I'm not a collector. I buy watches to wear, and Invicta gives me the opportunity to wear over 30 different kinds of jewelry/art watches each month.

I have some nice understated sub-1K watches from different brands, but I love Invicta exactly for the absurdity of their monstrosities. I even have that very Joker watch in the vid, and wear it regularly without shame. You can't take yourself too seriously in life, and you really can't with one of these things on your arm. The amount of details and the level of attention given them is just insane (yes, it's not A. Lange & Sohne level, but really) It fascinates me that someone would put this much effort into something so out there. And it's just fun to look at.

yes, I think people dont like the gawdy options and I know people complain about how big their watches are. Gawdy joker purple and green and all that - that's a matter of individual tastes. As far as size, for us bigger guys if I wear a standard 40mm watch it looks like I'm wearing a woman's watch - for my size I wear 52mm and it looks right on me

I love my Invicta watches, especially the big, thick ones. It's really a personal preference, but you are right in that you get a lot of watch for your money. There are many Swiss made boutique brands that are really cases of paying just for the brand. So many 'branded' Swiss watches use the venerable 7750 calibre movement which isn't exactly a high end engine. It's refreshing to hear some positive reviews on the Invicta brand. Great presentation!

I am 64 years old...and up until I found Invicta about 13 years ago, I had 3...maybe 4 watches that were nice, dress watches...mostly Bulova's and one nice German brand....which has one of the nicest grey dials I have ever seen. I really need to get a new strap for it! The rest of my watch collection consisted of Timex Explorer's and G-Shocks....oh...a digital watch that was for playing golf. I kept my score, fairways hit, Greens in Regulation, and putts. ( I worked at a Golf Pro Shop and played at least 18 holes every morning...and sometimes in the afternoon if I got off work before 3 pm.
I saw a late night "Watch Program" on Shop&#C and I liked some of the watches...especially the larger ones! Oh...I may have played golf, but most of the guys I knew, well, they knew me from playing football at the local Div 1 College...and mainly because of my gruesome leg injury that ended my playing days. I was an Offensive Lineman, right tackle. So...I have never been a small guy...even at a young age I was the tallest in my class. I have a 23 cm wrist....basically, 9 inches. Across the top of my wrist, it's 70 mm....so, there really isn't a watch that won't fit me. But...having a flat wrist, the Venom series watches don't fit...in fact they are very uncomfortable. My only Bolt is the original version...all orange...which I love since the main color of my University is Orange!
I can say, I have over 40 Invictas, my favorites are my Automatic 47 mm Grand Divers / Scubas. I have one of the original Sea Spiders, and one of the second general Sea Spiders....really nice. I also have one of their very hard to find Yachting Timer watches. It's a quartz and looks great. And yeah...screw down crown, 200 m WR! I also have one of the Ocean Speedways....gold and battleship grey two tone! Gorgeous watch!
Oh...as for the crazy looking watches that are Sponge Bob and other cartoon/graffiti watches...some of the big watch manufacturers have come out with their own versions and charging close to 5 figures for them!! Who would have thought it...huh!!
    Nice channel...new subscriber!!

I have several Invictas, one that is 10 years old, and one that's almost 14. Great brand if you know how to choose a good one. I do wish they were more consistent. Try to find another brand offering an 18k gold master calendar 1000m dive watch for 300 bucks that can take all the salt water and punishment you can throw at it for ten years, and still look new and keep perfect time. I think the haters resent the fact that so many people love big watches with personality.

I have several Invictas. There doesn't seem to be another brand who is making automatic watches for my segment of the market. I am as choosy with those watches as I am with any item, looking for value for money and keeping total cost down. Almost all of them have the NH35A movement of which most people approve as long as it's in a microbrand. I'm not sure why it should be less desirable because it's in an Invicta.

  • @angustungsten2687
    @angustungsten2687 Před rokem +2

Yes - Invicta is guilty of the horological atrocities you pointed out, but there is a genuine reason for their production (think Waterbury Clock Co's 1933 Mickey Mouse watch). To survive and thrive in today's highly competitive wristwatch market without the pedigree of Audemars Piquet or Patek Phillipe one must think outside the box of conventional style and embrace the BIG picture - given the success of the Batman franchise, who's to say that watch won't be the next Mickey Mouse? (That watch saved the co. that later became world renowned as TIMEX) And for those that think all Invictas are merely cheap trash, the company did manage to win the prestigious 2016 Red Dot German Design Award for engineering excellence against all other global competitors with their Sub-Aqua NOMA V (no small feat).
    PS
The reason Invicta "homage" watches are emblazoned with their name etched into the case was the result of a copyright infringement lawsuit levelled by Rolex in which the court allowed Invicta to continue production as long as their watches were easily distinguishable from Rolex...

Somewhat straight take on the brand, although no need to re-hash the tired hate tropes. Obviously they move a lot of inventory and tons of positive feedback. Not everybody likes a tiny three hander, let alone one that costs eight grand or more. One can follow the herd, or buy what you like. Not interested in what other people think about my wrist decor.
For value and unique designs, still nobody doing what Invicta does. It's the brand that kicked off the watch hobby for me, nearly 20 years ago now. Have nearly 550 watches now, from gems on AliEx, to Invicta, and to Swiss traditional stuff for a few grand each. Haven't seen any point spending more than that, for a watch.
If I was a billionaire, I'd buy the big wild stuff that costs into the millions, so I appreciate Invicta's design approach. And, their prices are hilariously affordable, and, as far as quality control, I've been stung far more often with Swiss "respected" brands, lol, than with Invicta. Don't even get me started on problems with Seiko, although I have a bunch of those as well.
It's really something to where people should just buy what they like, and not worry about it. The only wrong way to buy watches is trying to please others. My money, my wrist. I buy what I like.

Let's be honest almost everything that we buy, companies overprice their stuff to offer a "discount." That's what marketing is, you make something appealing so people will buy it. Then you make them think they are getting a deal.

My last Invicta sold a while ago. I have been done with that brand for years now. Invicta has no warranty and even the movements are a fight to get fixed. There are better alternatives made by the same Chinese companies Invicta employs. Get a San Martin, Sugess or many other brands from China that produce a watch 10 times the quality for half or more the price of an Invicta.

Invicta have a niche market and rabid fan base .. what other watch brand can fill a whole cruise ship with watch fans with the whole theme of the cruise about the watches.
They don't offer the best spec money for money products but their niche is in their designs. I can understand why they have no money income stream issues.
As for their 'heritage' it has little to nothing to do with the current company.

What turned me off to them is the MSRPS on their cable commercials that are 5 times their actual price. If you want me to buy your product don't insult my intelligence when you give me the sales pitch. The divers are decent. The rest are crass Stars Wars wall clocks for the tasteless. Invicta might as well sell steroids for body builders with their watches.

The indicts stamp on the “homage” submariner couldn’t be left off. Rolex made them do that because of fear that the Invicta sub mariner knick off would be used on legit Rolex sub knock offs. So yes it’s overkill but they were required to do it. Indicts overall is a pretty horrible watch brand. They deserve the hate they get. If you wanna wear cheaper watches wear Seiko, Casio G shock, or Timex expeditions. Don’t dirty your wrist up with an invicta.
