I think the watch snobs are just miffed because a company can produce a nice quality, stylish watch for around $100 and these same people spent 6 months worth of mortgage payments to slap something on their wrist to impress others who simply couldn't give a sh*t! I never considered buying an Invicta. Just bored and scrolling through the website one day I realized just how many mind boggling designs they have that no one else even comes close to. Even the most abhorrent models could look good on some people with certain wardrobes. I decided to try a 50mm black sea spider based model 26749 Marvel Black Panther for 80 bucks just to see for myself. IMHO it really is a good looking watch. All the functions work perfectly. The case and dial finishing are really quite impressive and the band is cool AF. I set the Hattori Seiko quartz movement the day it was received to the online Atomic Clock. It is now one year later and is only off maybe 2 or 3 seconds. Sure It doesn't have hacking, a real chrono second hand, no month tracking for the date, and the clasp is a little tinny, but what can you really expect for 80 whole dollars. It's a very big and heavy watch that felt awkward in the beginning, but only took about a month or so to get used to. This watch taught me that I like em big. I still wear it nearly everyday and I absolutely love it, How do they do it? Amazing!

The higher end Swiss autos sell out quick when they are introduced outfitted with one. They are fun for the most part and some have outstanding craftsmanship, but those are more in the $1,000 Swiss auto/sapphire crystal category. Personally, after having a Rolex and Omega I have gone years without owning an Invicta. I couldn’t find a reasons to replace what I truly love on wrist for a typical Invicta. I'm always reading about how poor Invicta quality is on forums etc, but I don't think these posts are being made by people who actually own Invicta watches.
I agree that their marketing strategy and many of their models are rather tasteless, but I have been wearing Pro Divers since 2000 and they are great watches.
I first bought an 8926OB because I couldn't afford a Submariner. When I finally owned a Submariner, I still wore my Invicta as a 'stunt double' for situations where it would not be prudent to wear a Rolex.
That first one lasted ten years, and only died when my girlfriend at the time wore it in the bath with the crown pulled out.
I immediately replaced it, and this one is still working perfectly another ten years later.

Thanks for the correction that some are indeed Swiss made. Years back they started stating Swiss Movement, or removing Swiss references entirely. I have a few with genuine sapphire, ETA movements, Selitta as well. Glad to see someone understands their success. Their lume still sucks and still some QC issues, but they still own the market on innovative designs at very low prices. As for watch size, tiny case lovers are just biased, lol. Lots of elite brands have large cases. Plenty of folks, myself included, can appreciate Invicta alongside other offerings, so it's not a case of either being a dedicated fan or a snobby hater. And many, like me, would rather spread fifty or sixty grand over a large range of watches, rather than only have two or five watches to wear. Among my several hundred watches, I have well over 30 different brands, from one time Micro releases, to Swatch Group brands, on up to Oris, Breitling, and more. Like a lot of watch enthusiasts, I started with Invicta and learned as I went along. Nice to see someone able to give credit where credit is due. Well done! 👍👍👍

@@whatsonthewrist Yup, agreed, and this is one of the most refreshing looks at Invicta I've seen on YT. I actually nearly quit the hobby after running into ridiculous snobbery, years ago. Found a different forum to join, where members could appreciate all enthusiasts, and rediscovered my passion. So, never underestimate your impact, good sir. Honest, unbiased feedback for people trying to learn about watches makes a big difference, which makes your presentation even more valued. I remember getting a Seiko 5, having been told it was the "only" proper entry level automatic, and, geez, my Invictas, for nearly half the cost, cased up the same movement so much better. While their wilder watches get the most attention as a supposedly negative representation of the brand, they have a lot of very tame options as well. I've always raised the same issue to detractors, that, despite negativity within a small circle of people who'd like to think they represent the entire watch world, the reality of Invicta's ongoing business success certainly proves that they're doing something right, despite their imperfections. Again, great video!

Wow, Rich. a great comment! You have touched all the points about Invicta and illustrated it better than most of us could.
And I also agree with you 100%. I am sure that most of micro brand watch companies hate Invicta, but deep down inside, most of them would envy the company "hatefully" & "zealously". As you said, Invicta is playing their own game and let the fans follow their games and also enjoy it as much as they can.
We, a watch aficionados, can hate them as we would like, but at the end, it is a business, a very lucrative one for Invicta, and they are setting their own fashions and trends. And no one has the right to say "it is wrong or right".
Most of us tend to forget that IT IS A BUSINESS and at the end, the brand is most likely to be judged by their financial success and how widely it is being accepted. And Invicta is best at their own games. So far, no others can touch them.
thanks Rich and have a great day.

My personal opinion is that if you get a quality movement in a case and bracelet/band made of quality materials that can be serviced/repaired it qualifies as a good watch. I was a bit put off by Invictas decision a couple of years ago to not sell parts to the general public thus forcing owners to send their watch to them if replacement parts are required. We will just have to see how that plays out over time I guess. Keep up the great work!

I started out with the Doxa orange at $2-3k and arrived at the Invicta orange. The watch undeniably takes several ques from the Seiko pogue but it is entirely it's own watch also. Comes with a decent ss bracelet and will also wear a olive canvas strap. It's a tool watch. One of their watches that arguably crosses over into the conventional watch world. Invicta makes good products. Invicta is one of my favorite brands. I currently own 8 of these, and every one of these has been flawless. I have some premium (37) watches from Seiko, Omega, TAG, and Panerai, yet I find my Invicta, ESQ, and Seiko Titanium on my wrist most of the time. That said, Invicta watches are good, cool, and have excellent reliability. All my Invictas are conservative automatics of less than 47 mm (below $140.00), and all have come from Amazon. I do not go for the huge and crazy-looking watches (I'm older). The company is a bit cheesy and I hate the huge Invicta engraving on the side of the watch. I do not buy watches from TV. I do admire and wonder how they are doing it, I just bought a Titanium Automatic (45mm) for $140.00, which looks like a Rolex yet is light, classy, and well-priced! What's not to like. I think you missed the point by ignoring their conservative, smaller, more normal-looking lines. Focusing on the crazy "retail price" that nobody pays, misses the point of what Invicta is. I don't know how they can make a watch that looks like $1000 for less than $100, and these are solid products, especially automatics IMHO.

As most people are attracted to the aesthetic rather than the name on the dial... 'Yes', some are 'Out there', but those are made for people that want a 'Out there' kinda watch; while the 'Pro Diver' gets the same appeal as a Rolex version would; because again, people are attracted to the aesthetic, not the name on the dial... Decent companies choose not to operate like that. It's sad given the rich horological history of Invicta. Current management really ruined the name Invicta. I do proudly have a Pro Diver Automatic though. Only Invicta I'll ever buy. Great watch for the money. But is it a $200 watch as advertised on their website? Great video, very informative and entertaining, thanks!

o.k. Dude I like you. Really thought out video. but there is one thing that Invicta is doing that no other watchmaker in history has ever done. they are making watches that are formatted for larger people. no other watch company has ever done that. not one. to me { I'm 6'7", 295 lbs with an 8.5 in wrist diameter}, that is amazing. To have a fine watch that is this kewl fit my wrist out of the box is amazing.. no expensive and quite frankly ugly alterations at the jewelers... show me a rolex that will fit my wrist without a horrible bracelet... no other watch company has the the guts to do this...I love my Invictas and my collection continues to grow.

      @whatsonthewrist  Před rokem +1

Hi, sleeplessingc. Good point. I would add that in Invicta’s community, 48mm or 50mm is not targeted towards only larger wrists. It’s pretty much standard size for them. But it certainly is a good thing for those with larger wrists that share your experience.

While I will never own one Invicta ever: unless it's a vintage piece, I have never hate Invicta at all!. I have the impression that it's a very successful business, even more successful than watch brands that I love and respect, and that's something to recognize!. Also I respect more Invicta and its originality, than many brands that rely its success on "homages", brands that watch lovers tend to hype a lot just because they copied a Submariner and made it in Switzerland but hates the cheaper Invicta Submariners! Something that I will never understand!.

It's funny to me what people will call a big watch. I use to collect invicta and after them very few come close in terms of size. But the reason I stopped is you cant wear the majority of the watches year round. Very few could I do during winter but none of my big ones ... above 52mm. At one time I had over 55 but it bothered me I couldn't wear certain models under a long sleeve shirt. Now, I own a handful for personal reasons but dont wear them at all. I am just now seeing your video....excellent presentation! However, I assume you have since realized that your estimation of the investment a couple of Invicta collectors have made was off a decimal point? My personal investment is one....watch, that is...model #2176 Objet d' art, automatic with hand winding and hacking, 40 hr power reserve, date, and 24 hr windows, tonneau shaped...I absolutely love it...44 mm case. Only problem was 4 of the numbers fell off inside soon after purchasing it on Ebay. I had to have a jeweler reattach them on the beautiful white/silver etched dial. He only charged me $5/number. No regrets.
