  • I think we found our new LOVE! I haven't stayed at Port Orleans in over 10 years and I must say, I think it's one of my favorites now. We checked in, checked out our AWESOME room and walked around the resort. We also talk about what these Magic Bands are capable of and how the refillable mug works.

    We were there 2 years ago. I never even noticed the big fans, let alone the hidden Mickeys on them! It is such a beautiful resort, though. We stayed in one of the Magnolia Bend rooms, and we even got a free upgrade to the Royal Room (Lots of Princess decor and the fireworks on the headboards!) for being chosen as the Royal Family of the Day! We would love to stay here again, but our family is growing, and I don't mean in number! If we could afford two adjoining rooms in a moderate, we would stay here again.

    We just got back from there. This was our first time staying in a moderate resort. I loved it!!! The Port Orleans Riverside was great for our family of 5. I loved that they had that extra bed space instead of having to try and squeeze in a cot and you are totally right they rooms were very spacious. We were also in Alligator Bayou but in building 36, it was a total of about 600 steps to the food court one way. :) My trusty fit bit got a good workout!

    12:15 "You can't read a map" LOL - Sounds like a familiar conversation. Great vid. We went here on our honeymoon in '02 (right after they changed the name to Riverside) and never cared to come back because the AB was too far from everything and seemed too rustic. The Mansion rooms seemed so much more classy. But being that a room at AB has 5 beds, that fits our family and budget, so....we'll probably be back the next time we ditch Disneyland for WDW.

    • @NeverlandFamily
      @NeverlandFamily  Před 8 lety

      Lol we bust on each other so much. Keeps things fun! The Alligator Bayou seemed far at first but then when we walked around, it wasn't that bad. And it was nice and quiet. The 5th bed was great to have!

    Port Orleans was the first official WDW resort I stayed at back in 92, and after staying at many others, we returned last year... and had a pretty bad experience! I much prefer the Coronado Springs in the moderate class. But, I'm glad you had a good time!

    • @VeryunOfficialTravelGuides
      @VeryunOfficialTravelGuides Před 8 lety

      I think Coronado is the best moderate resort for adults traveling with no kids, (which I know is not you), because of the more "grown-up" feeling and the full bar area.

    • @NeverlandFamily
      @NeverlandFamily  Před 8 lety

      +Very unOfficial Travel Guides i think I was a teen last time we stayed there. I definitely would like to go back and check out these bars lol

    • @VeryunOfficialTravelGuides
      @VeryunOfficialTravelGuides Před 8 lety +1

      I know you can get an adult beverage at the other moderates as well, but the Coronado has like a REAL bar with real bar tenders that can make basically anything, and without corny piano players or balloon animal makers. I'm totally not against those things, but it is also nice to have a few minutes at Disney where you feel like a grown up again :-)

I like the renovations to the rooms, our youngest (10 now) was only 1 and had to sleep on the floor trundle. Staying there December this year. We have gained a son-in-law since then and will have two rooms. Our daughter can't wait to show him all things Disney (his first time)! Thanks for making these videos!

    • @NeverlandFamily
      @NeverlandFamily  Před 8 lety

      Since we are Florida residence and pass holders, we get those discounts but there are cheaper rates on hotels during the value season. We have found the lower rates are anywhere from end of Aug through Sept and January through Feb. I also did a video on using the bounce back offer before you check out to get a good discount.

    I just watched your money saving tip. We go back every yr and never take that offer up. There always seems to be a saving on the room when we book for Riverside, usually about 25% What exactly was your savings if you don't mind me asking?

    • @NeverlandFamily
      @NeverlandFamily  Před 8 lety +1

      @NeverlandFamily  Před 7 lety +1

      Better late than never LOL Yes the pull down should work for her. I tried it out in my Check-in to Caribbean video just so you all could get an idea of the size of it compared to an adult. I am 5ft 4'' and I could fit on it.... maybe not sleep comfortably all night on it tho lol

      Hmmmm this is so hard... I have to do top 5 because Disney themes their resort so well that it's hard to choose lol
      5. Pop Resort (value)
      4. Coronado Springs (moderate)
      3. Port Orleans Riverside (moderate)
      2. Fort Wilderness Cabins (higher priced moderate) but you get a cabin with a lot of room!!
      1. Bay Lake at Contemporary Resort (Deluxe but we rent DVC points to stay there)
      Some of the others that we really enjoy are Boardwalk and Beach Club. The Beach club has the BEST pool on Disney property.

      I'm 5'4 and my feet were hanging off. Sleeping curled up, you can probably get away with but I don't think it would be the most comfortable. I think it's meant for a family of 5 or 6 where the kids can take the bed and Murphy.

    Just changed our reservation to this hotel! I'm so excited! One question though; from what I saw in your video, the lobby is separate from the actual rooms? Like reaaaaally separate, from how your drive went? My first stay at a Disney resort was at the All Star Movie, and the rooms were right behind the lobby, walking distances at least. I'm just wondering, if it is driving distance, do they have buses for that? And are the buses that take you to the parks only available by the lobby? I hope these questions made sense... I see you guys had a map too. Can I find one online so I can plan ahead of time? I like planning ahead, so I know my way and am not confused. Thank you!

      +XMyChemx4xLifex Hi there! Yes the lobby is separate from the rooms however, it is walking distance from your room to the lobby/food court. It's a bigger resort than All Stars. The drive from the lobby to our building was only about a minute.
      They have separate bus depots for your designated building to take you to the parks, Disney Springs and the water parks so there is no need to have to walk up to the lobby to catch a bus. But there is also a bus depot at the lobby.
      You sound like me when it comes to planning ahead LOL You can definitely find a map on GOOGLE. I do this all the time... even tho we should know where we are going lol Just a warning, the map makes the resort look GINORMOUS and super spread out but the walks to the pool and lobby from the Alligator Bayou was only about a 5 minute walk. I hope this helped you =) Have a WONDERFUL time!

      +Joel Ruiz Ellie is 3 years old. Your daughter will LOVE it at Disney. We have been taking her since she was an infant. She started really having fun and "understanding" around 1.5 years old. I hope this helps =)

      +FitDisney Mom thank you for responding, it was helpful! We took our daughter to Disneyland for Halloween this year when she was 3 months old. We definitely plan to take her to Disney World either when she is 2 or 3 years old. I'm wanting to wait until she is 3 so hopefully the new Star Wars and Toy Story worlds are open.

      +Joel Ruiz Oh how much fun! I can't wait for the Toy Story Land to open up. I am hearing it will be another 5 years or so for the completion of both lands :(
