  • I've had Scribd for almost 6 years. At first I bought it to access hard to find English teaching books, but I kept access to read as many fiction and non-fiction books as I could each month. Since starting my part-time studies at Bible collage, scribd has become invaluable to me, but it's not without its issues. Find out the pros, cons and conclusions in this video review.

The synchronization is also terrible. Books I saved on my tablet don't show up in my list, even though I see the list. Also, the bookmarks and notes are useless this way too. I can't see my highlights on my laptop but I do see them on my laptop.

Hi Chris, I enjoy the videos. Is there a way for Obsidian to pull the Table of Contents and/or Index from individual books in the Book Search Community Plugin? Thanks

Hi Adrian. Thanks for the praise. I’m guessing your question isn’t really connected to this video (other than the use of books). I don’t believe there is an easy way but you’ve inspired me to look into making my own solution (and I ‘ve just made some progress!) let me know if I’ve misunderstood and I hope I can get this made and a video ready soon. I’m planning a series on literature notes so I think it would be a great fit.

@@chrisjwilson I'm excited to see what you come up with. Since I have a lot of theology books, I would like to have an option to easily search (and potentially group) books by similar topics. I'll be on the lookout for your new videos. Thanks!

Books disappear when you read too many. You have to make sure you aren't reading too many at the same time.

I’ve never noticed that but have found some evidence that there is a limit if you read a vast amount of books. I wonder how high that might be as I’ve never encountered it.

Well that feels like a scam why would they do that

@@Lawand So one limit is during the free trial which presumably is to stop abuse of the referral system. I just double checked and their marketing doesn't say it's unlimited but they do imply ("Endless knowledge and entertainment"). It seems very word wrangling to me and if I came across the limit regularly I would certainly be annoyed but I can't think I've ever hit it myself.

how does Scribd compare to Audible?

    • @chrisjwilson

Audible works on a credit system with one (or two if you have prime) a month. You can swap books you get if you try them and don’t like them (not sure on the details of that.) scribd is far freer. You could start and finish five audiobooks in one month (or just one) plus you get ebooks and the other stuff thrown in too.
