Of course Halbrand was supposed to be Sauron, he is the only normal and tolerable character in this series. He behaves adequately, does not annoy you to hell, does not behave like a complete sociopath, so who else, if not him, can be an evil overlord?
In this series, the characters who were supposed to be good guys have been turned into complete idiots, sociopaths and Karens, so by this logic, the bad guys should be perfectly normal sensible beings.

He's stronger than Galadriel, as was displayed in the finale, so he could have easily overpowered her and said no, just like the finale. This show completely massacred the character of Galadriel. She's supposed to be one of the wisest elves who was always suspicious of Sauron when he disguised himself as an elf named Annatar to manipulate the elves into making the rings. “In Eregion Sauron posed as an emissary of the Valar, sent by them to Middle-earth ("thus anticipating the Istari") or ordered by them to remain there to give aid to the Elves.”
Sauron also named himself Aulendil (“Pupil of Aule the Vala of Crafting”). “Galadriel was not deceived, saying that this Aulendil was not in the train of Aulë in Valinor."
Source: Unfinished Tales, History of Galadriel and Celeborn
Sauron did not disguise himself as an elf, that is common misconception, Tolkien states Sauron presented himself as full-blown angelic emissary from the west. After all, master Noldor smiths who surpassed even elves of Valinor with their craft would not listen to any elf that would come to them.

Everyone has their own spin on "what's wrong with Rings of Power", and it is enjoyable (and addictive) to watch or read everyone's take. My own view is that -- while all the individual problems are worth discussing in detail -- the CORE problem with the series boils down to a single small but critical issue. The overhead shot of the three rings confirmed this to me, so much that I shouted at my computer screen. If they were selling these things on ShopChannel for $9,95, Id think it was a rip-off even WITH the blended-in Mithril. How could the finest craftsmen and smiths in the whole of Middle Earth make such cheap-looking trash?
Everything wrong with this series boils down to the same thing: Nobody in the production - neither cast, crew, writers or ANYONE -- bothered to pay any real attention to THE DETAILS.
That is what makes the RoP disaster so obviously NOT Tolkien. The Details!
The scent of hay in the meadows after the fall mowing ... The taste of strawberries and cream ... Rosie Cotton dancing ...
Nobody cared about the details when making this elaborate farce. And it shows in every single dimension of the show.
People have commented on the cheap-looking costumes, but have you ever considered the fact that Celeborn has been wearing exactly the SAME CLOTHES for the entire eight episodes? I think the same is true of Gil-Galad. And Im not even gonna comment on the filthy hobbittsses. Little things -- like the fact that nobody walks around in metal armor unless they are expecting to be in battle at any moment -- are what ruins the show. How come the villagers accepted Halbrand as their "lost king" if there actually had been no King of the Southlands for 1000 years? Meh. Details. How could mithril be absolutely essential for the survival of every elf in Middle Earth, and we are facing imminent death ... but a few little chips of ore mixed with pure gold and silver is enough to save the entire race? Meh. Details. Ships arent big enough to hold the required number of cavalry and supplies? Meh. Details. The sun rises in the west? Meh. Details.
"I have found that it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folks that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love. These are the things that matter."
Nobody ever really LOVED this show. And it is obvious. Its also obvious that nobody ever will.

Every male creature either falls in love with Galadriel or worships her (if he is her close relative or has another love interest), 2. Mayar can fall in love with Elves and they can respect and even admire Elves (and not only), 3. Sauron is a Maya, usually wearing male body. Never underestimate Mary Sue's created by great authors 🙂

The real Galadriel (also Elrond) is immediately distrustful of him. He then moved on to Celebrimbor who he flattered, taught his ring-lore to, and helped forge the rings for Men and Dwarves. It was only after he left that Celebrimbor forged the 3 Elven rings, which were not able subject the wearers to Saurons dominion, since they were not forged by him, but were made using his ring-lore, and so were weakened and made unusable when Sauron crafted and used the One ring. I live in a homogenous nation where everyone around me are pretty much white. I think that Black people are an oddity around here to the point that if you see one they stand out from the crowd and you know what? That's okay. It's even the same for Asiatic people. My brother has a Japanese wife. She stands out from the crowd. She looks different, she is much shorter than everyone else. There's this weird ideological aspect about western culture today where the MESSAGE is as follows: "treat everyone as if you're all the same"
..But we're not the same. Never have been. You can treat others differently, but still be respectful about it. We do this all the time with family, friends and strangers. We do this to foreigners too.
Rings of Power fails on first sight, because it is essentially amalgamation of all modern political (and consumerist) viewpoints in a single package. None of the human settlements we see in the show have any culture of their own. Even the Elves seem like they're just humans with longer ears, so in essence, they are just all the same. All the varying races or ethnicities are represented in the show in all of the 'factions' present in RoP as if it is completely normal. No one stands out, because 'we are all the same' according to the people making this show. The only faction in this show that seemed to have a semblance of culture were the sociopathic troglodytes called Harfoots, but sheesh..
I could write a four or five pages long essay alone on why ethnicity is important in casting the show, but then I would be immediately called a reishist for doing so. I'm reminded of a movie called The Last Samurai. How authentic would that movie feel if 'Hollywood modernity' was imposed on it and you'd have that random African Samurai out there fighting as if he belonged to the crowd? Meh. Why do people even have to ask these questions as if this was not something completely obvious in the first place?

@@whitegoose2017 The majority of people today are extremely stupid. It may sound strange but yes they really are. I don't know if its due to the conditioning and brainwashing or just nature trying to weaken humanity and it's society. Yes, they tells us that we are all the same and yet my eyes and facts tell me otherwise. Why do people believe those lies? I really don't know. What i do know is the intentions behind the lie - to wipe out Europe and the rest of the West as a civilization. This is why they constantly assault our pride, culture and identity not shying from censorship and public ridicule on you and your loved ones for standing up for your people. The other assault is on our people as a different ethnicity. The EU for example intentionally makes our life worse, not taking any measure to ease us or to promote european families. Instead they flood us with dangerous people from other countries who actually hate us, to let's just say it, replace us. They rationalize like Edward Longshanks from Brave Heart - If we can't get them out, we'll breed them out.
Ethnicity is VERY important when it comes to worldbuilding and in real life. Them ignoring key biological and societal facts like indigenous people is intentional. If they cared about making a compelling world they would make different people and cultures to stand out but this is against the message they are trying to push down our throats. It is not about the money or art, it is about sending this message. Those people are Leftist activists who hate white people especially white families. This is the lore breaking reason why Celeborn was removed, a key character. Because in the lore Galadriel and Celeborn are happily married, this is a no no for them. White men should be demonized. But what to do more? Oh, invent a sister for Isildur that complains how white men hold her back because she is a woman...
Don't expect anything good from such blackened hearts. White men for years are portrayed as unlikable, hostile and weak people. The only romance couple out there? A blackwashed elf and a white woman. I literally called it even before this show started. I know how those scum operate. It is like they are following instructions from someone. Let me tell you, nothing is a coinsidence and this push is too organized and coordinated to be one.

The thing I am seeing now looking back after watching the show was that way way too many coincidences had to happen for this plot to happen:
    1) Galadriel decides to literally jump ship and thinks she can actually swim back to land across a ocean basically
    2) In the midst of that, she just so happens to find a raft and who else just so happens to be on it (Oh Sauron!)
    3) Sauron decides to save Galadriel when he probably knew full well who she was!
    4) Galadriel assumes he's the right person to be King of the Southlands due to something he has (Sauron by the way told her that he got it off a dead man!)
    5) They just so happen to then get rescued by Numenor and Elendil of all people to survive being adrift at sea
    6) Halbrand/Sauron tells Galadriel he's content with staying in Numenor, but Galadriel somehow convinces the Numenorians to go war for her without any political grace/prowess whatsoever so that Halbrand/Sauron can be the King of the Southlands. Reminder, she has no real proof why he's the right man to be King of the Southlands!
    7) Halbrand/Sauron still doesn't want to go, but once Galadriel plays the emotional blackmail game on him, he decides to go (Galadriel forced Sauron to go to war!)
    8) Halbrand/Sauron gets severely wounded (off-screen by the way) to where he needs medical attention, but can survive a 6 day horse ride to Eregion of all places
    9) Celebrimbor just immediately trusts this guy who literally came out of nowhere to forge the rings of power and Sauron knows what to do with the mithril in a matter of days
    10) Once Celebrimbor says a few choice words, Galadriel then finally starts to wonder who Halbrand really is instead of when they were in Numenor
    11) When the truth is revealed, Sauron decides to let Galadriel live when it seems he had the opportunity to at least kill her before he fled
    12) Also, we only know the 3 rings of power were forged for the elves, but what about the 7 and the 9 rings Sauron helped forge with Celebrimbor?

I guess understanding the intricacies of writing for movies and TV is a very rare skill and they have to hire the same people because no one else can do it?

I watched several female run review channels to see their take on this, and they all hate Galadriel. It reinforces my belief that your normal average everyday person regardless of skin color or gender really hates the identity politics in today's entertainment.

Also the "strong female character" archetype takes traits from other male characters but not their arcs making them mismatched and infuriating. Need them to be a leader always taking charge of the group? Make them show actual leadership and motivate the team and not treat them like they're just extras. Want them to be a jerk to people? You need to make them ending up having to choose between their own goal/wants or the wants/welfare of others. Actual choices that villains would seem as a trivial one with going along with their selfish natures without a second thought.
the problem with this with strong female character is that they would do the same things a lot of times that villains do but it's used as a good thing instead of making it the more morally complex action that it is. It only works for fools or for the first time until you think about it then it becomes irritating when you see it again.

Earned my 'like' this video when you pointed out "none of the characters are likable" because I took notice that about a lot of modern media. My hypothesis is that the writers are morally, mentally and ethically garbage as human beings with heads filled with narcissism and insane ideology, who are not likable themselves, do not understand what makes a person relatable ( _in_ _the_ _actually_ _real_ _sense_ _of_ _shared_ _humanity_ , which the writers have scrubbed away with ideological self-brainwashing) likable, and takes all the trash of traits they and their "friends" identify with as what 'representative' or 'relatable'

It's funny about the Stranger being Gandalf because the wizards didn't appear in Middle-Earth until the third age, after the Last Alliance that temporarily defeated Sauron. He had nothing to do with the making of the rings or that story.

    So....Bottom line is:
Sauron is a good fellow hoping to embrace the light and to save the world and Galadriel is a psycho with killer instinct...well, if a twist is what they were looking for, that’s indeed a twist.
I wonder....do the “writers” proofread their scripts once they are done, or we are watching some sort of drafts put together for the sake of finishing a job on time? Like, seriously, there are middle graders fully capable of writing way better than that as a schoolwork

Sauron the 2nd act of evil in the 2nd age. Idiots make Sauron a simp for GUYladriel. Sorry Sauron isn't capable of simping for any woman. He loves himself and his mission and his obedience to Morgoth, so he cannot fall in love like a love sick moron. Sauron is the ultimate evil, a symbol of masculine power, but Amazon couldn't wait to turn him into a woman.

On purpose. Their enemy is not Sauron. To the producers against the Patriarchy, post modernists all, the enemy that must be defeated is the West. Aragorn most symbolized the West in LoTR; so the most Aragorn-like character in this show must be...Sauron.
    Contrast him with:
    Elrond the Friendzone
    Elendil the I Understand
    Islidur the Oops
    Gil Galad the Huh?
    Galadriel the PrimeMoverBestestEva
    and the Nazgurls

I posted my last comment before watching this video because I was impressed by your title. But this is to say that if there was ever a show that doesn't deserve one's full attention it's this one. I can barely cope with clips shown by reviewers, wouldn't touch the show itself for anything in the world.
In fact lately I would just play reviews to give Tolkien defenders the clicks, but I couldn't even watch them in their entirety.
