Nailed it, dude! Thanks for the support :) 🙏
Argh!! Starstruck. Always happy to support amazing Aussie artists. You guys are incredible. I’ll be at the Metro Social June 23 further showing my support!
Best of luck and you guys deserve every success!
I fecking ❤ love u guys after seeing eurovision. EASILY THE BEST SONG. Totally eurovision but also seriously good songwriters, performers and musicians. Love watching your interviews as well lovely people X
You guys were my 20 votes for the final and I'm super pissed that the televote points were so little.
Your song has been playing on repeat for days now and I'm glad that I got to discover the band through Eurovision!
- A (now) hardcore fan from the United Arab Emirates
Alex, your vocals are absolutely everything on this track. Complementing Danny so well and lifting the end into the goddamn stratosphere. This song is a monster. Fair to say I'm obsessed. Can't wait for the album. All five of you poured so much creativity and heart into this; so many surprises, so many shifts in tone and feel, and yet it all WORKS. Yeah, yeah, I'm fanboying.
Congratulations! Love it! 12 points from Norway 🇳🇴
My number 2 this year just becouse spain makes me emotional
top 10 material here for sure!
with 💛💙from Ukraine (=
Absolutely one of the best and a big favs. Cannot wait for the last half of the song live in Liverpool - imagine the guitar solo in the middle of that stadium in Liverpool!!
It'll be incredible!! Unfortunately I believe the rules are still instruments cannot be played live, so unless that has changed, it'll be a fake guitar solo :(
God, this is a good song! As a Finn, this is probably the one I will vote for.
As a swede, they got my vote.
I still adore Lordi hard rock hallelujah
I love seeing you geek out for your home country.
Such a great song!
This one and Finland are my favourite songs this year. The drops in this song are IMMENSE! LOVE IT.
My favourite song by far, and gets better with repeated listening - loved watching your reactions, they were so cute!!
My winners this year, from Italy ❤
I love watching breakdowns like this, because yes THE COMPOSITION THOUGH! Like it's structured to be absolutely PHENOMENAL when done live, Liverpool is going to erupt!
I think it's called a 'tierce de picardie' when a major chord ends what was a minor progression. Btw Voyager is in the Grand Final- YAY!!!!! SO GOOD!!
I love, love, love this song very much
it's my favorite and they are going to just smash it live.........
Great reaction. I adore this song. This is THE best song in Eurovision. Normally, I really like at least three or four songs every year. This year, this was the only one for me. You're the first I've seen to compliment the vocals. The vocals are fantastic.
Since Australia entered the contest, you've pushed the bar up for everyone and the competition has really benefited from it IMO. Voyager were one of my favourite bands before the contest so I am totally biased and I was pretty gutted Dreamer wasn't sent last year. This track is awesome and I love your reaction. I got emotional watching you getting the exact same bits that made me have a jaw drop too. That high note that most other reviewers talk over is just... Ah so awesome! I'll be voting in the semi final and final since the UK can vote in semi final 2 ^_^
Ahh that high note. So unexpected but so impressive.
Thank you for your kind words. I too was gutted about dreamer. I watched australia decides and didn’t know what the juries were thinking!!!
I guess the good that came out of it was we wouldn’t have gotten this amazing track thrusted onto the world stage if Dreamer were sent. Dare I say, this one is even better than Dreamer!
I’ll be seeing them live in June and am really excited. Yesterday, Alex Canion, bassist and amazing “Cross my heart 'til the sky turns red in the sunrise” vocalist commented on my video!! I took me by surprise!! I had to pin it!
Anyway, thanks for the engagement and taking the time to watch.
@@TheMuserResolute I think it's so unexpected that other reactions I've watched have spoken over the top and missed it, which is sad because it's epic! And of course is that grown and that drop!
I watched Australia Decides too for two years because I heard Voyager had put forward Runaway the year before and it didn't make the top 10 for the public to vote for it.
I think Dreamer would have really broken up all the ballads last year and blown people away so Australia missed out there. Sheldon had a great voice but it wasn't one of my favourites in the end.
Ah I'm so jealous. I'm waiting for the world tour so they can hit Scotland and I can finally see them since becoming a fan a few years ago.
Haha, I saw Alex had commented. They seem like a great bunch.
I've started watching your other reactions too (and subscribed) so you'll probably find I've left lots of comments by the time you check again at a reasonable time of day in Australia.
Best of luck with your channel and thank you for picking out my favourite bits of this amazing track too! 😁
I’m still awake 😆! Thank you for taking the time to watch and engage. It means a lot. Take care!
Man, I am so glad the algorithm did its job and recommended your channel to me again after I was clearly stupid and didn't subscribe after enjoying your 2022 ESC reactions last year. Fixed that now! Anywho, loving Australia this year. For some odd reason I only listened to the short snippet used in the all songs collection for weeks and only somewhat recently listened to the whole thing. I've been playing the crap out of this one ever since and feel like I keep finding new stuff. Case in point, I somehow didn't really take in all the lyrics until watching your video with them displayed. That line about losing part of you and finding something new hit me like a ton of bricks.
Awww thanks! Glad you enjoyed my stuff! As you know, the Eurovision stuff is a yearly thing for me so hopefully you’ll manage to find some other stuff you enjoy (if not, all good!). This one is pretty much a solid favourite of mine, no bias 😆
Also, I am somewhat disappointed that Drifloon’s rarity was nerfed after Gen 4 as I gotta say, it’s a pretty cool Pokémon 😉
Easily into the final. Love it.
My favourite entry we have ever sent and our biggest chance of winning this far I think 💖 Man I'm just so happy we are included 😂🇦🇺
Really enjoyed your reaction. I LOVE this song: each member brilliant; GREAT vocals; high energy & rocking pace but clear emotion & melody. Soooo clever. 🫶🏼 Also it takes us on a journey, gradually builds, leaves us on a high. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Each time I watch/listen, I'm left with goosebumps. GO VOYAGER!! We're with you. 🫶🏼🥰✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽🎶🎸
PS you're probably way too busy but if you had time I'd LOVE another reaction from you with bit more detail/analysis re some of those points you mentioned eg re changes in which beat is emphasised; syncopation; guitar stuff; double keyboards etc.
Just a thought. 👍🏼👋🏼
I love that there was no compromise here, Voyager doing exactly what Voyager do and now a lot more people know it too, so happy for them to get some of the recognition they deserve.
I love watching someone love this song as much as I do! Fantastic reaction. This song is genius in so many ways, and every time I hear it I get even more out of it. The lyrics are inspired, the vocals are stunning, and the band is so powerful. Every aspect of this song is so well thought out and intentional, and the way the song transitions means it never gets boring or repetitive. It's brilliant! My #1 this year, and quite possibly my #1 Eurovision song of all time. Thanks for sharing. ❤❤
You’re so welcome!! Voyager are amazing and I’m so excited to be seeing them live here in Sydney in June!
Totally agree! A prog band in ESC, amazing! My favourite of all time.
So, so proud of them. The song is an absolute banger ❤🔥
Australia was my favorite 🥰 BR from Finland
Your insight is so fascinating. I always had the sense that composing mirrors storytelling, but not the expertise to point out how or why - this is a revelation. Thank you for these videos!
I've been a musician for the better part of my life and this song makes me cry. It is utmost perfection!
I truly hope Voyager will qualify because then I’ll get to vote for them like crazy in the Grand Final. 🤘 Sure, I’ve loved a few Australian entries before but this year Australia is my clear #1. 🇫🇮♥️🇦🇺
when he stopped it before the growl…….my heart nearly stopped! The anticipation was imense lol. This is very cleverly disguised extreme progressive metal with pop sensibilities and catchiness ❤
Watching last night from Eurovision contest and they rock absolutely love it. they deserved for the stars
Man you made my day. Your joy is infectious. Also, I totally agree about them. I'm a fan by now and I'm so looking forward to see them live one day.
This has to be my this year's favourite. 🤘 I really loved Dami Im and The Sound of Silence, but this is really on it's way to becoming also my favourite Australian entry.
Greetings!
Your analysis of 'Promise' by Voyager was some terrific content! I grew to really love this song over the Eurovision Song Contest week.
As somebody who appreciates music, but doesn't understand how music is assembled, I enjoyed hearing you articulate the mechanics of how this song works.
I will definitely be checking out more of your videos. I might even learn something!
All the best, mate!
Thank you! This was truly my favourite this year (no biases here 😆)
Absolutely loved this in the final and they are one of the bands I’ll need to check out now after the final
First time since Dami I love Australia's song. My joint winner with Finland
Amazing taste!! Both are incredible
It's gonna get my vote!❤❤ from the U.K
In my opinion, they deserved to be in top 5 👍🏻🙌🏻💜💙🙏🏻🇦🇨🦄☮
I love it! And thanks for these detailed analyses, I'm loving them too!
Alright (see what I did there? heh? :D) I've seen it live twice now after last night. This has been completely flying under peoples' radars. I do not see a world where it doesn't qualify. It went down a STORM last night and I very briefly met the guys (they came out for a full artist ending with all the other acts and Danny was right in front of me) - for me it's a solid top 10, the best of all of the band songs this year and he is on point in the live performances. With all the sh*t in Madrid with audio, they were one of the only artists to actually sound genuinely amazing and keeping in tune. Last night they stood out - which was NOT an easy thing to do. People were talking about them afterwards a lot.
Can it win? No. Unfortunately I don't think it can - but it deserves to, and it deserves one of the top positions. I loved it on first listen, and I just keep loving it because each time you listen to it there's something else for you to discover you love (sky turns red in the sunrise, the growl, the stripped back vocals, the guitar/keytar solo). But it has that amazing quality of drawing you in on first listen as well. Deciding factor in Liverpool will be staging and designs, and that's why I don't think it can win - there's not much more they can do than do an anthem style staging and concept. Other artists have much more opportunities with staging in Liverpool, like Kaarija for example of a similar song where the same types of people will vote for it. Luke Black can stand out with staging and vocals and a melodrama, Loreen will be covered in effects, La Zarra too. Blanca Paloma has so much to work with there.
I really want this top finish top 5. As you say, an amazing song, professionals, and just great. I can promise you it's going to be alright though :)
Amazing that you saw them live again. No doubt they’ll perform this when I see them live in Sydney in July!
It’s in the weak semis so no doubt it’ll qualify, and I definitely think it’ll be a surprise top 10. Every year there’s a song which ends up surprising everyone with a much higher result than anticipated or blows people away - Moldova last year, Portugal (Black Mumba) the year before, Proud (N.Macedonia) in 2019.
I think this will be it this year! I really do.
@@TheMuserResolute I agree, I think there are some surprise top 10s (Hello Serbia, Lithuania) and some surprising songs that people expect to be top 10 and won't do it - Slovenia for me, UK, Czech Republic.
@@TheMuserResolute well I'll ya in Sydney then.
Awesome!!
For me you can’t get much better than a classic 80s car, a keytar, THAT hairdo and an 80s cityscape for a stageset ❤
Your joy watching this is infectious and genuine. Enjoy your content
Best review I've ever watched, and I have watched a lot. This will win.
I would love for it to, but I think the way Eurovision goes, it likely won’t. It’s already a winner regardless!
They were awesome and I voted for the many times 😎😎👍❤️🎵🎶🇦🇺💜💙💛🎉
just saw an interview wit denny the singer on german tv - didn't know he was born and grew up in germany and is still fluent 😄
love this song this need tho qualify
It’s quite simply one of the most perfect songs I have ever heard and trust me I’ve heard a lot of songs 🥳
Your reaction is always so emotional! So cool! 🇱🇹
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💃
Thanks for this really thoughtful analysis! I love the song and am loving their back catalogue. My other favourite this year is ‘Who the hell is Edgar?’ which is way weirder but has such brilliant complexity and message to it. Sweden is way boring by contrast IMHO.
It's an absolute blinder, mate. Their 2020 CZcams concert is hilarious and awesome and metaaaaaal!
Now this is finally something I'd actually listen to! I was getting worried I wouldn't find anything new from this year, but will now have to look into all their previous songs too to see if this is their usual quality. For some reason this song also reminds me of White Lies, not sure why though as they're more alt rock and don't do any growls or other heavy stuff 😄 I think it has more to do with the melody or melancholy in this one. Will see if I still see the connection after hearing a few more songs.
Yeh, they've got a very original synth metal kind of sound. I don't know many of their other songs but have been listening to a few of their others as i'm seeing them live in Sydney in July! The growls are quite rare for Voyager so it's a nice surprise when they appear.
My absolute favourite song of the night, such fun and soooo much personality in their stage presence. Phenomenal!
Awesome reaction!
Major key and djenty chugging progressive groove with 80/90 electro-ambient ❤️
So good I've got Their cd' on order.
Great revue. Subscribed
Aren’t they just extraordinary!
One of the best songs of the contest... underestimated by the votes of the public
I love it more 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I didn't even know about this song until they performed it in the Grand Finale. I immediately fell in love with it! I still thought Czechia had a better song, but this was a close second for me!
It was hands down the best song in that Euro. No one remembers the winner- they do, however, remember this tune. As an Irishman, what can I say except ; Advance Australia Fair
Smashed it. I hope the EBU and Australia agree to a permanent place in the competition, preferably on the condition you send Voyager every year.
You should really consider doing a reaction to the German participant as well: "Lord of the Lost" with "Blood and Glitter"
You'll be very surprised by whom Germany is sending this year. Slightly different than usual ;-)
Lord of the Lost:
Dark rock meets goth meets glam metal meets synths including a perfect mixture of clean and harsh vocals down to growls. They are a rabbit hole with so many different styles and moods. They call themselves "genre fluid".
They recently supported Iron Maiden across Europe and will do so this year again. So they they definitely know how to play a huge stage. They are great musicians and released beside their regular albums three acoustic „Swan Songs“ longplayer with a classic ensemble.
Their newest album „Blood and Glitter“ was surprisingly released end of last year with only one week of preselling and hit #1 of the German album charts.
Lord of the Lost did win the German preliminary selection due to a landslide win at the public voting.
Here is their official video for the ESC: czcams.com/video/Y12_YMs9kCQ/video.html
Greetz from a German-Dutch concert photographer with the majority of his family living in Australia 🙂
Thanks!! Coming up soon :) already recorded and waiting for upload!
This man gets it! They absolutely shold have won, but as we all know, Eurovision is just a country/political popularity contest, not a music contest.
Australia set me up for disappointment this ESC-season - this is my run away winner. No contest for me. Unfortunately, it is part of a contest, which it will not win. I just hope it will do better than predicted by the bookmakers, and at least finish top 10.
Completely agree. This deserves a top 5 finish at the very least. This one, Finland and Norway are my top 3.
We called "Piccarda", is wend a song is in minor and then you have a solutions in the same chords but major.
My friend reckons only the vocals were live because none of the guitar amps were switched on??? I know they can do it because I’ve watched some of their other stuff and I’m dying to prove my friend wrong. Amp modelling Alex? Anyway it was clear to me from the intro alone that they are seriously good musicians and writers ❤
Your friend is right as in Eurovision, the backing is not live, just the vocals.
All instruments are pretty much as good as props unfortunately.
It’s just a blanket rule
I liked it as a song
not loved it
But the interesting thing is the lyrics
which as a husband dealing with a partner suffering from Alzheimer's
and the words:
"Promise me that it will be alright"
are very potent words for me
when my partner wakes in the night
and says similar things.
It made me weep.
It was the stand out performance and should’ve won. The voting needs to be made fairer for Australia
Always count on Oz to wake up the world when music gets particularly sucky. Whether it's the Bee Gees, ONJ, Billy Thorpe, INXS, Voyager, Thornhill, etc...
Amazing song, love it. But am I the only one hearing more than a little Gary Numan in this?
Alternate title: why Voyager should have won Eurovision 2023
The Eurovision crowds and panels shamefully rejected Georgia's The Shin "3 minutes to earth" which was absolutely amazing folk prog, so they can reject this too. The thumb rule for Eurovision is to dumb it down for the crowds and if you're a master composer and virtuoso - hide it. Put on a flashy show and drag clothes instead. The computerized audio production will gloss over what lacks in composition.
Fortunately Voyager has genially managed to put on top the repeating Ah-oh hooks and melodies to stick into people's head, so it just might turn out well despite the mentioned reality of things.
Cheers from FIN.
Croatia next, how many songs Mama ŠČ have ?? LOL
I like this one but it's not my favourite so far
Oooo thanks for watching! Which one is your favourite so far?
@@TheMuserResolute either Queen of the Kings or I wrote a song, how about you?
@@billyoconnor1857 at the moment, this one (Australia) or Germany (reactionalysis not released yet).
This is my favorite this year, although I have my reservations. Not very fond of the oooh oooh in the chorus, and I'm definitely not a fan of the guitar solo. Everything else, love it!
