I got a straight razor shave in a barbershop once and it was the best shave I ever had so I've bought a straight razor and can't wait to try it.

I am very surprised by the angle used; it seems to be doing more scrape/scratching the skin than cutting the hair.
I was thinking the same. Looks to be close to 45-60 degrees vs 30...... but I'm still new at this. Only about a year in.
I was thinking the same and when he stops the straight edge it seems like he uses alot of pressure..

No. Make enough lather for two passes. Second pass doesn’t require as much lather
Just did my first attempt with a straight razor on myself and abandoned not quite halfway through due to the amount of blood. LOL! I thought it was lack of knowledge and practice; however, it is apparent the primary culprit is I dont have a badger brush!

Just go to nearest barber, mate.
It's not expensive and it's much safer than doing it by yourself.
Especially if you always bleed yourself when shaving.

Oh, that sound? It's all thanks to the hollow grind. The blade's thinnest part, known as the 'soul,' is only 0.1-0.2 mm thick. Dull? Far from it! It's like a symphony for your beard, cutting smoothly and masterfully.

Art of the shave is over $50 with an appointment. You have to have this done at least once in your life. I played 1950's big band music while I had the shave, I'm 20 years old. 😂
You're paying for the experience, not the shave.
