've done the braided stainless brake hoses on several cars. And I agree, it doesn't affect braking performance much. But it does improve the pedal feel. And that can make you feel more confident while driving.
    Regarding the clutch stop, it can be helpful if you're using a "clutch tamer" device. It makes the clutch tamer more consistent. Great for racing, but not very useful for street driving.

    I'm pretty sure, oem brake lines are steel with rubber coating. One befit of aftermarket steel brake lines is price. They wre often cheaper than oem.
    Strut brace test drive really should be a blind test. Have a friend install and remove the strut brace for several test drives and try to guess which time the brace was installed. Placebo is a powerful drug!
    Weight removal makes the car not only accelerate better, but also brake, handle and improved fuel efficiency. Losing a lot of weight from a street car is impractical though.

    • @OEMplusRESTO
      @OEMplusRESTO  Před 2 měsíci +2

    The minimal expansion of the brake hoses takes place over the entire length of the hose, times 4. The difference in feel is amplified by the length of the pedal. Just like in a mechanical linkage, minimal play in the fractions of millimeters can add up to significant slop on the user interface side.
    Pretty cool, next time I need hoses I'll give them a try. What kind did you get?

    Interesting to hear a test of braided brake lines done by someone who had properly bled brakes before replacing the lines. Because usually people are replacing hold hoses and probably feeling the fresh bleed rather than the lines.
    My thinking is the touchier brakes is maybe not much the lack of expansion, but a different internal diameter of the hoses

      Also am quite surprised at the results of weight reduction. Makes me wonder if maybe it's more worthy to chase weight than I originally thought.
      Recently I found out through realoem that the M3 CSL uses a smaller 55ah battery from the R52 mini cooper, and if that was considered still good enough for a factory car with a 3.2 and high compression (therefore difficult to crank) that makes you wonder how small you could go and still be viable, especially on our smaller engines.
      Because that means there's like 10 or 15kg to be gained, with no compromise in comfort, and without going to some expensive and fragile race battery.

    • @OEMplusRESTO
      @OEMplusRESTO  Před 2 měsíci

      @imnota im doing research on weight reduction right now. Theres a few batteries to go with it seems. That csl one might be the best suited. But theres also a miata battery among others, before venturing into the expensive lithium ones.. but soon youll run low on cca and they wont be really usable for anything but racing. But just as an experiment of how much weight can be removed without damaging the car. Theres also the m3 hood btw.

But i dont get these ideas until all you guys mention it in the comments:) either way, i only replaced the hose. And the “review” of it is not long because imo it doesnt change much. Yes, the pedal is a bit more firm. But if you dropped your car off for a service at your local garage, then went to pick it up at few days later, i dont think youd notice the difference. The brake hoses you will notice though. More touchy.
