those little bits of metal at the crossguard of kylo's saber are songsteel or mandalorian iron, I'm pretty sure I remember reading that, which are saber-proof metals

Ben, Kylo's lightsaber doesn't have crossguards they are vents because the crystal Kylo uses is really shit and it is unstable if it is contained without venting points
BrO'Neill Technically yes but it serves the same purpose as a cross guard because lightsabers can clearly block physical attacks and that's clearly the same energy produced by a saber (as seen when it's used to stab Finn). So perhaps not intentionally designed as a cross-guard but has the same effect.
Mind you the metal might not be able to be cut as Ben said given vibro weapons are made of "cortosis" specifically to combat lightsabers and can't be cut by it (something I imagine that sabers metal would need to be made of less it get destroyed from the inside out)
Even if a lightsaber were to cut through the little metal bits on Kylo's lightsaber, there is still the plasma underneath it wouldn't cut. Or an alternative is that it could be made out of Cortosis-weave which is what vibroswords were made out of which could withstand a lightsaber.
Where do you get this info? I thought it was for when you are in a clash lightsaber v lightsaber, you can still stab your opponent in the breast with the sidesabers...
That description of the crystal makes me thing of an Ork trying to salvage it.
I've been on a warhammer kick lately.
This makes sense, although it seems it would have been a neat trick to just move the side guard so it actually did function as a crossguard. Would have turned the downside into a relative upside. Not that Kylo would really use it that way, he seems to be a bit more into the hacking and slashing than the guarding and defensive maneuvers.

Pretty sure their plan is for Kylo Ren to be waiting to add the crystal that Luke has from Darth Vader to stabilise his lightsaber.
I don't know much about the extended universe of Star Wars, but I remember reading somewhere that Kylo Ren's lightsaber is made using an unstable crystal so the things on the sides are exhausts.
The handguard saber parts eminate from within the guard, thus a direct blow to the guard would stop a lightsaber, although it would cut through some of the metal.
William Smith Except I am pretty sure lightsabers are made out of something that can withstand a lightsaber or the blade would damage the hilt.
kylo rens saber's design is made with the two side vents because its a fractured crystal. If it werent for the side vents the crystal would compromise and probably explode

It isn't a crossguard, they are vents in the lightsaber. Kylo was only able to find a cracked crystal with which to make his lightsaber and so the beam it creates is highly unstable, that's why the 'blade' shimmers and warps so much. The smaller beams on the sides are just venting of excess energy created due to the crack.

Incidentally, those little metal bits are lightsaber proof for lack of a better term. The metal found at the top of that saber is made out of lightsaber resistant material so it does in fact function as a cross guard.
For Kylo’s lightsaber even if you cut down past the hand guard you would still be blocked by the crystal itself the hand guard there is more like for Kylo to not burn his fingers off while using it

Btw Ben a light saber wouldn't be able to cut through the cross guard as the metal guard is also covering some of the blade inside, basically even if you cut through the guard there is still the blade there, the metal guard is just a little protection for the hand but even so most light saber wielders spend years training with light sabers so that they wouldnt harm themselves anyway.
Th3 LoneWolf isn't the lore that he is using an old saber model and those are for exhaust? That's why the saber is all jittery and stuff as well.
Th3 LoneWolf it's still a bad design. Why have the metal that can be cut through go all the way round. If it is for protecting the user it only needs to be on one side, unless you want molten metal dripping about near your hands.
no the reason his lightsaber is jittery is because hes using a ''cracked'' kyber crystal which cant contain the power well making it unstable, he chose the old saber model as the exhausts could stop the lightsaber from destroying itself
its only minor protection and the cross guard doesn't touch the actual blade and im guessing that kylo would have probably made the cross guards out of strong/resistant materials
Th3 LoneWolf if someone elses lightsaber touches it it would make a lot of messy bits of metal to deal with. Why make it at all though, just have the holes in the side of the main handle.

Ya'know, the part that makes me angry about kylo's lightsaber is that people think you can just slice through the metal. Sure, you would be able to slice through the top part, but it would still hit the laser part of the crossguard before going all the way through.

Ben who is to say that that part of Kylo Rens lightsaber isn't made out of Mandalorian iron. Which is one of the only materials that can withstand a blow from a lightsaber.
Ben is forgetting that there's not three different emitters in Kylo's sabre, but only one. The beam is split at the crossguard, meaning that there's a bit of blade running *through* those hand guardy bits. So you could cut through the outer casing, but then you'd hit the little mini-beam and be stopped.
Well yeah there is that also. I was just presenting another option. People tend to forget about Mandalorian iron.
Nimble yeah that's a much better design. Have bits you know will get wrecked, surrounding the bit that won't, for no reason.

which is a problem for me since i dont have $20 to spend on it. Other card games like yugioh and magic have free options but those also have a bigger following.have free games. I am not saying that tabletop isnt worth the money or anything i am just too poor for it. It does go on sale sometimes but i dont want to wait til then and while i could pirate the game i dont know how to get said pirated game to work with steam so i can play with others and use workshop stuff

im new to the game but is fast hands a yellow upgrade placed on krennic a red character illegal unless the text says
Same with the rocket launcher (red upgrade) on a yellow character
I don't know too much about the game either, but I thought it was the other way around, an upgrade can be placed with any card unless the upgrade says otherwise. (Such as some of the force cards being restricted to alignment)
Nope. Upgrades aren't colour specific unless they dictate so.

More dice, more options, while Tom has the battlefield (which was only once this video, but that's not the point), krennic effectively has three character dice, so tom has four character dice to put in his pool, along with the six upgrade dice he can have
Yea except krennic's dice are shit, 2x death trooper is better than 2x krennic and sometimes a death trooper.and you lose out on 8 health and an additional character. That's a third character that the enemy has to focus down
