Picked up a HP Pavilion refurb for £500 a couple of months back. Didn't buy it for gaming. However, have needed to test the odd download prior to moving to my main gaming rig. Shocked at how well the Ryzen APUs handle things like PCSX2, RPCS3, and Xemu.

@@Newthon-ds6os Runs a halo quite well. Upgrade ram from 8gb to 16 and add extra ssd in the empty second hd slot for under $80 and you can run every game available quite well. 💪
@Tahsin Hussain Microsoft Flight Simulator is ridiculously hard to run. Getting even 30 frames on that game is very hard unless you own a good machine.
I’ve had my HP Victus for about a month now, no problem with screen wobble and I added another stick of 8gb ram in it and it works flawlessly with games like Battlefield 1

@@AliDawahFan Haven’t tried Fortnite, but it runs Read Dead Redemption 2 fine so I’d imagine Fortnite would be light for it.
Picked up the Dell G16 at Best Buy a couple weeks ago. It was on sale for $1099 and I had over $250 in reward credits; making it even cheaper for myself. At 1099 it is a really good value because of the 3060 gpu, 12700 cpu, ddr5 ram, and 1440p+ (1600p) high refresh 16" screen. Only downside is there is only 1 nvme slot, so if you want more storage you have to swap out the factory drive or depend upon an external drive. Not regretting my choice at all because if I wanted a 1440p or better 17.3" screen with a 3060 (or better) the price almost immediately soars past $2000.
Whats the frame rate?
@@WreckyBreccy Haven't done a whole lot of AAA tests with it yet; the most demanding I've played so far is Assassin's Creed Syndicate on 1440p with high settings and it was 90+fps. Most E-sports are 120+fps with no issues either.
for the same price you could of got the Lenovo Legion or Zephyrus g14. Ahhhhh!
@@aarongarcia2911 those are very good laptops, but a 14" screen is a non-starter for me. I preferred to find a 17.3" laptop that was 1440p or better with a 3060, but I wasn't able to find one for anywhere near the same price as the Dell G16.
How much ram and storage did the laptop come with? If I have to guess one of ram or storage will be half xD
Word of advice to those looking: Don't bother with a 3050 or 3050 Ti. They were designed for ultra thin laptops, not gaming laptops. Sure you can game on them on lower settings but they are terrible value for your money. The 3060 is a massive step up for a little more money.

It’s a solid choice for moderate gaming. I can throw Universe Sandbox 2, Automation, BeamNG drive, Minecraft with decent rtx shaders, and much more at it with minimal problems.
Snagged it on Black Friday for under 500$ and for the price point it slaughters
I'm using my Victus 16 with 3050, I set max settings for 1080p 60 fps and get 60 stable fps, and gpu doesn't even cap to 100% (with DLSS, and on some games, with ray tracing too) usage, stays below 65 °C...so idk tf you on.
"Ultra thin laptops" like you call them have integrated GPUs.
Not true, I have Rtx 3050 laptop and it can play all games Around high settings at 1080p. RTX 3050 is very cheap and super good for the price, I Paid for my Laptop only 600 Euro. And 3060 in my country was like 1,1k+ eur at that time, so not worth extra 500 euro.

@@blainecountysherrif4542 true, but when it comes to price the 1650 laptops are "competing" with the 3050 laptops and it's not even close between those two. I would feel bad for anyone in 2022/2023 who paid close to the exact same for a 1650 as they could for a 3050.

Whoever sees this, if you are considering the acer nitro 5 as your laptop, good choice. Got it 5 days ago, only negatives is no MUX switch and loud fans, BUT they do cool well!
@RobFlexz yes they do but its higher end models im pretty sure. mine with an i7 11th gen and 3050ti came with a MUX switch

I got one too for the holidays with r7 6800h and rtx 3060. Good build, but yes, it is quite loud
got a victus - gen 12 i9 with the gtx 1650 and 16 gb seriously rips. once going up to 16 gb there are absolutely zero complaints for 500 dollars on sale. 144 hz monitor is what pushes the victus over the edge for me. also 500gb compared to 250 on most base laptops.
How did you get 12th gen with i9? Custom install?

@@muazhasanuddin I don’t remember the exact model, but it was a microcenter platinum and idk if it’s still there. I got it on sale at 1,000 instead of 1,600 or whatever the original price was
I picked up the Lenovoa Ideadpad 3, i upgraded to 32gig ddr5 and added a 1tb hd. I'm extremely impressed by it's performance. Especially the thermals i haven't seen it go over 85 degrees fully loaded. During games like Hearthstone and even FO76 the fans don't even turn on as it's using the internal CPU and not going above 60 degrees.
In WH40k Darktide the fans do kick on but i'm getting 90fps and since it's a 3050 it can use DLSS. My only complaint is that since it's a 3050 it only has 4 gigs vram, it would be perfect if it had a 3060 with 6 gigs but it wouldn't be $600 then.
Most impressivlely in Star Citizen i get 35fps in cities and 50-60fps everywhere else.

@@MarvelMania677 yeah it plays Star Citizen surprisingly well for the price and with 3.18 it performs pretty well. But you will need to upgrade to 32 gigs otherwise it will crash all over the place playing SC with only 8 gigs. And a second NVME to put games on also helps.
But the processer is extremely fast given the price.
My first laptop was an HP. It was so terrible that I just can't imagine myself buying something from HP again, except if the price is really cool.

i finally got a new pc for xmas. its a nitro 5 with an i7 11th gen and a 3050ti and i got it for about 700 to 800 and its performing pretty well so far except the wifi is kinda buggy rn but other than that its been amazing

Just got a MSI GP66 Leopard with a 140W RTX3070 for 1300€ on Amazon. It was 1800€ prior and I was gonna get a TUF A15 but that beast showed up in the meantime. It was one of the last in stock so it went to 1800€ Out of Stock and now 2300€ (last time I checked)

@@Senko1800 If you can, Id hold out a couple weeks and wait to purchase laptop until after CES in the first week of January. The new stuff will be expensive, no doubt, but hopefully it will push prices of 2022 laptops down even further. And if you can, save up for a 3060 laptop as that GPU is so much faster and more worth the money for typically ~$100 more

I really think the msi gf63 (i5 11400H with 3050ti varient) should have a place here.. i know its graphics limitation makes the lenovo a way better option, but for the price u r paying its an absolute catch, i got it at black friday for only 600$ and i have been happy with it! Considering that my old laptop was a intel hd 4000 with i3 3110, but hey, u guys r still awesome :)

I bought a HP ENVY x360 2 in 1 laptop on 12/22/22 and I love it, Definitely got me into Laptop. It runs The Witcher 3 and MPC BEATS plus my MPK249 MIDI piano without any issues. Will be looking to get one close to $2000 soon just because I can.

8 gigs is totally unacceptable in this day and age and anyone paying high prices for anything with 8 gigs is getting royally ripped off in 2023.

@@KingFroglet Depends on what you are running mate. But i can reassure you that you'll be using that 120 Hz display at it's maximum because most games do run at 120+
@@elpsycho203 Well, on performance mode, (which turns the fans into god mode) the GPU temp gets to like 80C but never beyond that. I've been pretty happy with it considering some laptops get to like 95C and stuff. But again, remember that eventho you might get the exact same laptop, they can always perform differently for various reasons.

Okay I need help but it’s dumb… I think the best choice realistically would be the acer aspire 3. But okay literally the only game I play is TF2 and I just want something that can handle that VERY well. If you don’t know, TF2, although an older and technically easy to run game, it has some issues that make certain computers not work as well as others, specs besides. I would really appreciate an opinion. Thanks

The exact models are impossible to search for in Denmark, I did search for the Acer Aspire 3, added the CPU to the tag but it showed tons of Acer Aspire 3 laptops with tons of other configurations.
