Hey everyone, my name is Octorious and in this Sony PS4 tips & tricks video, I'll be showing you how to fix PS4 fan noise and make your PlayStation 4 quieter by showing you an easy way on how to clean PS4 fan without opening it completely, along with some other easier tips and tricks. These tips to make your PS4 Pro, slim or original model quieter or even whisper-silent are for all models of the system so make sure you stick around and watch all the way through! I hope this video helps you learn how to clean your PS4 pro fan or how to clean your PS4 fan depending on which version of the console you own. It is worth noting that by doing these tricks, you are not guaranteed to completely eliminate fan noise, though these tips should definitely help to reduce PS4 fan noise and stop your PS4 from sounding like a jet engine. @@XD-je5lc the fan is completely different and can be adjusted with firmware updates. It also has holes dedicated to collecting dust to keep it out the heatsink and fan, and hey, its cooled with liquid metal. I think itll get louder but only to the point where u can actually hear the fan spinning. I cant hear it at all in mine rn

@@XD-je5lc my ps4 is the same. Though it uses a cheap fan, terrible thermal paste, has no room to breathe inside, whereas the ps5 is engineered not to do that. Thats exactly why its so big.

Guys, be careful during tip 3 : Make sure your fan does NOT spin while being cleaned !! Theoretically if the fan speed ( rpm ) is low enough you will be fine, but best sticking on the safe side. Thanks for the upload, some very good advice in a very short period of time !! :D

I have cleaned my ps4 slim and applied new thermal paste and also installed a new hard drive but the fan still a bit too loud

What do you recommend I set my Audio Output to in Sound and Screen settings? Also, do you think disabling System Music & Key Tone improves PS4 performance?
Set you audio output to whatever the audio device instructions tell you to. So for me when I want to use my 5.1 surround system, I set it to HDMI, then Bitstream Dolby, but when I use my headset that is connected via the optical port so its set to Digital Optical, then i use bitstream dolby and disable all formats aside from the top one i think. Your audio device's manual will have the best settings in there. Same goes for the sound and devices bit of the quick menu, set the audio to all audio or chat audio depending on what you device is configured to do. In terms of disabling system music and key tones, it might have a VERY small impact on performance but I doubt it is noticeable. You might as well try it though :D

Is it bad to use a lot of air while cleaning the fan? I have a big air blower that can be adjusted to not push out a a lot of air so do you recommend using it?
Another tip: if you have a disc or game disc inside of the ps4 it may also cause ps4 overlay so if you take it out it REALLY HELPS.

what should I use to clean the fan for the PS4 slim?
octorious! i did everything in your videos and it’s helped a lot. but i’m worried if i haven’t cleaned it the best i could. i used the artic MX-4 thermal paste because i think it is the best for ps4 and most reliable and lasts the longest. my fan works perfectly and spins fine and i cleaned out all of the dust. but i’m nervous cos when opening it i think i may have lost thermal pads or some were missing, and idk if i should open my ps4 up again and replace them. my model of the ps4 is the first original one and i want some solid thermal pads that aren’t expensive.
Sounds like you did a decent job. The thermal pads sometimes get stuck onto the metal plating so they are probably there but when you close it again they will reseal. If you want some solid thermal pads, check ebay as they sell similar ones to the PS4 that will work well

I just cleaned my ps4 slim for the first time since getting it. before it sounded like a jet plane taking off, now it is literally SILENT. I was hoping there would be a little difference because I couldn't even hear the games I was playing before but it's perfect now. I guess dusting off the hardware really is important.

Does this happen through every audio device you try? So through earphones, headsets and TV speakers? Try uninstalling the game and installing it again as well as rebuilding the database of the console.

Hey..is it true that ps5 will run in 4k 120hz with ray tracing?? Also will minecraft support raytracing with 60fps in ps5??!!
PS5 can run native 4K at 120fps, however probably not with ray tracing at the same time. When ray tracing is enabled itll be 4K 60 or 4K 30 depending on the game. Not even the very very high end GPUs can run native 4K 120fps with max ray tracing enabled, and thats looking at something like the RTX3090 or AMD's new top end cards. In terms of Minecraft, I imagine it will get an update on PS5 but as its a Microsoft game I couldnt say for sure. Its definitely capable of raytracing at 60fps on MC, its just whether MS choose to add it to PS5 or not.

Possibly. As the PS5 is EXTREMELY custom its hard to say. Devs will really be able to optimise fully for it so its likely it could do. For Legion though ubisoft have confirmed that both the PS5 and Series X will do Legion 4K 60FPS WITHOUT RT, or 4K 30 with. And thanks so much for the sub :D

Yes thats bad. You are blocking an entire side of intake fans and the console will be warmer and louder, and wont run as well as a result of that. If you want to stand it on it's side, use the official stand (link in description)

If its that dusty, then take it fully apart to clean thoroughly.

I put 2 in the description as one is more effective BUT its also potentially dangerous to use and if it comes into contact with any other part of the PS4 it could very well break it. HOWEVER, with the liquid metal one it would be a lot cooler and quieter. The alternative in the description that isnt liquid metal is the best standard thermal paste for the PS4 and does not give any risk to breaking the console from it leaking, though it isnt as effective as the liquid metal.

Yeah dont stand it vertically without the stand, you can buy the stand in the description, but otherwise keep it horizontal.

Yeah that really helps! I did mention the thermal paste in the video and link the best ones in the description, though I didn't want to show how to replace it in this exact video. I wanted to show fast and easy ways :) One of those was an easy way to clean the heatsink without taking it completely apart. Try to manually connect your PS4 to the internet using the WPS button on the router, or try using a LAN cable.

Me doing an educated guess: Since even the PS4 Pro does NOT render games in a NATIVE 4K ( not to be confused with this " Checkerboarding " technique ) ... I SUPPOSE that playing a game on 1080p rather than 4K would produce LESS fan noise. Unfortunately I do not have a 4K TV or Monitor to test this myself ... Again this is me making an educated guess. Feel free ( anyone ) to post a comment on this !!
Technically but only if the game's internal rendering resolution is lowered and that isnt really possible as you can only change what the PS4 outputs. The PS4 Pro does also render games in Native 4K, but not all, and a lot are checkerboarded. Wipeout Omega collection is Native 4k 60fps, The Last of Us remastered has a native 4K 30fps target mode too etc.
@@Octorious True. Though many, really awesome games when played on a PS4 Pro at 1080p are capped at 30fps... And I am not only talking about demanding games such as TLoU 2 or RDR 2 ... Games that were released in the early years of the PS4. On the bright side, I am really looking forward to to playing all those games at a capped 60 FPS [ on my new backwards compatible PS5 ] as they deserve to be played :D Thank you very much for every single reply to my many ( and long ) comments !
