Mendoza is pulling the starters too early. After Diaz got suspended, he should have leaned on the starters more, but he pulled them as follows:
Jun 26 Manaea pulled at 77 pitches, gave up 0 ER
Jun 28 Quintana pulled at 93 pitches, gave up 2 ER
Jun 30 Severino pulled after 79 pitches, gave up 4 ER
Jul 1 Peterson pulled after 86 pitches, gave up 2 ER
good point. although Quintana at 93 isn't too early. i think if you're under 90 and not tired you should go back out.

The Mets are treading water right now because the bullpen is a mess. That said ... the horizon is not disastrous. Diaz will return. Sean Reid-Foley, allegedly, will be healthy. It is a shame that Raley is lost for the season ... a real gut punch. It is a shame that Drew Smith is lost for the season ... really tough loss. That said ... get Diaz and SRF back and add ONE bullpen arm (and that might be an internal arm like Megill), then the Mets look pretty good moving forward. It is a short-term bullpen disaster, but big picture ... I think the Mets should be okay.

METS PROBLEM IS THE STARTING PITCHER CANNOT GO 5 INNING AND THE TERRIBLE FRONT OFFICE WHO LOOKS THE OTHER WAY, MEAN WHILE THEY PAYING FOR OTHER TEAMS ACE PITCHERS AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ONE OF THERE OWN, AS ALWAYS WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR.
