- Hello CZcamsrs. Recently, I discovered a trick that somehow silences my PS4 Pro. Watch this video and learn how to easily turn your jet engine (PS4) into a silent gaming console. All you need to do is turn on a specific setting on your monitor or TV. It works for me, I hope it works for you as well. This is the PS4 Pro CUH 7016b.

I replaced fan and thermal paste. Two weeks later same shit. My living room sounds like an airport runway. It really sucks.

I replaced thermal past 5 times, the problem return after 2 to 3 days, everyday the sound goes up and up and at the end return to the same jet sound
For me, it lasted about 1 month. So annoying... 😖

A tad bigger fan n liquid metal would quiet it to almost 30-40 decibles at full peak. Sony chose a bad design. I had an original gave it to my cousin got a 7215 b much quiter

Same here. Mine doesn't start take off until I hit the multiplayer menu on MW only then does it go crazy. Once I back out to the main menu where it shows the story, multiplayer, warzone it immediately goes quiet.

This actually helped, i was playing at 4k hdr and my ps4 pro sounded like an airplane, i reduced it to 1080p and now no noise at all, thank you man

The new consoles need to have dust traps so the fan doesn't get dusty
They do it on purpose to make you buy a new one
Just by normal PC. Quite and easy to remove dust

@@JamieRobert_ Especially the newer gaming systems. Ps3/xb360/ps4/xb1 break down easily. That's why whenever they release slim versions for the xbx and ps5. I'll consider getting one. I'm already on my 2nd 360, my 2nd ps4, my 2nd ps3, and my first xb1.
Yeah they're loud. The intake for them are on their sides so standing it up blocks half the intakes. it's good to rest them on spacers when standing like this to allow intake on the bottom as well. I've got mine on two erasers for just a bit of gap and it has helped immensely.

Replacing it might help, but I don't know. For me, only some games make the fan spin so fast. Even when the PS4 is cold as ice !

How on earth is the Pro so loud and the One X so quiet?? I have both and sometimes i forget to switch my xbox off when my tv goes on standby mode because it just doesn’t make ANY noise. But i with my Pro i have to always wear a headset because it’s just too damn loud.

my PS4 PRO sounds exactly the same. Every game that has HDR its going crazy. I cleaned my ps4 pro so much, its no dust inside but still sound like a fucking plane.
Have you replaced the thermal paste ? Some people in this comment section say it can help..
New 77 Era I actually literally just replaced the thermal paste, and thermal pads on my PS4 Pro, and it's literally dead quiet. I thought it was a hoax, but it completely worked for me. I'd recommend doing this which will fix it for most consoles, since the quality of thermal paste they put in the factory is trash.

Wouldn't having an external power supply instead of an internal help on future designs? I remember xbox 360 having one and never having sound issues. Power supplies are a great source of heat if they stay within the box.

I have a "new and silent" RDR2 PS4 pro, it is loud but not this loud. Also this trick is forcing the PS4 to output in lower res that makes the PS4 pro pointless, if you change the resolution in the settings the same will happen, but you only got 1080p instead of upscaling.
Somebody may find this useful, but as I mentioned, this basically makes the pro to a slim.
Damn this activates my OCD 😅 afraid it might overheat, blackout and smoke comming out of the console.

New & large games are very demanding. I experience a loud fan when playing Cyberpunk, even though the entire game is digital & saved on a external drive. It means the motherboard is close to overheating. Smaller & older games like Rayman Legends are much less demanding & the fan doesn’t activate at all.
Absolutely, my PS4 Pro was extremely loud when playing Warzone or PES 2021! Not the case for Singstar 😂
I get the feeling that some games program the fan to kick in before before demands take over. Several games I have the fan is going full bore whilst on the startup menu and the air coming out the back is lukewarm at best.
Could also mean there’s a lot of dust inside it & the fan is trying to clear the vents. A compressed air can thing could help, a bit. The best thing to do is take it apart & clean out the dust inside it. There could be grease on the CPU too.
@@evanbaracuda maybe, but I'm not willing to risk ruining it, it was inherited from my brother in law when he died a couple of years ago and my wife would never forgive me if I broke it as it has sentimental value.
There is one tip from me place something in order to lift your ps4/ps4 pro higher (bottom side vertical) is also a air intake vent. You can also make your own usb fan and put under it. I cleaned my ps4 and placed new thermal paste. And got 2 fans running on the bottom. Its very quiet now and barely warm when gaming. Yes the when sometimes still kicks in but cleaned 2 hours ago so yea. I think the system doesnt not its cleaned or something. I will see couple of days if it will be quieter when the system know that the fans are cleaned and stuff

My monitor has a dedicated PIP menu. Else, it should be in the settings menu.

have you tried locking the resolution to a lower one? 480p or 720p? launching it in PiP mode probably launches the game in a lower resolution so that's probably why the ps4 is running cooler.
That's precisely the reason the PS4 is running cooler. By launching in PIP mode you force the PS4 to go below 720p, which is not possible in the settings :)
I have an Xbox one s, even when I’m playing modern warfare, the fan stays quiet, the Xbox one fan sounds like a furnace
The same goes for PS4 and PS4 Pro.
i cant even use my ps4 to watch disney plus or even game sufficiently to my liking its just unplayable so i play xbox games now and its so much more satisfying bc the xbox is newer and i feel at times better

Many PS4 Pro sound like this. You could replace the thermal paste as it helps reducing the noise for a while :)
USE A LIGHT TO CHECK THE SIDE OF THE FAN CLOSEST TO THE SHINY METAL PLATE , there will be a build up of dust because it's hard to reach and the fan blows it all in that direction. Clean it out and your ps4 will finally be quiet, took me a couple of years to find this out so hopefully I can help somebody else out. No need to take the whole console apart

@@nigelday2252You can use compressed air from a can, thats the easiest way, I used that eventually but i modified a bike pump so I could blow through my console. Also by just making sure the console is off and blowing with your mouth from where the fan is will work to clear out the dust. You'll know you've moved a blockage the moment you see dust shoot out of the back of the ps4

That's interesting even though my Emerson TV unfortunately doesn't have the PIP feature. My PS4 starts overheating and shows the red light almost every time I play the Resident Evil 3 demo. I hate when my PS4 sounds like a jet turbine. The PS4's cooling system is trash.and is a pathetic piece of tech.

That sounds like your system is overheating. You should be able to fix the red light issue by opening up your system to clean out dust and replace the thermal paste.

I do know that mine is kind of loud, it is a 2nd hand PS4 pro it might have 4 years of life. I've already talked to some one that does cleaning n thermal paste change ... For about 50 euros I might as well do it ...
@@ObniMan Thank you for your feedback ! The thermal paste cost me 5-10 EUR and it will silence your PS4 Pro for a few months ☺️ If you replace the thermal pads as well and/or use even better thermal paste, you could silence it even longer !

For many PS4 Pros, the thermal paste has dried out or there is accumulation of dust. You could try to replace the thermal paste :)

My PS4 Pro was always VERY loud, but never overheated to the point that it shut off. So, I think it could work for you 😊

My fan was only breathing through a tiny hole from all the dust and I replaced the thermal pads after cleaning that dust and my PS4 pro is dead silence silent like 0 sound whatsoever coming from it. Just get the proper tools and open it to clean it while following a guide
I did the exact same thing and posted a video about it a few days ago. My PS4 Pro is a lot quieter now ! :)
Mine is almost brand new as I hardly use it (mainly a pc player). I took mine apart thinking it was just dust from sitting there. Clean as anything inside and it still sounds like a rocket :(
By doing this your creating a situation where you can over heat your PS4 by tricking it into thinking the GPU have a smaller graphical load from the small pip window this is a terrible idea
So would you need to do this every time when you want to play Fortnite or something like that, or would it stay the same?

My PS4 Pro was loud during Modern Warfare (download) and PES 2020 (disc).

The only things that really helps is setting your resolution either to 1080p if you are gaming on a pro or to 720p if you are on a base PS4. Setting the pro to 720p improves the noise problem even further.
What this trick basically does is lowering the resolution in the pip mode. I guess it‘s running on a lower resolution than it the default settings so the console renders the game in lower Rez.
I tried it myself on death stranding. Loaded a really heavy scene on 4K and hdr on and the jet went off. I lowered the res to 1st 1080p and it improved drastically, going down to 720p made the PS4 pro even more silent. Downside is playing now on 720-1080p on a 4K/65“ but now I can play even without headphones while my wife can do other stuff in the same room like watching tv and stuff.
I can’t help myself than repeat myself over and over. The time hasn’t come for 4K gaming on consoles yet.

Unfortunately, setting it to 720p is not always enough. For instance, Warzone is super loud, even on 720p.
This "trick" somehow forces the PS4 to go below 720p, that is 720x480 (Standard Definition) or 480p.

My Xbox Series X, One S and One X has been silent since release date, bought a ps4 pro due to the exklusives.
The only console that makes noise whilst gaming on 4K is my ps4 Pro…
With this I can assure you that the only console not ready for 4K was the playstation consoles 😂 but the exclusives are worth it
@@kevinjansson745 tru! I had an Xbox, an one s and an one x and all consoles were silent even on heavy games. Guess MS did a great job using better cooling solutions than Sony. As far as I know Sony uses same fans as in laptop, Xbox cooling fans look more pc cpu coolers. No wonder they are more silent
All I did was replace the turbo and bought a full exhaust system. Purrs like a cat now 😁

The fans need to be cleaned out if your console is that loud. When I purchased my PS4 Slim about 5 months ago (NEW NOT USED) it was absolutely silent while playing MW. I recommend cleaning out your console for dust every few months. 🤷🏻♂️

fyi, even though PS4 consoles were designed to be placed btoh horizontally and vertically, it's best if you place the device horizontally as that provides the best aiflow (due to the positioning of the fans), thereby lowering the temperatures and fan noise. This is also better for the optical disc drive (you won't hear the clicking/whirring that is sometimes present when placing a console vertically).

I had a smaller monitor from Samsung that has the same feature. It costs +/- 100 EUR :)
But how does this work on a 4K tv from samsung? There is no PIP mode for that
