- Due to lack of time I didn't get a chance to do reviews this weekend so I have condensed it all into one action-packed review. In this video I give my thoughts on Korn's latest album "Requiem", followed by Venom Prison's "Erebos" and finally the latest E.P. from Abysmal Dawn with "Nightmare Frontier".
Enjoy!
00:00 - Intro
02:05 - Korn - Requiem
07:47 - Venom Prison - Erebos
13:25 - Abysmal Dawn - Nightmare Frontier
16:33 - What’s next? - Hudba
Great to have you back, loved the intro and outro!
Cheers mate
NIce reviews fella. Never really got into Korn. But that Venom Prison album is really something special isn't it? If you get the chance to see them live, they are immense. Keep up the great work. S.
Cheers Steve. Will definitely check out Venom Prison live as soon as I can
Glad to have you back. New korn is quite forgettable its just an ok album, korn on auto pilot a step down from the nothing for me.Venom prison is amazing. You should check out latest from Rolo Tomassi
Cheers man. Venom Prison are fantastic and I loved the new album. I'll definitely check out Rolo Tomassi soon
I suggest that you review Rolo Tomassi's new album. Sickest release!
If you still have some love for Korn, check the live show they did for the new album... it has an acoustic set at the start with a choir and further instrumentation and then they played most of the songs of the new album. Loved it and got me pumped to hear REQUIEM. I have enjoyed it and made me go back to them and check their classic albums. I find Requiem having similarities to Untouchables rather than Issues. I think its short and straightforward. Thanks for coming back and reviewing albums... shall check Venom Prison on your recommendation. CHEERS 👊🏼!
By the way, I'm pretty excited for new Zeal & Ardor album... and I've been into Cult of Luna for a long time now, its kinda Post Metal (inspired by isis and Neurosis)... you are gonna love it!
Cheers bro. Definitely recommend Venom Prison. That album is awesome. Some great stuff coming out this weekend as well 🤘
Gonna do my best to review the new Zeal & Ardor. I love what I've heard so far. Gonna try and review Cult of Luna as well 🤘
Looking forward to venom prison and abysmal dawn are excellent. Can't beat candlemass either
Highly recommend Venom Prison. Such a great album
I was a little let down by the new Venom Prison mostly because Samsara was an easy top ten of the year for me, and this leans more into melodeath than the more unhinged Misery Index type thing they were doing before. It's solid and the band is fantastic, but Erebos felt more like a band trying new ideas and not really nailing all of them in contrast to the dialed in insanity of the first album.
Still solid album and your review is good, I just wish it was a more focused album.
I always try to give Korn a chance since they were one of those bands that were really formative for me, but I just don't think they've had any of what made them special since Issues which, at times for me, may be their best album. (It fluctuates xD)
Another commenter kinda hit the nail on the head with the Korn album in that to me anyway, it felt like a band covering Korn. The songwriting just felt the least inspired I've heard Korn in a while, and as someone like you, who only enjoyed Korn up until Issues, I've heard some REAL uninspired Korn before.
The mastering/mix of this album is also brickwalled to hell and back. Songwriting aside the album just sounds so crushed and destroyed with compression that there's no real character to any of the instrumentation. The drums are almost completely lost any time the over-saturated guitars kick in.
I kinda still feel the most exciting Korn-adjacent thing released in a while was the Jonathan Davis solo album a few years ago.
Completely agree with you about Johnathan Davis' solo album. I really enjoyed that one. Some great songs on there 🤘
Is it just me, or does Reqiuem sound like a band covering Korn?? Man it’s a letdown. The drums sound terrible throughout and Jon Davis write lyrics like he’s trying to parody himself
Fair enough bro. I enjoyed some of it but I doubt I'll listen to it much after. A ton of great albums coming out this weekend though 🤘
