Ces deux pianistes ne sont que très difficilement comparables. Quelques idées de comparaison :
    Horowitz VS Richter
    Sofronitsky VS Yudina
Del Puyo VS De Larrocha VS Volodos
    Hoffman VS Friedman VS Moiseiwitsch.

These two pianists are incomparable, similar to asking who is better Gould or Richter? Well Richter's early recording of Liszt's 2nd transcendental etude is unmatched, and perhaps the same could be said of Gould's 1980s Goldberg recording. Having said that, thanks for sharing the beautiful recordings by both. You may enjoy Walter Rummel's Liebestraum.

@@Santosificationable , after listening to a few of your other posts, I'm hoping you could make lists of your favorite recordings. You really selected some gems I had not heard, and nothing is more exciting than after so many years hearing a masterful interpretation that one has overlooked. Thanks.

@@robert982 Glad for your appreciation. I enjoy making these "duel" videos but the point was never to prove a superior pianist, more of just to feature two contrasting styles side-by-side.
My knowledge of great recordings is not really extensive, but I try to dig for some whenever I make these videos. I may make a few more videos in the future. They will feature more music, as you describe. Cheers!

How do U compare two geniuses, two Wunderkinder, each having been apportioned a different body and personality by Providence ?
    What's better,
a Rolls Royce or a Bentley?
A Bentley or a Rolls Royce? Titan Cziffra was both emotionally & physically scarred and hardened by tremendous hardships in life, to wit terrible poverty in his childhood, then physical torture at the hand of Nazis and commies and later the insurmountable emotional pain of the loss of his only beloved son. Maestro Claudio Arrau had a cocooned and pampered life in plenty from cradle to grave, with a major emotional loss of his father figure piano professor. Correct me if I'm wrong.
No one can emulate the peace flowing from Maestro Arrau's Bénédiction de Dieu dans la Solitude, nor His Liszt Sonata, Francis Legend, his grandeur of the Emperor Concerto with Bernard Haitink 1960, on the other hand who can challenge Cziffra's Liszt Rhapsodies, his impetuosity of the Mendelssohn g-minor Concerto, etc etc etc...
What makes Titan Cziffra maybe more interesting was his feeble for jazz, whereas Maestro Arrau never sidetracked from sheet music's straight and narrow... Although I'm sure he could have.

Cziffra is Cziffra Arrau is Arrau. I am fan of both... they are "died" at piano when played from passion like other great musicians.

No puedes comparar.

Fede: Cziffra and Arrau are completely different pianists. Arrau had not the iper-virtuosistic thecnique of Cziffra and Cziffra had not the iper singing sound of Arrau... this is ovbious..... so is unpossible a comparison. You can compare e.g. Cziffra and Clidat or Arrau and Bolet ......

  • @alexkhan2000
    @alexkhan2000 Před 5 lety +7

As Rubinstein felt that Horowitz was the better pianist and he was the better musician, I also have to say that Arrau is the better musician/artist. I don't find Cziffra's playing enjoyable - technically impressive but there's much more to music than that. When listening to Arrau, I always feel like I'm listening to great music more than great playing.

  • @KeineVideos8

But it must be said that, as our colleagues have said, they are two titans of the piano. The interpretation of Arrau on Beethoven with that of Cziffra cannot be compared ... Simply because the latter did not have time to study. If you knew anything about Cziffra then you can talk, otherwise shut up.
