    Love this. I got my 8926 with the coin edge bezel in early 2009. I was in the Navy, deployed to Iraq with my Marines and my Casio Gshock LCD stopped working from the heat I guess. I dug my invicta prodiver from my pack and wore it. Broke the band and put it on a NAR turniquette and wore it the rest of the deployment. Chipped the cyclops, scratched the hell out of it worked flawlesly. Here we are, 14 years later and I still put it on and take it out for a good beating.

    People can be snobs if they want, but my Invicta Pro Diver is probably the BEST VALUE of the 36 watches I own. If you think their huge, garish watches are tacky, don't buy them! Apparently, somebody buys them. Difficult to imagine, but yes...

      No such thing as a watch snob, everyone has different opinions on watch's, differing opinions doesn't make you a snob. I have seen low end watch buyers be some of the biggest snobs by putting people down who will only buy high end. Goes both ways. I have watch's from $5k to $30 Casio.

    This is one of the most interesting watch reviews I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched dozens of reviews of a variety of watches, but not one was a LONG term review. Incredible that this cheap, oft maligned Invicta is still giving good service after eighteen years. It just goes to show that when it comes to watches, we pay the high prices for branding, finishing, and design, not durability.

    1. LOVE your channel. 2. About a year ago (ish?) after watching several of your videos, I purchased an Invicta Pro Diver for myself as my first automatic watch. Gotta say, in that year I have been surprised and pleased about its accuracy, and it never fails to garner compliments. And the price was right, too: I caught a huge sale, and got some first time customer coupon and got my Pro Diver shipped for under $50. I couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the info!

    Hello shipmate! Subscriber here. I saw my first Submariner up close in a shop in Hong Kong in 1990. It was around 3K and way out of an E5's budget, but I vowed to have one. I was able to fulfill that dream six months ago with a five digit sub, but it followed an Invicta Pro Diver. I removed the cyclops on the first Invicta because I didn't like it. I purchased a second one recently and left the cyclops because it sorta clones the new-to-me (1999) Submariner. The Pro Diver is my dedicated lawn mowing gardening and anything damaging watch. Cheers and keep up the excellent content!

    Also a military to civilian guy myself, retired Air Force.
    I bought the current Invicta Pro Diver watch last year during a Prime Day special for $59... ridiculously cheap considering that I have straps that cost that much.
    I was quite surprised by the quality for the price. I shook my watch for a week before I discovered that it had hand winding. It also hacks, which is a must have for me. The level of accuracy is equal to or better than many of my multi-hundred dollar watches from the big named companies.
    If I could change one thing, it would be to get rid of that garish "INVICTA" etched into the side... a little too much "look at me" for my taste, but for the price it's a small sacrifice.
    Anyone that laughed at these watches without actually seeing one should do the sub-hundred dollar experiment and own a true no cares adventure watch that you can freely wear in hazardous conditions without fear. I have no regrets from my $60 investment.

    The 40mm Prodiver was available with the coin edge bezel first. It’s an OB after the model number. The pro divers are amazing value. Mine is about 15 years old and the Miyota movement finally died. The 8 series Miyotas are hand winding and as of last year are now hacking. Invicta makes a 40mm PD with a Selita movement and can be found for around $200.

    I purchased my Invicta Pro Diver 5/2003. It has the Miyota 8215. The bezel is 1/2 black and half red. The red portion is anodized and has a great faded patina. The black portion appears to be ceramic and looks new. Recent case back and crown stem "O" rings (greased), and minor speed and beat error adjustments. Has not been serviced since purchase. Still running strong after 31 years.

Rather than clean it up, I decided to just order a new "coin edge" Invicta Pro Diver. I'll eventually repair the case of the old watch and maybe pass it on to one of our grandchildren. I'm 76 years old and the Invicta Pro Diver is the best watch I've ever owned.

    Several years ago, it was extremely difficult to find a better value packed watch under $100. The Chinese have caught up. While these are great, the Invicta 1953 released in 2020 is a better watch. I have both. Despite owning watches that cost a lot more, I will always have one in my collection.

Sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel insert, solid end links, milled deployant clasp. It also uses the same NH35 as the Invicta. I use my $60 G-SHOCK for work but when I get home I enjoy my budget piece of "luxury". Definitely worth setting aside 20 or 30 bucks a week for a month or two. You will appreciate it more.

    Wearing my Pro Diver 8926 (basically the same as yours but with the TMI movement) as I'm watching this. I find it fascinating that this brand has been around since 1837, that's much longer than most swiss brands, preceeding Rolex by 71 years! That alone is reason to proudly wear one of these and not listen to the snobs. Nice relaxed video, yet again.

      The current watch doesn’t resemble the original Invicta. It was bought in the 90s and started pumping out oversized ugly watches. And homages. I’m not hating I own an Invicta 1953

    • @dereinzigeweg
      @dereinzigeweg Před rokem

      @@MrBacchus18But it still is an Invicta. Yes, they produce mostly disgusting pieces nowadays, but their heritage still stands as a testament for good watchmaking. And that goes back almost two centuries. There is a lot more history in Invicta's horology to look back to than current ugly models can ever screw up.

    I think Invicta has a bad rap, but having said that, it really depends upon which model you get. I have owned 3 Invicta watches over the past 15 years, and only one of them was 'decent'. Two of them didn't keep very good time, but the third was as good as my Citizen Eco-Drive and was very pleasing to wear. I do think that some of the Invicta prices are not good value and would suggest today, with so many other equivalent priced watches, to look elsewhere for a diver. Thanks for your review and for sharing your opinion.

      @@cheapwatchman_official If you can find a watchmaker, perhaps a hobbyist that won't charge too much. You get into a situation where many watchmakers will say how much cheaper it would be to just replace the watch. I do understand why you don't want to lose the watch. Subbed.

      @@zumalot how bad is the situation with cheap watch service in the US? In Moscow it'll be about 40-50$ for full repassage (not in a fancy service centre, but still) and nearly anyone won't refuse servicing Seiko, Miyota, Orient movements. Just curious

    • @zumalot
      @zumalot Před rokem +1

      @@thewhalenorman I cannot find a watchmaker in my area except jewelry stores, at least who I would trust breaking down/re-assembling any of my watches. The quick answer is "I don't know". My next service will be headed off to Omega for a "speedy" service. I'm guessing $700-$1000, but have not checked for alternatives. I once trusted a very nice older gentleman, self taught, with a glowing reputation. $250 for a full Rolex DJ service. The watch still runs, but sometimes the stem positions is not exact for manual winding, setting date (quickset). You get what you pay for I suppose. A jewelry store watchmaker charged $750 for another Rolex DJ. $300 for a vintage Seiko with probably a $25 auto movement, but there was sentimental value involved, rare dial..etc. I'll never go back because of a very nice 1966 Breitling Top Time. $800 + given back to me with a big crack on the crystal and he acted like I wasn't going to see it. He did fix it after a few encouraging words from me. One really needs to perform a hard target search within the states for great/cheaper service. Sorry, I'm not much help. Didn't mean to write a book here and thanks for stopping by, friend.

  • @N7492
    @N7492 Před měsícem

    I've been using watches with the NH 35 movement for over 7 months, and during
    that time trying to bring them into COSC (-4 to +6 spd) standards. After
    watching quite a few watchmakers take them and other movements apart and
    reassemble them, I was struck with how similar all of them were. If a Rolex
    could do +/- 2 spd, why not the NH 35? These watchmakers also praise the NH
    35 and other Seiko movements for their excellent durability. So. What have
    I learned?
    With a bit of effort, the NH 35 can be regulated (carefully remove the watch's
    back, and gently move the balance regulating lever by tiny amounts) to close
    to COSC standards. PROVIDED that you've worn the watch for at least a week,
    and noted how much it gains or looses. Then, with a timegrapher (1), you can
    create a fairly accurate watch.
    EXCEPT! The NH 35 had fairly poor isochronous quality. That is, when the
    mainspring is fully wound, the watch runs fast. Unwound, slow. It's also
    susceptible to gaining time when the watch dial is rotated on it's axis. Grab
    the watch by its bracelet, and spin it quickly back and forth for 10 seconds,
    and you'll find the watch has gained a second. Go for a 2 hour walk, swinging
    your arm, and the watch might gain 10 seconds. Sit at your desk all day,
    and the watch looses 2 to 4 seconds.
    Is the cheap but durable NH 35 worth it? Of course, it's up to you. Once you
    know it's foibles, and learn to work with them, I'd say it was. Bang for the
    buck, of course it is!
    1) A Chinese timegrapher can be bought from Ali Express for $130+. Or. You
    can download a timegrapher app for your cell phone. The former is better,
    as the app requires silent surroundings and makes it very awkward to test
    the watch in all 6 positions.

    I recall the very first versions in the late 90s had a regular seconds hand until Invicta received a cease and desist letter from Rolex's attorneys. I like the Pro Diver and unlike many current Submariner microbrands changing 10x the price, the pro diver is still accessible to all budgets. I own two Rolex Submariners and still throw on my Citizen powered 8926ob from time to time.

    They are one of the biggest watch sellers in the world. For the money they simply can't be beaten. Everyone likes to talk about the comically large watches, the whimsical kids watches like "Joker"... They make watches for everyone in every shape and size and price point. I own about 30 of them and they're all great. They also don't gouge people like "luxury" brands do. The only time you should pay a premium for something is if it does something better. Luxury watches don't look better, keep time better... You're paying to have your ego stroked.
