This is a sick review mate, thank you for the deeper analysis! - Scott/Voyager
WOW! Super awesome that you took the time to comment on my video! Thank you very much for the kind words! I really dig the sound. I am rooting for you in Eurovision but regardless of the contest, I see a great road ahead for your band. Keep up the great tunes and if you ever make it to Nashville, I'll buy you a pint and you can teach me the Nutbush.
P.S. I Live Stream at 2pm Central Time here in the US and have a handful of Aussies. If you ever get bored and want to freak people out, jump in.
Cheers!
Eric
The band is trawling comments elsewhere too...
Good luck Scott and Voyager at Eurovision! This is my favourite entry we’ve ever sent in and I’m sure you’ll kill it in Liverpool! ❤
Good luck Scott! Voyager do Australia proud
They've been a band since 1999 and I hope they join your livestream at some point to surprise your listeners!
They absoluty killed it on stage in the semi-final. Everything else looked like kindergarten compared to them! It was so nice to have them close the show with a banger.
I met Simone. She’s too young to be a Mom from ‘83. She’s been through the ringer health-wise, but it seems she’s on the other side of that now.
Simone does a lot of writing and is a technical guitarist. Her solos are insane when she wants to shred.
and my hero! such an amazing and funny woman! Everytime meeting her is hugs galore! She's been creating awareness for Migrane recognition in Australia, glad she's found a way navigating through the sickness, I just came out of 4 days of slumber with migrane and somehow having Simmy's and her resiliance in my thoughts, always helps me through it!
Voyager are from Perth, Australia. The video features our beautiful Kalbarri, Western Australia. Fun fact, Danny Estrin is actually a lawyer for his "day job". Immigration lawyer I believe. They have supported Nightwish and Children of Bodom gigs in Australia 🇦🇺. They have been wanting to go in to Eurovision for years and won public vote last year but jury voted otherwise unfortunately. I hope you listen to 'Dreamer' , ' Colours' and ' Submarine ' by them too . 🇦🇺💥
That is Perth, Western Australia, not Perth, Tasmania.
@@RobertBatchelor Danny appeared as an imigration lawyer expert on the BBC News when Novak Djokovic was trying to get into Australia for the Australian Open. Quite surreal and awesome.
@@RobertBatchelor Perth, Western Australia is way more well known than the one in Tasmania. It's even eclipsed Perth, Scotland.
So good to hear somebody review and appreciate this song who actually knows what he's talking about. So many negative and ill informed comments on the net. If Eurovision is about quality music than this entry will be appreciated. Sadly, I don't know that this will happen
Yes absolutely. Lol it’s an insult to compare this song to Finlands entrant “Cha cha cha 😂
@@melissaellis8796 did you see Voyager doing their take on the Finnish entry? 😅❤️
It did and they killed it
My No. 1 favourite song for Eurovision, this song will be in the second semi final. I believe they will qualify to the finals.
Been a fan of Voyager for years! Think this was their third try to make Eurovision.
Good luck and greetings from Sweden!
Second try
I hadn’t seen the whole venue rocking until Voyager came on. Look at Cyprus entry too. Another Australian
My favourite song from Eurovision!
I felt like being part of the concert, sitting on my sofa.
This guy rules. G'day from Perth!
[edit]: Oh hey, you have synaesthesia too!
They're a band I've been a fan of for close to 15 years, back when I first found them they were a lot more of a power/progressive metal band, always felt like they had a really strong Devin Townsend influence on their sound, but always had that really melodic pop aspect.
Great band and fantastic live, plus genuinely good people to boot.
Love your reaction & LOVE this song!! Vocals. Guitars. Drums. 💯👏🏽👏🏽 They take us on a journey & leave us on a high. BRILLIANT! It slams!! 🔥🔥🔥🎸🎤✊🏽💜
Great review. Really liked your colour visualisation about layering.
I love how you described the craft of the song with colours - so cool.
Cool reaction video! I'm kind of surprised any of the band members haven't posted a comment under it yet, they often do. I'll try to get them to watch it (I'm sure Ash will appreciate your comments 😁).
Voyager should have won Eurovision with this song. Full Stop.
My man with the Bucee cup. Whooo. Another note. Voyager is awesome. Music awesome and even better people. Each of them are fun energetic people.
It's so interesting that you mention so many colours, given their last album is called Colours in the Sun. 7 albums, all very different. Many songs from this band would do well on radio in any country. Thanks for such an informative and professional review and reaction.
Thank you for reviewing. I hadn't thought of the track in terms of colours. Instinctively, first time I heard it - and that's unusual at least for me - I adored it.
Great band and great people. Gday from perth.
Amazing to hear a review of their music from someone who really knows what he's talking... So happy for my buddies! Voyager has been around for quite a while, 1999 I think, first album early 2000's I've known them since 2013/14 I think, maybe before, but huge fan from them for many years, and I can say this song is Voyager sound condensed in 3 minutes. Have a listen to their discography, they're incredible and killing it even more live! They've built a name in the Australian music scene and have toured several times in Europe as well. Now they're having the big success this bunch of beautiful people deserve! Thanks for this reaction/review! 🤩🤘
Nice vocals. Awesome instrumentation.
Thanks for your reaction, it was very wholesome and satisfying 😊
My fav from ESC 2023🎉❤
I'm really digging Voyager's song Runaway, you should check out the live version (they have a bit of fun at the beginning) the vocals and musicmanship is on point and there is a good keytar solo as well.
I loved this review. I think you smiled at all the same parts I did when I first listened to it. I've been a fan for a few years and they've become one of my favourites. I'd have had them on our student radio show without a second thought too.
Very well written song. The bass got me right away.I love the diversity in the band.
PS. I found I concur on a couple more reactors.
It's always nice to find new artists and grpups from The ESC. A couple of years ago it was our Blind Channel and this year it's Voyager - their song is my favourite from all the songs and I have to check out their discography now. 😊
Greets from Perth! Great track isn’t it. Our boys to win. !
Best review ever lover your work Dude 💯 Correct cudos brother
Respect, cobber.
First-timer to the channel, and massive big-ups from Australia.
I think the keytar is the sixth member of the band.
Thanks for the great review. I am thrilled that Voyager are representing us this year, and the song is an absolute banger.
Great review of an awesome band 🤟
Holy Hell, Eric! What a wonderful review. I, too, close my eyes when I want to just let the music in. Outside interference is forbidden. I'm 65 years old now and an old rock musician. Started when I was 14 (1972) I became a slave to Prog Rock bands like, Yes, ELP, King Crimson, Rush, etc.
I've been listening on and off to Voyager since they first started over 20 years ago and they have some great stuff that you need to listen to. Their heart, imagination and love of playing is infused in their work. However, that's not their tag; they are genuinely some of the nicest people to be on the music circuit. They never come off as "hoity-toity" and are great fans of THEIR fans. All the best to them and I wish them all the success in the world!
Mate, your review was spot on. Very well analysed and considered. I really appreciated your insight. It truly is an amazing track.
Wow I didn't see this review during the Euro season. Thank you I loved this analysis.
The entire song was an 80s collection of sounds with a modern touch. Just GREAT! This song deserved more....
It's so, so good!
Great review and analysis man. They're playing in the EuroVision Grand Finale in a few hours and i came across your video in the leadup. & speaking of smooth...your voice is tremendous, I can see why you're a Rock DJ legend. Subscribing now \m/
Shame this MASTERPIECE ended 9th overall in Eurovision final.
The bizarre part is that it won the 2nd semi-final. For example, Albanian voters gave it 12 points in semis, but gave them 0 in finals. Maybe those voters moved from AUS to FIN as Cha Cha Cha was in the other semi? Who knows. In any case, I love this song and it's going to my permanent music archive for frequent listening.
Greetings from a former Boro-ite. (Murfreesboro, that is.) Rock on!
What you're saying is you like the contrast of the dynamics.
Thank you for reacting to a band that I have been a fan for more than 15yrs!
Does Simone play the guitar like the little blond hobbit aka Emppu?
haha, I think Simone brings more variety on her guitar playing style than Emppu to be honest. But it'd be nice to see them both rocking on stage together.. I'd be the 3rd hobbit cheering them up! 😆
love it
These guys need to collaborate with Infected Mushroom. I have a feeling they all can come up with something sensational!
There are so many rock entries in esc this year. I guess tide has turned from brainless pop hits to something different.
We absolutely need it!!!
@@klaudijabogdanovski We do! Last year there were so many sad mopey ballads too (And ofc The Netherlands are sticking to mopey again lol). It's good to have a change.
Yup 👍 Voyager is awesome 😎 Their live performance was amazing ❤️🇦🇺🎵
Proud West Aussie here😁❤️🇦🇺I defy you to find a bad Aussie muso.
Great reaction & song breakdown mate! 👏
I saw Voyager live many years ago as a support band for CoB and they blew me away. Simone is an amazing guitarist and has an amazing stage presence, I could not keep my eyes of her. They are amazing live.
She is super cool, the band is great.
Hi! Loved this review. I was wondering if you could do a reaction to Piqued Jacks "fire brigade". They are representing San Marino at Eurovision this year. Fire brigade isn't their song for Eurovision, but it's my favorite of all their songs so I wonder what your analysis of it is as a rock guy.
Wondering if you might be interested in other Australian classic songs that are often unknown outside of Australia? - You won't be sorry:
Stevie Wright (singer of Easybeats) Evie 123 live at Sydney Opera House: czcams.com/video/lPveBD6WWXc/video.html (11mins)
Cold Chisel, Bow River live czcams.com/video/TdVRNDnTKTU/video.html
John Farnham, Long Way To The Top live czcams.com/video/73X_z_zW4Sg/video.html (cover, not his usual genre but it works)
His keytar is named ‘Brenda’.
Great djenty chugging ending groove in Major key ❤️
I really like this song! Please react to the song "Six feet under" by the group Smash into pieces, they are competing in the Swedish national selection for Eurovision (Melodifestivalen) this Saturday. I was young during the nineties and early 00s, so I feel a lot of nostalgia when I hear that song, although it was written recently.
Excellent 🎉
Very cool to hear you vividly put this song to a spectrograph…your knowledge is very impressive and I couldn’t agree more with your analysis. Such a great band and a great review. Voyager forever!
Please check out the track Brightstar , Voyager are so underrated
Voyager has been a great progressive metal band for years. Album after album they have made have been amazing. This band is above the talent that’s participating. They are on a different talent level.
Curious to see a reaction to “queen of kings” by Norway in Eurovision Song Contest 2023
He knows what's hot,and what's not.
It's solid, personally I think the bass player is the standout, vocals and playing.
They are all great, can't separate them on talent.
I would be interested in what you would think about Australia's 2016 entry to Eurovision
Dami was robbed
@@lollypopangel123 I totally agree.
@@lollypopangel123disagree. Average song.
What about reacting to Germany and San Marino also Ireland:D would be fun
Check out another under rated aussie band TERAMAZE. They just did a cover of phil collins easy lover....
I concur. Teramaze are a great band that not many know of. My favorite album of theirs is 'Her Halo' with the guest singer. But recently guitarist Dean Wells has also been doing the lead vocals, and doing a great job singing!
@@sopwithsnoopy8779 well the singer from her halo album, nathan, is back full time, so the band will have duel vocalists now.
It's takes a lot of discipline and vision to have the guitars just keep it simple and do a sort of drone through the chorus. When you're writing songs on guitar the temptation is to try to do everything all at once. I think that's fine to just use as like a reference, help you build it out in your head. But then you want to 'arrange' that idea, spread the workload out and give everything i's own distinct sonic space.
Video starts at 3:47
95% of Eurovision singers WISH they were as good as the BASSIST in this band.
Австралия была лучшей!
I think the lead guitarist is a woman
Not a woman 🙄 why ????????
Just joking, Simone the guitarist is a woman and a mum 👍💕
She does the guitar solo, sorry for the previous joke, just it's obvious she is a woman, no complaint for you just wanted verification, I'm very naughty playing with you, forgive me
Nice, but i have to be honnest i dont really like it when there is autotune used,or atleast it sounds like it is... for the rest nice song and band, lets see how they do at eurovision. Thnxx Eric
Seen these guys live, no autotune at all
@@gregorypratt7201 great and i believe it, like i sad, on this video it sounds like it to me
Absolutely not auto-tuned. Danny has an amazing voice live.
@@klaudijabogdanovski then i was wrong😁, this was not live, maybe its just mix
I concur - they are 100% live.
VOYAGER, THE TRUE WINS!
