    they are shit, I badly regret letting my mechanic fit these awful shit shocks to my BMW e63, not even 6 months have gone by and less than a 1000 miles and they are already starting to corrode! never been anywhere near the coast or the sea etc but in the city, I only noticed the corrosion when the rear tyres were changed, 'made in Germany' more like made in Afghanistan, do not buy bilstein, I am so *ucked off having been charged a hell of a lot of cash to change all the shocks and springs, I can't even bring myself to look closely at the front shocks

    You found out how to make it sound like a Honda! I kid, mostly, I think some the other commenters are right though. If you did some sound engineering with a shop that was capable, like just running a brass X-Pipe or a resonator as you mentioned in the video it could be epic! Also epically loud...

    I didn't quite understand that. Have you now fitted B6 at the front and B8 at the rear? The B4 damper is the same as the OE damper. It is neither better nor worse. From the B6 damper onwards, Bilstein uses better and higher quality technology, which is identical from the B6 to the B16, except that from the B14 onwards it is coilover suspension. I have installed the complete B12 suspension in my BMW 650i and I can say from my own experience that the car drives much better, quieter and more stable at top speed (German Autobahn) than in comparison to the standard suspension. Basically, I don't believe in lowering springs on standard dampers. On the B12, the dampers and springs are matched to each other (B8 = shortened B6).

    • @OEMplusRESTO
      @OEMplusRESTO Před 6 dny

      Hi. B8 front, b6 rear. I agree the b4 mtech is just what the car came equipped with. Likely could habe been sachs as well and i would have reached the same result.

    I noticed less rasp in heavier gauge stainless steel exhausts ages and ages ago, as a kid watching muscle car videos (our market is huge! so finding same brand and design with different quality metal was not hard) so i love that you did this but the end result of it being raspier was what i expected, to be blunt. Not personally a huge fan of excess rasp but there are easier ways to achieve this if its something someone desired, namely you just need a large section of pipe that starts resonating (aka, blank pipe uninhibited by extra supports, muffling, or anything that would weight it down.) Similar but slightly different effect a enlarged diameter exhaust tip can do similar, doesn't have to be a muffler literally just a tip. If you want less rasp and just to try brass you could fit resonators mid-way up after largest connecting point near headers, thats cheapest easiest anti-rasp method i know but rare to find since it requires more fab then just sticking resonators at butt end of exhaust when it comes to DiY builds. I like "Bullet" style mufflers for this approach, but all that would have to be made out of steel unless you fabbed brass ones, drilled all the holes and packed the matting to replicate one yourself.

    Look up megaphones. Exhaust megaphones. Just seent a video the other day talking about a gradual increase in diameter (megaphone shape) as part of the piping back. Even showed how placing the megaphone pipe in different locations, or distances from heads, offered different sounds. Or really it was pitch. Check the video out.
