  • General Grievous fights six Jedi in the original Clone Wars cartoon made by the Cartoon Network and Lucasfilm. I got the complete scene by piecing together other CZcams videos. Anyway this is just my way of paying respect to the original Clone Wars cartoons that have been replaced by the animated Clone Wars (the new 3D series).

    Honestly the best part for me is at 4:32, something I never appreciated as a kid. At this point, if my memory serves, we didn't know Grievous had any organic material in him. He was just the Droid General. So when he turns and reveals an organic eye, meaning there's an organic brain in that metal shell calling the shots and performing those moves, it's terrifying. Also the fact that the eye betrays no emotion. No glee, no joy, no fear, no surprise, nothing. Just Grievous hunting Jedi like prey.

    • @wrongchew3423
      @wrongchew3423 Před 2 měsíci +10

      Honestly I think it would've been scarier (for the Jedi) if he was entirely a droid. The big contrast in the militaries of the Clone Wars was that the separatists had quantity, not quality. The Jedi and Republic overcame the overwhelming numbers of the droid threat by having better troops, better coordination, and the elite Jedi. Imagine the concern the Jedi have when see one droid absolutely annihilate an entire squad of Jedi. Now imagine their fear once they realize that droids are mass producible, and there could be more than one General Grievous.

When Jedi are practicing or even fighting Sith, the opponent will have at most two lightsabers and will almost always be using a recognizable form. 2003 Grievous being OP actually made sense if you think about it. The CIS needed some kind of OP balancing factor against the jedi who effortlessly destroyed countless platoons of battle droids by themselves. It honestly made no sense that the CIS were even a threat with how ludicrously superior the jedi and clone army were in every way. Having a smart, powerful leader who could tip these scales would explain how the CIS were a threat; a role that Grievous was supposed to fulfill in this series.

      This will always be my favorite Grievous too, but given that every single other appearance is far less impressive I think we have to assume he just isn't this good. I wish they had done this scene with 5 unnamed Jedi and one council member, that would fit within the legends told about Grievous and explain why everyone is so afraid of him. But taking on 3 *master* jedi while they're backed up by 2 other knights? Even this Grievous should have lost, right? Idk this is such an amazing scene and such a fun Grievous to watch so maybe there's an argument that makes him the better portrayal, but a part of me feels like we're lying to ourselves.

From there he uses his spinning blades and unorthodox fighting style to disoriente the exhausted jedi and isolate them. Its sad. Grievous could've easily become the darth vader of the prequel trilogy instead.... you know.

      I know, right? they had the best fucking design ever and This is what I always envisioned whenever I saw this almost insect like cyborg creature, with lots of arms to wield lightsabers, a relentless assassin. It's like they had all the best design ideas and forgot all the ideas with this guy..
      Well, leave it to Genndy Tartakovsky to show you what makes action so sweet and a character genuinely threatening.

      Actually, Grievous IS a character that foreshadows the rise of Darth Vader.

      Actually, if you look at his legends history, he WAS Anakin Skywalker. The guy lost nearly everything. The love of his life, his will to go on out side of kill every Huk in sight. Got blown up and put into a cybernetic body, used by his Sith master to hunt down and kill Jedi, all in that order. Grievous was pretty much the Prequel's Vader. And when I say that, I mean, I'm sticking to his Legend's lore. It might not be canon, but then again, after the shit that Disney pulled, it nearly destroyed my love for the Star Wars Universe as a whole. So, in conclusion; Fuck Disney. And fuck the people who made him a coward in particular. 😅

    What I love about his first encounter with the clones is that he only runs when he knows he's outmatched.

    Gendy Tartacovsky’s 2003 Clone Wars had the most accurate portrayal of Grievous. A ruthless, efficient Jedi killer who used fear tactics and aggressive attacks to overwhelm Jedi. This show is what made me fall in love with General Grievous as a character. He just doesn’t live up to his reputation in any of the other films. Wish we saw more of him in the 2003s clone wars show.

      I genuinely wondered how 2008 grievous even got the job done, man out here losing to anyone slightly above Padawan level. Then losing to crackhead pirates, snail-amphibian people, and a rather unprepared Ahsoka. There's also that one exploding ship part where plot armor saved his metal ass because for some dumb reason, obi wan decided to warn grievous the ship was going to explode instead of being smart and letting him die. Too much plot armor, not enough evidence to support the whole jedi-killer part of his story.

      @@kevinvassago lost to ventress, which is fine I guess since ventress is a pretty dangerous threat, but then needed an entire army to deal with brainless zombies and a few archers? I guess it's somewhat impressive but it's not exactly like a thing you hear and makes you say "Woah, that's pretty neat!"

      @@accountforasupertubularguy7166 yeah, true. I'm watching the clone wars right now and I just saw that episode last night. I was honestly kind of happy Ventress kinda won that fight tho, because after all the bs she's been through, she needed a win. Idk, 2003 clone wars will always be canon to me as well, so maybe that's why Grevious doesn't bother me as much as others, it is what it is I guess.

    Man, the first kid I feel bad for: but he should have listened to his master. While Jedi are not meant to feel love, it is clear that most masters want to keep their padawans alive, and become slightly distressed when they’re about to make a fatal (literally) mistake
