Unseen World is a masterpiece.
Nice list of albums 👌🏻
This year, I've almost only listened to japanese music so my top 5 is somehow biased. I was looking forward to the releases of my favorite metal/rock bands and I wasn't disappointed: Jinjer, Gojira, King Woman, Spiritbox, Mastodon, Knocked Loose, Turnstile...I really enjoyed them but I can't help, I'm keep coming back to the japanese music scene.
My top 5 of 2021:
1) BAND-MAID "Unseen World"
2) Gacharic Spin "Gacharic Spin"
3) HANABIE. "Girl's Reform Manifest”
4) ASTERISM "Guernica"
5) NEMOPHILA "REVIVE"
I couldn't find Sokoninaru's "7 Ultimate Materials" so I've haven't checked it yet but the first single was really promising
Thanks for all of your reactions 🙏🏻
Some great albums on your list bro. I enjoyed all of them but the ones I mentioned in the video were the stand outs for me.
Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year \m/
🤣 I feel like I'm in a similar situation. My top albums have quite a few Japanese artists occupying the spot.
To be fair, the Japanese music scene is fantastic. Band-Maid is awesome and Unseen World is definitely one of my favorites from 2021, haven't listened to the others yet, but I've heard some of Nemophila and Gacharic Spin. Here's some other Japanese music that I loved from 2021:
Significant Point - Into the Storm
Ningen Isu - Kuraku
Saber Tiger - Paragraph V
Damian Hamada's Creatures - Art Museum in Hell
Evil - Possessed by Evil
Love the walking videos, feel like I’m walking with you over the England-shire landscapes. Now I have some music to listen to, thanks mate!
Have a great Christmas and Happy New year Matt
Great list! Nice insights on Mastodon. Totally agree with your analysis.
Cheers Amit and thanks for checking out the video \m/
Loved this 😊👍 Thanks for taking the time and investing energy in sharing your thoughts 🤘🙂
Cheers Gary \m/
Very very strong picks of albums Ben. Some of these are my favourites and I do enjoy a lot of the albums mostly through the second half as I do find it very consistent. Will be sharing my albums list very soon and I do hope you're doing well yourself.
Cheers Greg. I look forward to seeing which albums made your top list \m/
Ever since Hushed and Grim came out I watched every possible review of the album I could, including yours. I wanted to see if I was crazy for feeling the way I felt about it. I quickly learned that no I was not alone, others got totally enthralled and engrossed with it just as I had. And those who didn't like it their first few listens began changing their mind upon subsequent listens.
I'll admit, Dagger, Had it All, and Pain with an Anchor took a minute to grow on me, but after those three songs clicked for me I knew my original view of the album (which was still a 9/10) had to be upped to a 10/10. Beautiful album, possibly the best new music I have listened to in my life, I primarily listen to older stuff rather than the new stuff most bands put out. But not Mastodon, they always deliver.
Great list most of my favourites are there apart from While she sleeps and Architects which would actually be my album of the year.
im looking forward to checking out the ones on your list i have not heard Memoriam & im going to check out at the gates , I was always a massive fan of The Haunted but could never get into at the gates but im going to give this album a go
At the Gates are a pretty awesome band man so let me know what you think of them. I tried the new Architects album but I just couldn't get in with it for some reason.
Have a great Christmas and New Year bro \m/
Great list mate, Gosudar was a constant spin for me. Band came out of nowhere and crushed the competition, although for me Blood Red Throne put out a stronger release. Cool to see another Brit doing the CZcams thing, instant subbed. Cheers from Norfolk 🤘🍻🤘
Cheers bro. I will have to check out Blood Red Throne as well as your channel. I love doom metal and am only just strating to gel with death metal so I think I will learn a lot from your videos \m/
Will def check out your ranking videos....been getting into Mastadon recently and Devin Townsend will be an education for me....only have 2 of his albums...nice list! I feel guilty now my no.11 is your no.1....but I did give it almost perfect score. My no.1 was The Raging River by Cult of Luna ❤️🔥 ....it's gorgeously hypnotic....happy new year🥳
The Devin ranking will take me a while to do for sure. Lot of albums on that one but it should be a lot of fun.
I will have to check out The Raging River. Always good to hear new tunes.
Happy new year my friend 🤘😊🤘
The Thralls lads do great videos, really enjoy their channel.
Some good albums I liked for this year:
Cannibal corpse
Carcass
200 stab wounds
Frozen soul ( basically bolt thrower ).
Happy Christmas my man & look forward to many more videos from you in 22.
Cheers bro. Have a great Christmas and a happy new year \m/
Damn, i missed this channel because i couldn't get into my old account anymore :/ And now i see your favourite albums and nothing changed. Nearly every album is on my list too. I hope for a better year next time too :)
Cheers man. You haven't missed much to be fair as I have only started doing videos again recently \m/
Good to see you back brother! Cannibal stuck to my number 1 spot this year. Not too surprising as a diehard fan, it's probably their strongest since Kill. Like you Hushed and Grim has been creeping up higher. Emperor of Sand was the same way, going from a bit disappointed on first listen to amazed later on. Two others that impressed me from 2021 are Wolves in the Throne Room and Exodus.
Great to be back my friend. I keep meaning to check out the new Exodus album and I will have to give Wolves a listen as well.
Happy to see band maid make the list with all those other solid bands.
Thanks for the list Man! Here's my top 20 Albums Of 2021. Have a great day bro!
1. Ice Nine Kills - The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood
2. Between The Buried And Me - Colors II
3. Slaughter To Prevail - Kostolom
4. Every Time I Die - Radical
5. Alluvial - Sarcoma
6. Bad Wolves - Dear Monsters
7. Turnstile - Glow On
8. Spiritbox - Eternal Blue
9. Tetrarch - Unstable
10. Don Broco - Amazing Things
11. Employed To Serve - Conquering

16. Gojira - Fortitude
17. Trivium - In The Court Of The Dragon
18. Mastodon - Hushed And Grim
19. Cannibal Corpse - Violence Unimagined
20. Converge Bloodmoon: I
Great list bro. I have to check out Unto Others. I have heard them mentioned a lot lately 🤘
Unseen world is the masterpiece of the century!
Great video of course and great to see you out and about again. I wonder how well your classic album reviews do, as I can understand your points re new albums. Do they fair better?
As for albums of the year whilst you've gone heavier, I've on the whole gone elsewhere so our lists have nothing matching. My top 5:
1. Littls Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert: Extrodinairy diverse and interesting rap album with thoughtful lyrics and really good music behind it.
2. Arab Strap - As Days Get Dark: These are some of the greatest stories ever told to music. Dark, seedy, real and the music behind it offsets the themes perfectly. Fable of the Urban Fox might be song of the year.
3. Wolf Alice - Blue Weekend: I think the melodies are so strong and beautiful on this record I just can't help but love it. The album grows the more you listen and gets stronger as you go deeper into it. I was surprised at how much I ended up loving this.
4. Urne - Serpent & Spirit: For a debut album this is incredible. It might not be new in terms of what they do but they do it so well it sounds exciting. The one metal album that truly blew me away... I know I've recommended them a lot already but if you're a Mastadon fan, I can't see how you won't enjoy this album. Like Wolf Alice, repeated listens bring reward.
5. Sons of Kemet - Black To The Future: Instrumental jazz on the whole but with some words here and there. Not sure I could do it justice by describing it, just really interesting and great arrangements by excellent musicians.
Here's to a new year and lots more exciting videos from yourself.
Cheers bro. The classic reviews don't really do that great either but at least I can do then in my own time.
That's a cool list of music you've got there mate. I keep meaning to check out Little Simz as I have heard so many people at work mention her.
Hope you had an amazing time at the Metallica shows and have a great Christmas and New Year man \m/
@@freetobewhoibe Little Simz was a great recommendation I got, she really stepped up to another level for this album.
Metallica shows were great. Fixxxer, Shortest Straw, Trapped Under Ice, I Dissapear, Bleeding Me, Dirty Window, Wasting My Hate, Whiplash and No Leaf Clover were some of the rarer songs banged out that made the trip worthwhile (along with a chance to see San Fran again of course).
A lot of my favourites from this year included a few that I haven't heard and need to check out.
Have you listened to Rivers of Nihil -The Work? It's a one that gets better the more you listen to it.
Great to have you back in the country side.
Cheers man. I have heard the new Rivers of Nihil but unfortunately I only heard it recently. Like you say, it gets better with each listen and I didn't get a chance to fully digest it before the video
Let the walking begin
Cheers bro
@@freetobewhoibe i dont get hate for Defheaven i enjoyed it , did not make my top 30 but very solid. This year had so much good music, hard to do a list. That Mastodon album is very good but yes it a grower, it made my top 10.
Band-maid Unseen world outstanding 🤘🎎🤘🎎
The Wildhearts are the most underrated band of all time. The new album is fantastic and ginger is a genius.
Agreed
11:18 BAND-MAID Unseen World mentioned
Yeeeaaaaaa boy. Glad you’re walking again. Must admit I don’t care for your reaction videos. Nothing wrong with them pal, top quality for reaction videos for sure. Reaction videos are just not for me. Having said that it’s done your viewing figures a world of good so rock on dude and fair play to that. Hope you appreciate my honesty.
Merry Christmas man!!
All good bro. You'll be pleased to hear I will be doing more walking videos from now on.
Have a great Christmas and a Happy New year man 🤘
@@freetobewhoibe just so you know dude cos it’s important I say this. I will always thumb up your videos cos even if it’s a reaction one I don’t particularly care for I want you to be watched by the wider audience as possible because I believe you deserve it. You are well thought through, well articulated, good comedic value and seem like a genuine non pretentious bloke….and all those things are deserving of attention.
Thanks a lot for that man. I know that you have supported the channel for a long time. It's genuinely appreciated bro 🤘
I was left a little disappointed with both Gojira's and Mastodon's albums this year. They were both solid albums, but not my favorite from either band. Unseen World has to be my pick for best this year. It's not my favorite Band-Maid album, but holy cow do they do some cool and intricate stuff on this album. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅🤶❄
This year was great for metal,
Some of my favorites were the new ones from:
Malignant Altar
Morgal
Grave miasma
Volbeat
Stormkeep
Funeral Mist
Malgoth
Fustilarian
Clandestine Blaze
Esoctrilihum
Hopefully next year is just as good!
Cheers Jake. Quite a few on your list that I haven't heard so I will check those out \m/
Btw dude the new Jerry Cantrell album is damn good man. Check that one out.
Will do
Is it me or does the beginning of the song Gigantium sound like Still Remains by Stone Temple Pilots?
Nemophila-Revive, and Band Make-unseen world. Lovebites and Evergrey .
Unseen World I can see, even of I'm not that big on Band-Maid. Good band, but there is nothing too special about them. Revive though? Nemophila are talented and their musicianship is solid, but their songwriting still has a lot of room to improve. It's not an album, but an EP rather, but check out Lovebites's Glory, Glory to the World for superior musicianship and far more sophisticated songwriting. It is rightfully one of the most well-liked EPs of the year. Solid list overall though.
Thanks for the great video.
Check out my album of the Year Green Lung “Black Harvest”: imagine Early 70s Black Sabbath mixed with Ghost and bits of Type Negative and 70s classic prog
Sea of tranquility is also a great channel…
I'll check that out Mark. I have watched a lot of videos from Sea of Tranquility. Awesome channel
